I think R Type like games always live and die on how playable they are after you lose a life. They need to be fair on powering you up again and not putting you too far back in a level, or you never feel like you're progressing.
Agreed. I think Last Resort does this well. You're not put too far back and there is ALWAYS a pickup after spawn. Keep in mind, the game's role is to keep you pumping money into it, so the progression has to be balanced with that from a business perspective.
Fun watch, miss you on this week in Retro, happy can still watch you here. :) Watching from Minnesota, USA
Thanks for the kind words. Thanks for watching from the USA :D

You should try Blazing Star for the Neo Geo
Nice. And you should try Park patrol for the zx spectrum. 😉
I love shoot 'em' up -retro games 🕹️👍
Me too :)
Neo Geo games are always an event. Not big on shooters but I have a soft spot for the Metal Slug series.
I'm not big into Neo Geo but there was a period on the 90s, where we'd find ourselves playing on them in the arcade without even realising.
This is a fun looking game but is it just me or do the Metal Slug art style and fraphics really stand out in comparison to this game?
That is a great game👌
It's awesome hey.
Love the game , Chris😎
Great game Steve.
looks good, reminds me of R-Type.
It's a very good R-Type clone.
This game was created by the developers of R-Type. And later, KOF94 was developed.
