I did. I defended a young woman from four thugs on a subway. They kicked my ass, including giving me a concussion, a detached retina, and three fractured ribs. Those ribs took months to heal and still ache on rainy days.
She didn't even say "thank you" and no one else on the train came to my aid, not even to call the cops.

The problem here is that the "woman" is not a single person, I don't understand this type of comment.
The legal charges that can be filed are a different thing but I feel that at the very least calling the police is not bad in these cases of harassment or theft.
I think when they ask these very young women if they need a man, most will say no, because they've been raised by moms who don't want them to depend on a man for things. It's a very different thing to "need" a man, than it is to "want" a man. I taught my daughter to look after herself, learn the things she needed to know (like finances, mortgages, fixing things around the house, etc), and then anybody else that she meets is just gravy! She doesn't need a man to get along in life, but most would love to have a partner to love.
To all the people saying be a real man. I spent 6 months in jail for defending a helpless woman. Took 3 years to get my rights back. Woman didn't even thank me. Will only defend people i know from now on. Don't be a hero or you could become a zero 😢😢😢

A few years back I walked by a couple arguing next to a busy road. The dude was being EXTREMELY verbally aggressive and abusive and I thought he might attack her at any moment. I just kept walking. Know why? That time my buddy defended a woman at a bar after her bf struck her, and my buddy was the only one charged as the woman sided with her abuser, and the security cam footage didn't matter one bit to the cops. Over a decade later and he is still paying for it.

Oh yes, there was also a case here in Germany where a guy (MMA Fighter) saw a group of arabs around a woman and one was choking her and she was screaming. He tried to help her, hit 2 guys or so and then the rest was beating the shit out of him... also why he had broken bones in the face (he was also part time model AND like mentioned MMA Fighter, so it's very bad to have broken bones) he was the one who got punished by the law later... because it turned out the woman waa the wife of the guy who choked her and they acted like it was a normal family meeting. He also said in a podcast interview that he'll never help someone in a similar situation again. It's so sad.
Just remember the woman chose to marry or date the guy that is treating her a certain way. If she has a problem with him, she would leave. It's on her to deal with it like an adult.

True. Other women get pulled into that sh** as well. I worked with a woman like that in my early 20s and was slammed for not getting involved. Her husband would always show up to collect her when she went home with coworkers and he'd threaten them and damage their property. She wouldn't press charges or leave though. And the clowns that slammed me never took her to THEIR homes but stopped the bs after yet another coworker was threatened and her car tires slashed for helping.

The court ruled that the police have no actual responsibility to protect citizens or prevent murders (in his case, the cops waited until the fight was over).
All the while, the slogan "Protect and Serve" is still incredibly common despite the fact that police (at least in the US) aren't required to do either.

It's not always black and white when you intervene especially in violent and life ending scenarios, this specific case if the guy got involved there's a high chance someone would get shot and/or killed. Its a high probability of lose/lose either way. Nowadays society is so safe that a lot of people are so coddled they do not understand or realize the nuances of a physical encounter, especially one with someone on drugs or having a mental breakdown.

Why won't women defend women ?
There's a lot of talk from them about being strong and independent, but when things get real, I wonder if they really back that up with actions
Many-a-times women seem to help more in bars than men. I had many stories of other women calling a car or escorting her when she's drunk or saving her from assault, watching over each other's drinks, etc.

Well here in Louisville the other day a man pulled a knife on a woman and her child and another man stepped in to defend them and shot the guy dead. They charged the guy who helped her with murder. That’s why.

Being the awesome person my brother is, he tried to intervene and stop the robbery. Little did he know, he gets knocked out by one of the robbers sitting in the getaway car. They then proceed to rob my brother while he's knocked out cold. The older asian couple who were previously robbed begin to walk away as my sister in law hysterically screaming for help. No one else came to their aide. Ever since that incident, my brother has become a little wary of helping strangers. Sad to say, but in this day and age, there's no point in helping out a stranger when you yourself can also become the victim.
