I now have the ring peephole cam I was waiting for it to come back. I’m glad I did. The other doorcam I got wasn’t worth the money but did come in handy. Even with the other ring cams I would still get this just knowing that a cam is powered by a battery is best. Since robbers can be tech heads and cut the power off.
This is the best video on ring cams I have seen in three hours of looking but still leaves out the question how this camera records or notifies the good guy that someone bad is at the door. (subscription fee? wifi/wires/cloud storage/memory card storage etc?) Coming from education field, I assume everyone is a natural teacher or can anticipate questions a novice e might have and I was wrong. And trust me your video is still miles ahead of most others. (which means I have a headache right about now) 🤣 👍
Thank you..? I think, lol. The Ring ecosystem is all cloud based. You can do live views for free, but if you want recordings you will need the subscription, which I believe is $5/month or $50/year. Fair point on assuming that all viewers are coming into this video already having that knowledge. All the best to you on your camera quest.
That is correct. This is specifically designed to not require drilling. Perfect for renters who can’t drill or others who don’t want to mess with that.
What other applications can a peephole cam be used for if you have a screen door that may affect the infrared lights? Or, what modifications are needed to accommodate having a screendoor?
Here’s an answer to that question that I found from Ring: Hello, Doors that close in front of Door View Cam, like screens and storm doors, can have an impact on Door View Cam's functionality. Glass doors usually let you see the camera's view, but you will need to turn off the night vision LEDs in the device settings, or the glass door will reflect them back into the camera, obstructing its view. Metal and mesh screens may partially or fully obstruct the camera's view and may also reflect the night vision LEDs. If Motion Detection is enabled, most outer doors will also prevent motion from being detected by Door View Cam until the outer door is opened. If you have any additional questions, please visit us at ring.com/help or by emailing us at help@ring.com.
The blockout privacy part, if your blocking out a facing neighbours door (if theyve asked younto) , it will block out who is at front of your own door.
My facing neighbour asked to blackout their house. Which when starts recording. I can't see who is on my drive and only records bottom half of face at the door. So best way is to setup your recording boundaries and I had to tell my neighbour it will only record for my.property purpose only.

Thank you so much! Just moved to a townhome rental .. wanted to Mount on door or next to door located a 3M ring Mount so I think I like this one better if I can take out the peephole. Are the peepholes difficult to take out if it’s a new property or are they genetic? and lastly are these Call doorbells are they like the rain so you can be anywhere in the state or out of town and still use a Ring to see who’s at your door and will you need wifi? If so how much speed? Totally loved this video before I mounted my ring.. Thank you !! Update just looked at my front door and the inside does have a screw, however it maybe connected to the metal “Door Knocker” were in the center of it is the peephole.. this won’t work correct? 😅
Mine barely works it dont even pick up motion that good and I have a glass door at my apts that mite be the reason but it catches motion only some times it's weird it got all the settings correct so mine jus suck it didnt even show me a guy came all the way up on my step stood rite in front of the camera stole a bike nd it never showed me that but it showed me walking in to my house like ten mins later I dont like it it dont make me feel any safer😊
Ring gave a message, last year I believe, that they would sort out the isssue we have in Europe with thicker doors, is this change made in the new version?
This would make sense if it was just the peephole showing from the outside, not the entire camera box. We need something from a reputable company that doesn't look any different than a regular peephole from the OUTSIDE.
That's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want the box on the outside. I want something that just looks like a peephole. Got a creepy neighbour than I want to make sure doesn't vandalise my garden again.
I live in an apartment in a downtown multi-story brick building... in the hood, where I can buy my neighbor's regular outside of the door mounted ring doorbell from my other neighbor who stole it from him and is now selling it on the street... so yeah, it still makes sense to have a peephole cam I just don't like ring but ring is the first option that comes up when you google peephole cam so that's the first one I'm researching. But yes, a peephole cam will always make sense to a select subsection of the population... those who live in the ghetto, but can afford a cam, the monthly sub fees that go with it (except Eufy and to a limited extent Wyze) and can afford to have things nice enough to justify securing with a camera. That's a lot of small businesses and a few individuals like myself. (All this, in response to you just saying that; ring brought back the peephole cam due to it still making sense for some people. I paused right then to type this, because the implication that a security camera division of a company honestly thought that it's relevance had gone away dumbfounded me... like yo WTF, no, that's never going away, it'll always be relevant and make sense for some people.
Such a stupid device designed by people who never lived in a bad area. A kid with a mask kept smashing mine off the door because it's designed to be ON THE OUTSIDE! lol who thought of this? It's incredibly stupid.
I’m sorry this happened to you. That’s terrible. I trust you made a police report and contacted Ring for a replacement. They will work with you on that.
So worth the money for the security it gives!

Thanks for Sharing! Great video in 2023.
Thank you for the review! I will be getting one now because of this. I've been waiting for it to come back out. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video! Have on coming this afternoon.
I just ordered the peephole camera directly from Ring and it arrived today. I'm so excited that the peephole cam is back!.
Amazing review thank you!!
I bought peephole one in Jan and I love it. The way my entry is I cant use a normal ring if I want the camera to face out.
That’s awesome!
Is there an onvif alternative that mounts the same way?
They released a replacement parts kit now and I cant believe its back after going out of stock

Mine skips and stops help.how to fix it it
No drilling needed when installing from inside? I saw the plastic screw ring that secured from inside. Is it just that easy?

Hi how do you answer someone at the door with the ring peephole camera through the audio
It has two way talk that works through the Ring app.
The blockout privacy part, if your blocking out a facing neighbours door (if theyve asked younto) , it will block out who is at front of your own door.
Definitely something to think about.

Can I add a device maybe like a speaker to hear the doorbell when my phone may be off?

Is this available in the UK ? Which one is it please ? Thanks
Ring gave a message, last year I believe, that they would sort out the isssue we have in Europe with thicker doors, is this change made in the new version?
yes i got one but cant get the cam to work
Have you reached out to Ring support?
@@TechWinnerCC nope .......
Are those sarcasm dots?
Is there local storage for this or do I have to use their subscription?
No local storage. You’ll need a Ring protect plan if you want to access recordings.
This would make sense if it was just the peephole showing from the outside, not the entire camera box. We need something from a reputable company that doesn't look any different than a regular peephole from the OUTSIDE.
You’re not accounting for a button press and two way talk in your theoretical product.
That's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want the box on the outside. I want something that just looks like a peephole. Got a creepy neighbour than I want to make sure doesn't vandalise my garden again.
A visible camera may be a deterrent for that.
Great video thanks!
I have the old one from 2019, is it worth the upgrade?
No, this is the same exact model. They just discontinued it for a while and then re-released it.
@@TechWinnerCC Ahh perfect thank you !
Did they make any changes??
No changes. It’s just back by popular demand.
Is it the same camera as in 2019 or is it updated? And is it sold out yet? Beacause I can't order it...
Same specs as the 2019 version, just at a lower price point. It appears to be available via the link in the description. Thanks for commenting!
Excellent
With the peephole cam can anyone on the outside look inside your house
thanks king
How do u charge the extra battery?
The battery packs have a micro usb port on them, and a cable is included in the packaging.
@@TechWinnerCC thanks for the reply!
Thanks for commenting!
Does it record 24/7?
No only events triggered by motion or a button press or a live look in via the Ring app.
99.00 right now from (ring) not Amazon
I love mines
it takes little effort to leave out the grammatically incorrect "s"
Do you need Alexa to use this?
No, just the Ring app. You can use Alexa, but you don’t have to.
$129 is a great price
Totally agree.
