- On this episode of 8,000 miles to TapTown, we go to the UK to bring you Jim Lampi.
Jim Lampi is a musical Icon, especially when it comes to playing the Stick. The dynamics, expression and sound that he squeezes out of the instrument is something that is simply jaw dropping, something that stops anyone in their tracks.
His command of the Stick and music in general, takes the listener on a journey that crosses many dimensions, a pilgrimage to the inner emotions. It's no surprise that his playing and music has taken him to every corner of the Globe capturing audiences with his soulful, dynamic and atmospheric approach.
If you are a fan of the series or just a fan of music, this episode is an absolute must, his stories are second to none, and presence is truly captivating.
We had a super fun chat, and I am truly honoured and thrilled to bring this episode to you.
Great episode, fascinating stories, excellent hearing Jim's history. Thanks Finbar for yet another fantastic show !!!!
I'm so glad I stumbled onto this interview! I attended a Frank Jolliffe's Stick Seminar in 1993. Alphonso Johnson spent an afternoon with us and Emmett spent most of a day with us. One name that came up again and again over the five days of the seminar was Jim Lampi; "you've got to check out Jim Lampi!" I purchased 'TV Weather' and have been a fan ever since.
That’s amazing, absolutely sounds like a bass player AND an accomplished jazz guitarist. Amazing example of how versatile these instruments can be.
J'adore entendre ton histoire Jim ! Merveilleux musicien !
Jim will put out a new album... Hurray!
