- HELLO FRIENDS! Welcome to another RAMMSTEIN reaction. :) Today we're diving into "Ich Tu Dir Weh" live at Madison Square Garden in 2010 that was released on the 2015 released DVD/Blu-Ray "In Amerika". I really hope you enjoy :) This one was nuts!

The song is called "I hurt you".
Till sings all the time about how he wants to hurt others in a horrible way (barbed wire in the urinary canal, etc.).
But the twist comes at the end. He sings everything into a mirror ("I see your face in the mirror. I love you, because you don't love me"). That means the song was never about harming others, is about selfharm and SM.
People who want to get relief through pain and end up feeling like kind of reborn. And that's exactly what happens here in the show. Flake the pianist goes into the tub with a black Coat (Aggressively against Till) , suffers pain and comes out again in a glitter suit (reliefed) like a new man.

As a German I would say you need the translation of the lyrics to fully understand. This song is about sadomasochism. It was one of the songs of the album "Liebe ist für alle da" (Love is for everyone), that was banned from sale in Germany for a short time until they got right in court.

When he sings "Ich seh’ im Spiegel dein Gesicht"
" I see your face in the mirror" hints that the person he’s singing about is actually himself. Maybe this song isn’t about a sadomasochistic relationship, but is rather about self-harm.
One additional hint: Especially for their official videos there are ones with english subtitles that you can find on youtube by searching for: "educated marine rammstein" and the title of the song
If no one has mentioned this, Till actually had his cheek pierced originally for the light-up effect but it ended up getting infected so now (as in the video) he has a cable running from the outside into his mouth.

My son went to the Rammstein concert in Chicago on 9/3/2022. He said his ears rang for days. I found out that most big bands have 400,000 watts of power in their sound system. Rammstein has 2,500,000 watts in theirs !

This is a great song, and actually live is waaay better than music video. And it is usually like this, live shows even sound much better - with just few exceptions. 😅
Lyrics here matter a lot. First you might think it's about sado-masochism relation, but at the end it apears that actually he is doing harm to himsef!

Seems most of Rammstein songs can have a double meaning depending on the listener. Love the double guitar attack w the heavy riffs. They are an epic band to see live and I hope they go on tour again soon. Def go if you get a chance.

the funny bit here is to look at what the keyboardist is wearing when he goes into the tub and what he is wearing after.
before, he's wearing all plain black clothes
after, he's all sparkles. and then when he gets back to the keyboards, the power station type set components around the keyboards spark and flash.
the idea is that he comes out having been electrified. a bunch of the performance after that has sparks and simulated electricity at the keyboards.
The song is about S&M. He is singing about barbwire in the urethra. This song was censored for a while in Germany when the album came out in 2009. .

You need to learn German or watch on Educated Marine's channel, where the lyrics are translated. There are always several layers. This song is about self-harm.
If the word has "IE" say "E" ex. Tiefer(deeper) pronounced like teefer.
If the word has "EI" say "I" ex. Rammstein pronounced like Rahmmshtine....ie Einstein.

Your pronounciation of the "stein"-part is OK (schtein), but the 'a' in Ramm is very short, like in the word 'bar' ('bar' as in 'raising the bar', not the bar where you order drinks).
