- I was very kindly lent this pedal by my mate Michael at Emmergy FX, to try out and film a demo with, and it made a big impression!
Dark Star is a tri-mode reverb pedal, which is capable of producing some extremely unconventional sounds...and I think I need to get myself one at some point...

Amazing video and explanation of the pedal 🙌🏻👏🏻
Many thanks! 😊
To date, one of my favourite pedals. Top 5 without any doubt. It's an absolute dream to use as an early chain reverb. Nice demo mate! 🧡
Much appreciated. Thanks for watching!
I’m getting one next week and I’m excited to pair it with the walrus slo and see how lost in the verb I can get
Great demo!!
Thanks! 😊
Great demo ! The pitch shifters sound pretty decent at least in full octave shifting.
Thanks mate. Yeah, I agree! I didn't realise it was an FV-1 pedal until after I sent it back, so you can imagine my surprise. 😄
Very nice demo. I love love love my Dark Star... or should i say my Dark Stars, love it so much that i've got 2 of them, one for each of my pedalboards. It's my favorite pedal ever for sure, it's so inspiring!
Thanks a lot!
Wow, what do they sound like stacked? Are you going to get the new one? I think it's called the Sunlight.
i feel like having a mode for ctrl 2 might be more useful - bitcrusher amount and feedback tend to be more useful to control
Is there a mode in which the HOLD switch acts like a latching one? As in like Slo in Dream mode.
Really good video. I bought this pedal one year ago and i love it. Didnt know that thing about the internal switch. It is there in the v1.0 as well?
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it, and I'm jealous you have one. 😄
I don't believe the V1 had these internal controls, but I'm not 100% sure.
Why does it do that stuttery effect on the upper octave i wonder? it's interesting, pitch shifting artifacts don't normaly sound like that, it feels like the sort of effect you get when you mess with the sample size in doing FFTs/make it so they don't overlap quite right
Yeah, I assume there's some weird glitching going on with the chip. But I like the effect!
Yes!
Haha, that was fast. 😄
is there v1???
Yep! 😁
Is it analogue?
No. All reverb pedals are digital, with the exception of a handful of spring reverb pedals that incorporate an actual spring in their design.
This one is amazing, but sould be stereo :/
It's definitely a lot of fun! I run my whole board in mono, so the lack of stereo doesn't bother me. But I get how it could be a deal-breaker for other people... unless you just buy two of them? 😝
@@PedalExperiments a expensive solution for sure hahahh but I'll consider it, this pedal really gets me
They just released dark light which is this and sunlight in stereo
200$ bit crusher effect..hmm and i hope they replaced all those pedals that made ppl's guitar sound out of tune, bummer man, that's a bummer dude!
What are you going on about??
