The app intelligently tracks weather in your area, and if it rains, the scheduled sprinkler system will not turn on... saving water... and your monthly water bill. We take you through a step by step DIY tutorial on how to install. There are two types of Rachio controllers, Rachio 3 and Rachio 3e. The Rachio 3 is more expensive because it has additional features. Rachio 3 has the following features that the Rachio 3e does not...
1. Weather Intelligence Plus (Rachio 3e has standard weather intelligence)
2. Flex Daily Schedule (auto adjusts your watering schedule)
3. Yard Map Feature (Can draw zone boundaries on a map of your yard)
4. HomeKit Integration (use with this Apple Product)
5. Future Premium Software (use wifi to update software, 3e cannot be upgraded)
6. Wireless Integrations (Rachio offers additional integrations such as a wireless flow meter and the LoRa Radio, but will only work with the Rachio 3e)

I've had mine for years and it's awesome. I use the feature that lets the computer determine when to water based on weather. One heads up...if you are a snowbird or taking a vacation for more than a week, consider changing the watering method from having the unit determine need over to manual, where you pre set watering days and times. I was on auto and we briefly lost internet. The unit needed to be reconnected to the internet and I needed to be home to do it....no water for my lawn until I returned home.
