Nice interview of Daniel Schell, multidimensional man. In addition, he was the soul of the wonderful world of Cos, 6 LP's in the '70s.

Am I correct in believing that he is playing a Megatar? Those are pretty rare, much more so than the stick. The one guy who was going to build those has decided to give it up. Apparently he just couldn't get any orders. That's a shame, it was a nice instrument. It would really be nice if we could get more people interested in playing tapping instruments, it's such a shame that so few people know anything about them at all. I've been playing the one I built for about 12 years, not getting much better at it, but I do enjoy it a great deal. It's the most fun I've had on guitar in decades.

@@teknomanning I always thought about getting one, but funding was always an issue. So I decided to build my own, and came up with one that has a baritone for the left hand and a regular guitar range for the right hand. I prefer working with bass players, even though I do play it as well as guitar. If you search my channel's videos, you will find a fair amount of me playing on it. I needed to be able to keep my nails, so I scalloped out the wood on the right hand side of the fretboard. Works quite well as long as my nails stay reasonable length (Segovia style works fine and keeps them manageable).
If you email Patrick Anders, the guy who bought out the Megatar from Traktor, he will email you all 4 copies of the Megatar books. Ask nicely, of course. I am sorry he never could make any money off of them, he was doing a really nice job on them.
I really like this instrument (I've built 2, now, I made a few errors on the first one and fixed them for #2), it's the most fun I've had on guitar in decades!
