Its a travesty of justice that you haven't got more subscribers. Probably the best video on camera tricks and treats all year. Thankyou Mr Deaf Director for everything you post and highlight. Your one of the most charismatic UA-cam camera guys out there and Keep up the amazing work you do. If education is key to life then watching your videos is worth a 100 pieces of gold and 40 pieces of silver.
Thanks so much, Stewart. That made my day. It's a lot of work to keep the channel going and balanced with my 60 hour a week cinematography and directing work. I really had a wish more subscribers, too. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!
I found out about the battery hack myself but still some great tips in here. Thank you so much. Directly registered the tilt and roll helper. Loved the cardestry inbetween 🎉
I love these R5C tips videos you do! Keep em coming brother! Chris & Jordan from DPReview TV should've watched your videos before putting out their dumb reviews of this camera :-)
Haven't finished the video yet, but liking just for the battery hack alone 🙏😄🎉 i mainly run with with a v mount battery on a gimbal, but like to take it off the gimbal for more variety of shots, so this is super helpful. Thank you!!
Keep these videos coming bro.. I done into mine and found all of these before, so glad you’re spreading the word. Besides the battery life, this is the absolute perfect camera!!!
Hi, thank you for your insightful video. Do you know if it’s possible to use some external app on an iPad or phone to select the focus area in the R5C remotely, but while the camera is in the Video mode? I know I can start/stop recording remotely using a remote shutter button, but there seems to be no system to enable remote viewing in the R5C while in the Video mode. I’m talking about something like Canon Camera Connect, which allows for remote viewing in the R6, R6mii and the R5. But R5C is soooo different in the Video Mode! I read that you could buy a Wi-Fi battery grip and then use something called Remote Browser, but that system seems so old that no one is using it, or at least it seems. I would be grateful for your advice. Thank you, Alan
Great great vid and tips. 4,5,6 were new! Thank u!I would love to better understand what a dual base iso does … maybe you’ll do video? Just doesn’t compute fully despite past research.
Great video. I have a request. Can you do a video tutorial how to assign custom button on R5C. For example I want to assign C1 8K 30P, C2-4k 120P C3-4K 60P. I want to get familiar with because I will be buying the R5C soon. I am a GH5 shooter with a large collection of Canon L glass. I am still using the old 5D mark III for photo. I am interested in the R5C with V-mount battery and cage.
Man, I love your optimism and how you have found your way around all these 'issues'. I think the only thing missing is the built-in ND filter. With Canon allowing 3rd party glass with auto focus, this camera is going to become a 'hot' favourite albeit with the fan inside:)
Thank you, Bryan! Your posts about R5c are so helpful and a must for me. I hope Canon will release a new firmware update to improve the camera (latest is from nov 2022). My no 1 wish is video in Photo Mode, good old R5 video style for simple life ...
I personally find that the EF lenses AF works great with the Canon EF to RF Adapters. I've never had an issue with any of my EF lenses and any of the Canon Adapters. Have a great day!
Can also confirm the face priority vs face only also works with other objects not just faces so you can remove a product and replace it without it racking focus
A different method to just selecting the native or base iso 800 or 3200 is to use the dual base iso on the R5 c simultaneously. When shooting in clog 3 you can choose base iso 3200 (can be selected under camera icon menu #2) and simultaneously run the regular iso selection at 800 - both iso selections appear on the LCD display. The benefit of this method is that middle grey exposure stays the same as shooting at regular base iso 800 but you get 2 more clean stops in the shadows - but at the expense of losing 2 stops of DR in the highlights. So it doesn't increase dynamic range but shifts the range sensitivity to prioritise lower light. Can be very useful for retaining shadow detail if required and be set up to select via one of the buttons for quick access. The R5 c is currently the only Canon camera that has this feature. The R5 has 2 native (or base) ISOs but you can't run them simultaneously.
Set the R5 c to 800 ISO. Then enter Menu - Camera Icon - 2 - you will see Base ISO Automatic, 800, 3200. Choose 3200. Exit menu and you will see 3200 directly above the ISO 800 selection on the camera display. This setting is ideal for some situations where shadow detail is more important than highlights.
Other than your face, I can't really see much of the gear. It's the same dark lighting in every video. I am not sure if you are thinking it is cool looking and cinematic, but we care less. We want to see products clearly and in decent lighting. You should change your lighting settings in your studio.

Really helpful tips here, thank you! It’s been a bit of a headache to get round the menus, used to the R5’s photo style menus.
This was great for me because I’m buying an R5C this week. Maybe even tomorrow. Thanks so much. I’ll be back for more.
I love these R5C tips videos you do! Keep em coming brother!

Great idea with the media button to save power. Also appreciate the additional tips on what you've figured out with auto-focus. Thanks my man!
Love your videos! Learning a ton about my new R5C.
Thanks for sharing. You always bring up clever informations. Cheers. Didi
Incredible! Did not know some of those auto focus tricks! I got the r5c in January and have been loving it ever since !
Your content is amazing! I really appreciate this video. Keep up the great work

OMG This helped me so much! It was so frustrating not being able to track/select target with AF like I could do in photo mode. Thanks so much!!!
Awesome! I had no idea about the Tilt + Roll feature, I've been using a leveler app on my phone lol. Much appreciated
It's really hidden in the menus. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!
Congratulations on the content! really understanding! which external battery are you using and which power cable thank you very much
Hi, sir, reallt thanks for ur sharing!!! Can I ask, the slo Mo Function, how to set the auto tracking on Slow Mo mode?
Keep these videos coming bro.. I done into mine and found all of these before, so glad you’re spreading the word. Besides the battery life, this is the absolute perfect camera!!!
the battery hack was a joke. the battery life is different from the media button and it goes back to the actual life again when you press record again
the tip for the level is a god send!!! I shoot real estate and you have no idea how much this is going to help me :) :)
Great video. Fun fact about the super35 6K RAW...if used with the .71 speed booster and EF glass, it becomes full frame 6K RAW.
Great point and I love my 0.71 speed booster. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!
Thanks for great tips, no fluff. I learn something every time I click your videos. - Mike

Thanks for this video. Very helpful. What 99 watt battery are you using?
I am using the FX Lion Nano II. Have a great day!

That would be an amazing component to add to the camera. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!
I wish they would update it to be in standby mode when not recording to save battery life, that’s my only complaint !
That face AF hunting was driving me nuts. Thx.
Really great collection! 👍
thank you, just got mine R5c and start play wit hsettings
How did you get that + in the middle of display screen ?
How to possible timelapse day to night on canon r5c ..? Pls. Help.
Awesome content
What v mount battery is that??
Thank You :) Great video.
how is the autofocus performing with EF lenses?

No worries & thanks for your informative videos
what exactly do you mean? i can either select automatic, 800 or 3200 ? you mean i should select 3200 but rate it at 800 ?
Set the R5 c to 800 ISO. Then enter Menu - Camera Icon - 2 - you will see Base ISO Automatic, 800, 3200. Choose 3200. @@csound55 this is not the case for me, i select 800, then go to menu and select base iso 3200 and then it jumps to 4000 if i exit the menu ...
Awesome! Thank you!
If you're not shooting in raw isn't the base ISO400? For the lower end anyways.
CLog3 has a base ISO of 800, even in non-Raw. Have a great day!
@@DeafDirector c log yes I was confusing with non log! its 400
Great tips.
Is the 6K image a cropped 8K image?
U're a Genius!

I respectfully disagree. Looks fine to me.
Do you have a website I can email you?
Great video bro
