Borderlands 2: Patched Bearcat - Does it still suck?

- The Bearcat is a Pearlescent Dahl Assault Rifle in Borderlands 2.
The Bearcat drops most commonly from OMGWTH in Digistruct Peak, but obviously it takes a long time to get to the boss. It also drops from Tubby enemies and is available as a world drop.
Without the community patch, it is absolutely one of the worst unique guns in the game, especially considering how late in Borderlands 2's life cycle that it was added. Curiously, it did not get grenade damage, which made no sense at all- since it is a grenadier rifle.
The community patch adds a significant amount of base damage, increases the fire rate, decreases the amount of ammo used per shot, and gives the weapon grenade damage. This makes the weapon so much better. It went from absolutely terrible to a viable and competitive AR for many mobbing situations. It definitely no longer sucks.
We are demoing the weapon with Axton, who has ample grenade damage bonuses.
I recommend the fire rate version.

Hey glad you like the skin! It was one of the very first ones I made; at the time I was figuring out how to play around with texture channels and thought putting the camo on the metal parts of the gun looked neat, since no other skin in the game does that (:

I don't remember if you mentioned it or not, but the buffed version also has the ammo per shot reduced to 2, which in and of itself is a massive improvement.

I don't know what gearbox was thinking with the bearcat, and a lot of the pearls. It's such a terrible gun without the patch. I hope in the next game if there are pearls that they are better than or at least as good as legendaries.
Gearbox does seem to be taking notes with the Community patch and they openly allow discussion of it over on their forums

I'm guessing the pearls were originally going to be on Normal/TVHM which is why they seem so crappy on UVHM
But after the UVHM upgrade when they were added they forgot to scale the weapons and they ended up having maybe 3-4 good pearls and the rest were trash tier
Borderlands 2 guns are generally pussy shit compared to what you can find in Borderlands 1. Hope they can improve the average quality of the loot for Borderlands 3, because 9/10 times when I find a random something in Borderlands 2 I'm disappointed, but I'm still finding ways to find new stuff or replace my gear in Borderlands 1, 3000 hours later.
When I first played through to the level cap at the time, I was playing with a buddy of mine; he on a siren, me on the soldier. He was a few levels ahead of me in our first foray into uvhm, which made it a bit difficult for me as Axton. i learned how to survive, and to prioritize targets, and eventually caught up. We looked up and studied potential gear, and farmed together for hours for good loadouts. When I heard about this gun, I knew that it would be amazing; my Axton's final touch to the build. So we kept looking for hours.
And then I got it. :|

There are exactly two things that cash is useful for in endgame BL2: buying ammo and paying Hyperion to respawn you. On the rare occasion you happen to find something worth using in a vending machine, there is literally no reason to not buy it. Of course, the UCP makes that occasion much less rare, but I digress.
There is no such thing in BL2 as "too expensive to be worth it"

I'd like to see a video on E-Tech ARs in the community patch. Even though they are really bad in the base game I still like them(well, the exception being the bandit ones) just because they feel incredibly satisfying to fire with those bouncing lasers etc.

This series, when ever the Community Patch is brought up, makes me really want to get Borderlands 2 on the PC some day. I love the game but it's kinda murder knowing how much better it could be.
Also, you never mentioned that you were getting more shots out of the Bearcat during the video. Before you were only getting 7 shots out of it and with the patch you were getting more than that.

Wanderlust has several problems: beside it's low damage the projectils won't hit a target when you are too close;also projectils can get hooked in corners so the Wanderlust is more effective outdoors.
It can apply Maya's Cloud-kill and this completly turns the table against armored enemies (OP8 Saturn in the badlands (who doesn't have health reg) took me 8 minutes/900 bullets without cloud kill but like 2min30sec and less then 300 bullets with cloudkill).
The benefit of the wanderlust is that you can stay covered, still damage your opponent and maybe switch to a moxxi weapon and heal yourself.

You seemed to miss one of the major changes. Each shot consumes 2 ammo/shot ( 6/burst) compared to the vanilla 6/shot (18/burst)
Btdubs, I notice you've usually said Dahl grip gives the higher burst count on Dahl weapons, but that is incorrect. Grips do not affect burst fire count. On Dahl SMGs and snipers, the Dahl stock will add +1 to the burst count, but the Dahl AR stock does not increase burst count (and pistols don't have a stock part to begin with).
Oh, and as TheStargov was so nice to correct me on, barrels also affect burst fire count (Dahl increases by +2, a couple other barrels decrease).
Michael Meissner assault rifles and pistols benefit from having a dahl barrel and stock both adding +1t to the burst, the grip does not.
You are correct about the barrels, which also applies to SMGs and snipers. That is my mistake.
However, you're still wrong on the stocks. Pistols don't have a stock part, and the stability accessory does not increase burst fire count for Dahl pistols. And the Dahl AR stock does not increase burst fire count, either. Feel free to dump the code in console or test it yourself.
Michael Meissner I have tested it myself the stock increses the burst of all dahl guns by 1 (Except pistols). Giving a max burst of 5.
Funny, because the code says nothing of increasing burst fire count, and I just tested with all the other stocks and Dahl barrel. They all had a burst count of 5.
But Dahl AR barrels increase the burst by +2, so that's why adding a Dahl barrel takes it from 3 to 5.
Michael Meissner All dahl guns work the same they all get +1 from barrel and stock. I have no idea what code your looking at. Assault Rifles aren't any different.
This will be OP on Kreig, with combo of explosive and elemental, which he can boost both at the same time, it will destroy all the things.

I feel that this weapon is best used with krieg, in both the patched and unpatched versions of the game. I had actually managed to kill the raid boss crawmerax with the patched version of the bearcat on krieg. The weapon activated krieg’s kill skill blood bath which is where the majority of the damage comes from

About the only Vault Hunter who could use this pre-patch is Krieg, and even then it wasn't very good.
Now, it's certainly much better, and far more viable for more characters.
I play on ps4, and I want the community patch. There are so many things it fixes that I need.

I'm sure with enough word, over time that Community Patch will be implemented into the console platform of the game.

I know that you can get a second wind from other projectiles , like the insect rockets from Vonbartlesby (spelling?) And Saturn's rockets.

Why do these things happen? How is it possible that people who make the game overlook something such as not giving the weapon grenade damage buffs? I just can't fathom how so many pearlescent weapons are so bad when they are supposed to be even cooler than legendaries, its almost as if nobody played with them.

If I can make a request, can you do the Madhous! for this series? I don't know if it actually got a buff with the patch, but if it did I'd like to see the differences. Reason I'm asking for that gun, is because it's my favorite gun in the game (for some odd reason.)

How is this compared to the Hail now? Both get grenade dmg, both have arching projectiles but the Hail has the moxxi health regen, splitting unlisted projectiles and can crit. Also more ammo efficient.
kodax2 Hail is top tier. This while good the fact that it can't crit holds it back from being great.

Y’all I need help. So I haven’t played bl2 in a long time and I just recently got the handsome collection cause there was a discount on PlayStation. I’m playing Krieg for the first time and I’m stuck on the bunker and idk how to build him to be good on the bunker. I was trying a melee build but I learned that it really doesn’t work well until you can get release the beast. Can anyone help with how I should build him?

Find a blister class mod that boost bloodbath, stack bloodlust some how ( low lv infection is perfect for that ), get a kill with a fastball or a tediore reload and shoot with a corrosive Hyperion shotgun ( any should do )
Young Poudii P I would say that if you’re on normal mode, get the Teapot from Tiny Tina. I always managed to kill BNK3R pretty easily with a teapot on my melee build. Of course, you could always get a comparable corrosive weapon and have moderate success as well, a Bad touch for example.
