After running minecraft servers for years, it's not as simple as just putting it on a beefy box. Trust me, I'm currently running my network on overclocked 9900k's. I think what you have is a cool concept, but there's a lot you don't know about the game itself. The real problem is within minecraft itself, and needs a LOOOOOOOOT of things configured properly in order to run. If you're attempting to run 1.14+ (or 1.13+) on vanilla minecraft, you'd be lucky to get 30-40 people without lag. Even if you go to a more stable version, anything over 100 gets VERY tricky unless you know what you're doing.

That would be interesting. Minecraft is heavily single threaded so more cores would just mean more server instances, but each would likely support fewer people due to lower clock speed.

With the lastest versions on the public server (spigot) in which i'm cofounder the only real option is a 9900k balls to the wall at 5ghz, and we're desperate for more singlethread performance.

Although Zen 2 has higher IPC, IPC that can vary between workloads, maximum all core overclock it's not high and I doubt that it could reach 5ghz on Skylake performance. I love Ryzen and I have a 1950x, but sometimes you just need the right hardware for the job and in some cases, expecially if mission critical, Intel it's still the better choice (sadly)
Well I can answer that question for you - yes, they have used a lot of it. Linus had to put trash cans under the sink drains because people kept dumping things down the sink despite it not being functional. They've used the knives, they do use the cabinets. I don't know about the pots and pans, but probably those too.
Trash Lucas it is easy to configure. But sometimes it being so easy means you add that extra 1 on an IP address and so the servers don’t link and it no work
I did a similar project with my old 6th gen i5. I water-cooled it and put it to 4.4GHz and put 32GB of RAM in it at 2800MHz (mixed sets so I just chose the looser timings) and it runs really well. When it was just 2 people on it I had the render distance at 12 and it was really nice. I need to find other games though because this is a great server for hosting games on.
For the nerds: They used multicraft os to make the server (I send 10days researching hard to find it cuz i want to build a server my own but i wont recommend this os i recommend using mineos it comes ready to use and easy to install and you can connect to it to add/remove files with ssh like you would on the os that they used.)
Definatly not 1.13+ on a Pi unless they're clustered MC servers are only single cored and the cores on PIs are soooo slow (1.3GHz normally) it will run with one or 2 MAYBE other than that now way. This is for Java though, not sure for bedrock

I've been running a vanilla server (not even a papermc one) on my Pi4 (8gb ram, 2.1 Ghz overclock, Ubuntu Server 20.04) for quite some time now and it never ran into any problem, even with 5/6 people on it. Could probably handle 10 players. Maybe in your case it could be a ram limitation, or a matter of clocks.
Maybe that server should be given away to Housemaster so 2b2t can actually handle all the players who want to play on it instead of having an 800 player long queue! :)
