- Welcome back adventurers!! Today we take a look at the Old Blood Noise Endeavors Dark Star Reverb. This pad style reverb offers 3 amazing and unique modes - pitch, delay, and crush. Join this cursed crew on a journey into the cold, dark reaches of space. Let’s unlock the universe of sounds and textures inside this Dark Star. This journey is a treacherous one, so be warned, you may not make it back.

This is one reason why kids should not quit music lessons. Playing basic melodies on guitar and piano is not difficult to learn for a child. But I’ve seen kids quit because they’re addicted to their iPhone and addicted to video games not realizing theirs amazing music technology out there.
YES!!!!! I wish they pushed music more for kids. Not only is it fun and mentally stimulating, but it’s also confidence building and great for stress relief. Maybe if the kids treated it more like a game, they would be into it. Someone needs to make a music lesson app/game that kids would like, requiring physical playing along with it.
Hey neither do I, and I own nearly 50 pedals. I use tape, tapeloops, diy drone oscillators, create feedback loops using splitter cables, pedals can make sounds on their own using splitter cables. Pedals are for life, not just guitars.

What a great video! As a bass player I know pedals are supposed to be out of my realm, but I’m not a normal bass player, what I got from your video is the dark star won’t hold back for any and can’t be stopped! Not even by bass frequencies 🤘😎
Oh thank you so much!!!! Very appreciated! Don’t listen to anyone who tells you pedals don’t work on bass, it’s a lie!! They are phenomenal on low frequencies, I am actually planning to get a bass myself this year to add to my videos. You should totally check out Pedal and Effects video backlog, Juan Alderete is the most amazing bass player and is obsessed with pedals. I’ll throw a sub octave bass on my guitar and use it as a bass through other pedals. It’s too fun!!🤘🏻❤️

One of the best demo/review ive watched on any platform. Sir. U are a genius. But, now im in big trouble. IM a guitar player that goes from Rock to spacey eras. I want a good reverb, and i have on list Fathom and Slo (walrus), also the Skylar , and now this one. I can only afford one! What do u think. in your humble opinion. Can u help me decide? As for the recommendation, I wish I could help more. The Dark Star is the only one of those 4 that I’ve played. But I will say, from what I’ve seen, if you want a more straightforward reverb, go for the Fathom or Skylar. If you like more experimental sounds, go for Dark Star or Slö. I hope this helps a little. So many pedals I still want to try too!!! Thanks again!!🙏🏻
I have the Fathom and it's a versatile reverb that you can use as both a "standard" and for ambient spacey swells. After this demo, I'm seriously considering the Dark Star though.
Oh you’d love the Dark Star, really can’t say enough about this dark lady with a haunting voice. I’ve always wanted to check out Fathom, looks like a super versatile verb.🤘🏻
Is this demo the Dark Star "Version 2" or "Version 1"??? Also, is it being used with anything else or is this the pedal by itself? If its the pedal alone... with no other effects stacked with it I will DEFINITELY be saving for one of these.
Thanks so much for checking this out!!! It’s the V2 with expression out and soft switching. Genuinely can’t recommend this pedal enough. I use it every single time I play. As for others pedals here, I use the CT5 second to last clip for some pitch delay, and the Mood on the very last clip for the speed changes. Just a little fuzz in the intro.
how do you set up the hold switch? mine cant seemt to work for the pitch jump for pitch mode and crush mode. i can only hold a note.
Oh totally, it’s super easy! You just have to take off the back plate. There is a little switch inside that changes it from reverb hold to controlling CTRL 1. Super fun to have the pitch control on that footswitch. Let me know how it goes!!

amazing stuff by you and the pedal, but for christ's sake why won't anyone touch the hold button on the delay setting in any of these demos
Thanks so much!!!! Yeah, I had the hold button set to control CTRL 1 to get the dips and swooshes in delay mode. Honestly rarely use the hold for the reverb, just crank the reverb knob to hold notes. I’m a knob twiddler.🤷🏼♂️🤘🏻

When I press the hold switch it doesn't makes that octave jump... It's just for freezing... Maybe it's because I got a newer one...my knobs are black not white
Oh heck yeah, I got you!! All you need to do is take the back plate off(just need a screwdriver). Inside the pedal there is a little switch. That switch controls what knob your left footswitch controls. It’s always set to the reverb hold coming out of OBNE, but if you switch it, it controls the CNTR 1 knob. Then you can use the footswitch to control pitch in the Pitch and Crush modes, and control the delay time in Delay mode. Super easy and opens up so much in this pedal! Hope this helps!

It’s the V2 with the soft switch and expression control. Best pedal ever! Sad to hear it is being discontinued, but probably something even better coming.
I picked one up as soon as I heard the sound at 2:00 and I absolutely love it
@wilsonkeeler5977 yes!!!! The full wet mix is what sold me on the Dark Star too. I honestly never really use it any other way. Such a beautiful pad or faux strings sound.
I feel like this is what you'd get if Steve Via and Isaac Asimov had a baby and it's beautiful!
