I knew the hate they got before i took a dive through their discography, but i'm really glad i gave them a chance. They've got a lot of really awesome songs! As far as why they were hated for so long (recent reception has been a lot kinder), probably because they were so utterly inescapable for so long. Radio, ads, live shows, CDs everywhere, the whole 9. Once a band reaches the top, there's always contrarians, whether they legit hate the songs or just to be a foil to popular opinion, idk. Critics were similarly dismissive of Linkin Park when their first 2 albums came out (their scores are in the low 60s from most contemporary reviews) and other bands like Nickelback - although there's more substance to the argument that they were pretty "blah" for many of their hits. The band that ACTUALLY deserves that level of hate is Maroon 5.

Despite Gravity showing that the person in question continues to relapse, I like that the song and therefore the entire album still ends optimistically with the lyric "I choose to live". If you go read comments on the original upload, there are countless people crediting this song (and album) with saving their lives.

My least favourite Starset song would be either Faultline or Symbiotic. They just sound too generic for me and like other bands.

Okay, it looks like some solid recommendations have already been given, just, let me say, the answer, Emp, is yes. Nine inch nails, as a musical group, covers so much sonic territory that it's mind-boggling. Everything from ballads, synth-pop, experimental, and instrumental to straight-up ragers can often be found on a single album. 😅 If there's one thing that NIN is known for, however, it's rage and angst fueled bangers. 🤘

A lot of face punchers! Pigs march, wish, Burn is a great one. Most of their more commercial in my opinion are not that great from their catalog but those are three off top of my head.
