Best minding dog I’ve ever had. No formal training. It’s almost as if she can read my mind. She’s 2 yr old now, and I think I could walk her through a crowd and she’d stay right by my side like Velcro. She is temperamental though. She’s 40lb, but my 80 lb lab tests her sometimes. It never ends well for the lab, because she gets face rolled instantly. I agree with the other commenter that this dog has no fear of anything but lightning/thunder. That turns her into a wimp quick. She crawls under the bed every time. Best/smartest dog ever.

Lots of bad information in this video. The official association for the breed is the NALC. The National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas. That is where you should start looking if interested in this WORKING breed. They are not meant to be pets. Real ones are high energy, high prey drive, and hard headed. They can become more aggressive at maturity. They need a ton of both mental and physical stimulation or they get bored and destructive. If you want one as a pet because of their color please, please choose on of the other 20+ breeds that come in merle and leave the catahoula as a working breed.

It's really a dog for experienced owners only. On the other hand, all previous experience costs nothing, because basenji is absolutely unique in manners, behaviour, reactions and communications both with their masters, people passing and especially sportsmen running by, and non-basenji dogs. For example, my basenji can't bear closed doors. If she needs food or a walk, she would sit against me with the ears turned back. Outdoors she sometimes would be scared by quietest hardly heard sound and rush home in panic. What sound can it be? - The car door closed, or cars signalling, or police or ambulance syren, or even pneumatic gun shooting hundreds and hundreds meters away, nothing to say about fireworks irrespective of how far it is. Neither the non-basenji dog, nor his master would understand basenji's growling and clicking teeth manner of greeting. My basenji can't bear sniffing her tail. And so, and so, and so...

Greyhounds require very little exercise; two twenty minute walks on a lead would suffice but let them have a sprint in an enclosed area at least twice a week as they do love a run. They are very lazy and like nothing more than lying on a big soft Bed. They are heat sensitive but also don't like being cold. In cold climates they need a warm coat for outdoor walks. Very sensitive nature and do not like a lot of loud noise. Older children would be more suitable then very young children. Very gentle and respectful but can have a stubborn streak. They can't be pushed around physically, as they are not bred for rough and tumble type games. Very loyal but independent and not a needy Breed but do like to feel your touch when lying on the couch beside you. They make wonderful Pets because of their undemanding, gentle nature. Highly recommend this noble Breed. Low energy and low maintenance. 😻💓💖🐾🐾🐾
