It's always a joy to watch you make your magic John! Thanks for another fun recipe to try, looks fabulous!
Thanks, John. Looks really good. You are the “O Noodle King” of Freeze Drying. Thanks again, this is going on my gotta do list.
good stuff, thanks for sharing
2 minutes of extra seal time is definitely worth the added insurance that your food stays sealed for many years!
My wife and I refer to the O2 absorber as the flavor pack. I am going to try this recipe for our next batch of backpacking meals. I might try egg noodles instead of ramen though.
Another great one, John. FTR, I consider those ramen packs to be one of the best sources of cheap, tasty calories. As a "starving student", I ate a *lot* of ramen, only much later learning that it's common to add more than just the "flavor packet", which is basically colored salt. Now 59 and retired, I still like ramen, though I generally toss the flavor packet and cook it in water with "Better Than Bullion", and add in various vegetables and sometimes an egg, and once I have it in a bowl to serve, shredded cheese, which melts right in. I didn't notice the failure to remove the O2 absorber, and laughed when you removed it late. As for Sriracha, that's a great addition to many meals. Just this morning I had a Vietnamese noodle bowl at a decent restaurant, and used plenty of sriracha to improve it. That's one of the hot sauces we always keep on hand. If you like spice, and flavor, and haven't already tried it, I recommend trying Tabasco's "Scorpion Pepper" sauce. Great flavor, and plenty of heat, but not overwhelming.
Oh, also, we have one of those FoodSaver vacuum setups, and have never had a problem with the seal failing. We got it at Costco, didn't pay a lot, and it takes either pre-made bags or the rolls of bag material.
Hi John, My son absoutely loves Beijing Beef for back-packing, so I made this Mongolian Ground Beef to send off to him for another trial run...I think it will be a hit ! (It already is with me !) Thank you for so many spectacular Freeze Dried MREs ! ❣

I was looking for a meal for 1 in a pouch. Think I might try it with some asparagus for a veggie with it
