my family is considering to adopt one, but we have never had dogs before. my father has, when he was younger, and we have two cats at the moment. we most certainly do have the time and space for them so that is not a problem. does anyone have tips/advice? we are actively researching this breed and making sure we can handle adopting one
I think that the white shepherd is even easier to train than the german shepherd. Of course it would be great if you get one from a shelter. However, if you have cats, it may be easier if it is a puppy.
We have had two White Swiss Shepherd dogs (not at together). We always got them as puppies just because we have adult cats. They were cat-sized (long ago by now) when we introduced them to their feline housemates. Whether they get along depends from cat to cat. One will lick and nudge the dog while the other rather avoid him. The dogs have always been rather careful with other animals, like our rabbit or hens, so they do match with other pets in general but it requires some training. Their health can bring up the vet bill if you're out of luck though, and they have a bit of a drama queen reputation when it comes to vets. They're sweet, affectionate, flexible, clever dogs but they're big and strong so make sure you train them right!
I have one tha tis 70 days old, he bites constantly but he is adorable and wants attention constantly but it needs to be well trained cause they get too big
