@@illiria2000 We have a lot of content to get through in part 1 of the course, the absolute earliest "mastering the skills" could come out is August, but likely later than that
This is embarrassing, but having been an illustrator for 30+ years it never occurred to me to cut my erasers down to create a sharp point! Thanks for that.
BRAVO!!! I fail to find the correct words justifiably complimenting the quality of this video... To whom ever the video was due to being created and presented with such quality both in its explanatory (visual and conceptual) context and general flow of its ease to follow; I can not thank you enough for the efforts you have presented as since I have not seen much that can rival what I have just watched. VERY well done!
Thank you! We appreciate everyone who added their creative skillset to the lessons in this course. They really elevated it and made it something engaging.
Thanks. I got to a point where I can do a lot of the perspective stuff through intuition, but my actual execution of it still needs a lot of work. These tips/tools are perfect
Thank you so much, great video!! 💞💞💞💞 I was thinking using rulers cheating too 😓 you totally changed my opinion about them, I was having problems with straight lines, i will practice to be at free hand drawing too, but until I will use a help from rulers!
I learned how to draw perspective for almost 9 years now. They first started out aerial or atmospheric but I loved to draw perspective since. I like drawing my perspective freehanded without using any particular tool at all.
Thank you for the video! It's reassuring knowing professionally trained artists require tools to help draw. I don't know why I didn't think of it before and now I feel silly but inspired
I am unreasonably excited to do this course. 😁 Great stuff, Marshall and Proko! btw Team Proko, your link in description to the course is missing a "VE". Currently it's linking to a "Perspecti" course 😉
We're excited it's finally out in the world! I checked in on the link you mentioned and don't see it missing any letters but there's a possibility that another Proko team member already came through and updated that. Thanks for letting us know!
Well I learned something new lol. But seriously, my main problem with vanishing points is that in order for a drawing to not look distorted you need the VPs to be well outside your drawing area and unless you use like a giant board were you place thumb tucks with cords or whatever it's very hard to get the lines right so I was wondering if there is a way to figure out VPs accurately without having to actually draw them so you can calculate them properly on even a small drawing. So far no luck on finding such a technique :(
They don’t always have to be that far apart. It depends on where the object is relative to your cone of vision and the scale of the object as well. The whole idea is that you will practice these concepts long enough that they become intuitive so that you won’t have to draw vp’s (that is unless you are doing technical projections), but for the sake of imaginative creation it just isn’t necessary. All this being said there are perspective grids that can be used with light tables or just as reference that allow you to do just as you wanted. If you don’t like those, they also sell tools to create grids based on curvilinear principles, but they require a learning curve that I feel isn’t worth it when you could just draw the vp’s. Oh and a little trick that I just remembered is to look at and measure angles. What I mean is for ex. All corner angles on one face of a rectangular prism or cube I think should add up to 360 degrees and 180 for triangular prisms. So you can add the angles up to check if that particular face is in correct perspective. From there you would add the other viewable faces and make sure that their angles all add up as well. However I think this only works for axonometric perspective,so what I tend to do is offset the angles connected to the non leading vertices by one or a few degrees and that should get you close enough to the true angles leading to a vp.I know that this is a terrible explanation but hopefully you can understand what I’m trying to say. Anyway hope this helps.
There is a video on this channel where Stan shows how to plot out the lines by dividing the space between them on the edge of the paper when they continue far outside to the vanishing point.
3:13 He said while buying his Pencils, Paper, and Rulers with the assistance of corperations. Okay for real though, fun and engaging tutorial, love it! Looking forward to the next.
When I was studying in drawing class they didn't allow us any tools. We were training to make straight lines without ruler and round circles without compass. It is very hard in the beginning, but then you don't need anything but pencil to draw. Think about it😅
Sir perspective in square or rectangular looks easy but when it comes to draw other shapes or an object it feel confused and hard to understand perspective
It hurts that the first thing I learned is perspective rather than the human body. It feels like I went to get shot at the kidney then wrote about it while it is bleeding out waiting for it to heal.
All I’m waiting for him to say is “I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.”
Got a whole playlist of lessons that goes fully into male and female anatomy. Hope it helps! ua-cam.com/play/PLtG4P3lq8RHFBeVaruf2JjyQmZJH4__Zv.html&si=GuVQ4uG7EAgiebag
IT’S NOT A RULER!!! It is a “rule”. A ruler is one who is the governor, the King. That person makes laws, rules. That person can make rules because they are THE RULER! To draw a straight line one uses “a rule”. If you are going to teach, don’t perpetuate falsehoods.
That's a human speaking and his name is Marshall Vandruff. Get your AI radar checked and consider what you're saying if you're wrong about that like you are here. You just ended up being rude to a person sharing their knowledge of perspective for free online to help teach people.
My apologies. We’ve been flooded with AI videos so much and I mistook the way the audio was cut as AI and stopped watching in frustration. I’ve since rewatched the video fully and found it very informative. Thank you for the free content.
Everyone's got different tastes. Marshall definitely put a ton of his creative and comedic voice into this course. It might be hard to avoid that with these perspective lessons.

Hello there, I have a question.
When does the “Mastering the Skills” portion start? Even if it’s a rough estimation on the time frame.
Any word guys?
@@illiria2000 We have a lot of content to get through in part 1 of the course, the absolute earliest "mastering the skills" could come out is August, but likely later than that
The math nerd and art lover in me loved every second of that video. You brought my two favorite and best subjects together.
Is this a dream or is it truly the long-yearned-for perspective course?!?!?!?!
You are dreamin
It is! We've already even got a feedback video in the course!
It's finally happening!!
Adding this to the classroom this week. Perfect complement to my live figure drawing class.

the claymation is absolutely adorable
Excellent presentation. This guy talks and instructs in the exact way I need to hear and learn!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the humour and lessons in this fantastic video! Must have taken a lot of effort and time to put it together! Thank you :)

Took a drink from the fridge before I played this video. I was learning a lot that I forgot I had a drink to start with. Amazing stuff!
We couldn't be happier to hear someone ended up with a room temperature drink lol
Thanks for watching!
Never thought a T would be called a square :) (In swedish its called t-ruler, angel ruler or t-angle. But in swedish off course)

Poor Pencil. Leave my poor boi alone 😔
He may be plain and simple, but he gets the job done with my sketches.
Sir perspective in square or rectangular looks easy but when it comes to draw other shapes or an object it feel confused and hard to understand perspective
The trick is to draw other shapes within bounding boxes as orientation. It's still difficult and needs practice but I don't think there's a shortcut.
@@SaHaRaSquad thanks for the tip i surely will try it and practice more

Right ?

Definitely not. Marshall's been making these lessons for over a decade now, well before the public availability of generative AI.
nice, shit i can buy instead of drawing?? count me in

Im early 😎
