- No fewer than five companies in four countries joined forces to produce this fresh take on the hero popularized in movie serials and Disney's tv series. Duncan Regehr starred as the titular hero who led a double life in 19th century California. In the US it ran for 88 episodes on The Family Channel. The theme song is by Jay Asher and Dennis Spiegel. Duncan Regehr will to me, always be the definitive Zorro. I watched this show all the time as a kid.

Man, I was born the year this show started and three years old when it ended. I never even saw more than about two or three episodes, but I remember being in absolute AWE of this man riding a horse through the night, with a sword at his side, fighting for justice and equality....

I loved this show when I was little.
I've been a fan of this version of Zorro since I first caught it accidentally on satellite TV back in 1990. Henry Darrow, however was my first introduction to Zorro in general when I was a kid through his voice work on the Filmation animated series. And my mom and aunt were fans of the Disney 1950s TV series so I guess it runs in the blood lol.
Henry Darrow also played Zorro on the Disney spinoff “Zorro and Son”.
@@13thwho I know I forgot to mention that one. I watched the pilot of it. I didn't appreciate that it was played for laughs.

Thanks for posting. Loved this show, but Love the Disney Version better. This had a better theme song though than Disney's. Both were cancelled too soon.

I actually liked this series - it comes very close to recapturing the adventure of the Disney series. I really did enjoy this theme as much as the original - it's catchy and you do find yourself singing it as well.
Yes, we again have a non-Hispanic playing Zorro, but Duncan Regehr did sell it, just as Guy Williams sold it in the original series.
Henry Darrow played Don Alejandro, Zorro's father, in the last two seasons, and I believe he was the only Hispanic actor to play Zorro (in a more comedic take from Disney called Zorro & Son -- since Disney produced that one, they could reuse the original theme). And Patrice Martinez (Camhi) was gorgeous. She would have kept me watching the show even if other aspects were lacking. Sadly, we lost her way too soon at age 55.

Zorro was one of my favorite fictional heroes! Along with the Lone Ranger, Tarzan, Hercules movies and Sinbad movies! When it came to westerns I searched for the Zorro movies!

While I didn't see this growing up but sought out the series & compared it to the 1957 series which I did see reruns of while a kid.....I think Guy Williams would have loved this take & Duncan Regehr did a phenomenal job taking up the mantle of El Zorro, the Curse of Capistrano Z

Just remember, Batman was inspired by Zorro. The Wayne's were killed after coming out of the Mark of Zorro. I fondly remember this series on the Family channel, it came on before Rin Tin Tin: K9 Cop!

I never watched the Family Channel, so I missed this when it was in production. I may have to go find some episodes. Anyone else recognize Henry Darrow (Mano on THE HIGH CHAPPARAL) or J. G. Hertzler (Martok on STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE) in the second-season intro? And that rocking theme song is terrific!
