just got a 335i and I love your videos so much, they’re incredibly helpful and show how stuff can be done from the average DIYer perspective unlike some with fancy specific tools or jacks. Your videos are criminally underrated and deserve so much more views.

I have to say you are right about these videos being underrated. No names but there’s a couple BMW guys that get more views but one of them isn’t even all BMW anymore. Plus both the other guys try to make it seem complicated to work on your BMW. It is not. I’m 57 and I have been doing my own mechanic work since I was 15. BMW’s are the easiest car I have ever worked on. Even dropping the subframe is easy peazy.

Thanks for the video helped a lot. I want to get to the 335i platform but There is no way im spending 600$ of labor for a 20$ valve cover gasket. I understand for the oilpan gasket but is it hard to do everything apart from the oil pan gasket at home with not a lot of knowledge in mecanics?

Does it take 3-5 Bmw 328i cars in total service maintenance hours to equal 1 BMW 335i service ? Such a money pit , doing diy isn’t much better either, as it takes hours always from life we could be enjoying with family…. I salute you all 335i owners or any other direct injected turbo engine owners 😅.. for your dedication.

One more thing I would say to check out, although not necessary maintenance item is a stock turbo rebuilt kit, many of the kits have upgraded wastegates to eliminate rattle as well as better seals, which is very good for tuned cars.

@@TheBimmerBarn I don't know who I am to have talked about injectors as I'm still running index 9's. I was going to say though that these costs are probably even higher for an "XI" model. I just did all the maintenance on my new to me "XI" model which included coils and some other fixes like a Wheel Bearing and the HPFP. In reality the parts for these cars aren't expensive in comparison to any other cars parts. But now I'm about to do the turbos and the oil pan and on the "XI" it's STUPID because I'm not doing it myself as I have no lift. So After buying (My prices are Canadian or Chinadian as it is now (Not really funny but...) $1500CAD for the "0 to 60" tested Ebay 17T ebay specials (Includes inlets) and $3000 for an independent to do the work. WHAA I'm crying.

No, rod bearings aren't a common failure point on these engines. The most important things are going to be cooling system and gasket related. I know that this may be a little bit late to chime in, but when you service the transmission you should replace the mechatronics sleeves and the seal for the transmission where the wiring harness plugs in. The mechatronics may look scary but it's actually really simple. When the sleeves start to get brittle and stop sealing so well the trans will start to slip because the solenoids aren't getting the right pressure. 9 times out of 10 if the trans fluid isn't low and it starts to slip it's because those sleeves are starting to fail.

The older cars came with the worst injectors, this car being a 2010 had Index 10 injectors, and none showed any signs of failing, so there was no reason to change them out!
