At the time of me making this post, the version of the J401x on Amazon that includes the case is cheaper than the J401x without the case. Same seller too.
Lokithor J401X is very well made and is heavy-duty. I will let you know down the road how we like it. So far, we are very happy with the Lokithor J401X. Happy New Year
Your battery had to have a small amount of voltage because it will not jump a completely dead battery. It needs to see something before it engages. If the battery is completely dead you can bypass the safety feature by holding down the power and light buttons at the same time for a few seconds. You should have done that to test the output with your meter otherwise you are just getting residual low amp test noise from it trying to detect a battery.
The Lokithor J401X has jump-started a few of my cars with completely dead batteries. The Lokithor J401X has a boost button. I have noticed from experience that every other jump starter I own Hulkman, Noco, Gooloo, Fanttik, Lokithor J401X all can jump start a completely dead battery since they all have a boost button (disables security features). A lot of us consider a battery with 1-3 volts a completely dead battery because not even a tester light will read the voltage, as I have shown in other videos. I will put the Lokithor J401X to the test and jump-start just the connections and not the battery. That will show its true power. I have also noticed that the Lokithor J401X is the only jump starter i have seen that automatically engages the boost button at very, very low voltage, all other jump packs i own you physically have to push boost. But there is also a physical boost button as well for completely dead batteries. In my newer videos I have shown the Noco, Hulkman, Fanttik, Gooloo and Lokithor J401X on a battery with just about no voltage and I had to physically push the Boost button on the Hulkman, Noco, Fanttik, and Gooloo because they did not detect a battery. The Lokithor J401X boosted without me pushing any buttons as the video will show. Also a few of the jump starters with the voltage display weren't calculating any volts when hooked up, that tells me the battery is completely dead, but I am in no way a mechanic, I just watch alot of UA-cam. Lol. Thanks for the comment
Charged the unit for three day, all the lights were green and showed fully charged. Hooked it up to my 2005 gmc Sierra, which needed to be charged. I push the light and power button for boost mode. When I turned the ignition over, it didn’t even turn over the motor. Had to use my regular jumpers with another vehicle which jumped it on the first turn.
Warning: never open or close the electrical circuit with plus/red!! always with black (= red must always be there longer). As shown here (five times wrong: especially with the black Hyundai even with the device on), a large electric shock goes through the entire car electronics and in the worst case can destroy the engine control unit ($1,500 to $4,000 installed and programmed) or one of the many other control units. If you do it right, the electric shock mainly goes through the battery and is slowed down by it. ALWAYS pay attention to this, or also when jump-starting from car to car! Otherwise there could even be two cars that are damaged. If you don't want expensive trouble, pay attention to this; and once red and black are connected, never touch the red one again until the black one is off again. =that means: if you think that the contact at red is not good, !FIRST! remove the black again to wiggle/correct the red contact. than close again el.circuit with black, etc. (with black you can wiggle it and if there are sparks in black side, it's not so bad for the electronics) good luck.
Many people don't realize that most of these portable jump starters have Smart clamps and smart protections to avoid such incidents from happening. With these portable jump starters with smart protections like the jump starter shown in this video, it wouldn't matter if the red or black cable is hooked up first since nothing would happen because of the smart clamps and smart protections on these portable jump starters. The cheaper portable jump starters do not have smart functions unless it says in the specs. Now the old style jumper cables that you need two cars for do NOT have smart functions, as a result you would need to do what you said. Basically, these portable jump starters are goof proof, unless the Boost button is activated, only then are the smart functions disabled and you would have to do what you said. We appreciate the comment
Does anyone have any information about how the J401x compares to the J402? I just ordered a 402. I hope I don't have to send it back to the big river of newly wretched customer service. Love your channel, btw...
The Lokithor J401X has preheat technology up to -40 f and has 2500A peak and will do 8.5L gas and 6.5L diesel. The Lokithor J402 does not have preheat technology but works in down to -4, and it has 3000A peak which will do 9L gas and 7L diesel, and 100 watt two way charging
Thanks! I saw those details on the Lokithor website, but I appreciate your posting the "Known knowns". I'm searching for how it will hold up in head-to-head testing. I've subscribed, so consider this a well-intentioned request! Also, if you're able to do determine what the real world performance differences are between the Gooloo 4000 and 4000s, that would be great as well! @@HM_RELOADED
"makes me feel like a kid in a candy store for some reason" That's just how men are. And these companies probably know it. Also shoutout to the person who said the X version comes with the case included.
I bought this jump starter a year ago and it stopped turning on about 3-4 months ago. I reached out to the company with no response. It just doesn’t turn on. I think it might have to do with me charging the jump starter and inadvertently leaving it in charging mode for over a day or so? The starter lights up when I plug it in but doesn’t turn on when not charging. Is there anyway to reset the starter ? Thanks
I can't seem to find out if the Lokithor has some kind of hard reset or restore to factory settings function. I will keep doing research, but so far, I can't find any info about it. I will check to see if anything could be done internally. Gimme a little bit of time, I will do some research for you. Does the Lokithor turn on when the unit is being charged?
Has yours ever given you a red light error with the code '201'..? I can't find any reference to that issue. Mine doesn't seem to want to charge back up, either (using a 60w USB charger I've used for other phones, tablets and jump starters with no issues in the past).
Just an FYI, alot of other wall plugs are NOT compatible with the Lokithor, I have had issues with other jump starters not charging with my own wall plug, or my own charging wire. They actually recommend you use the charging wire that came with the unit.
I just looked at all the codes, and there are about 15 different codes, but code 201 is not on the list. I do see a code 200, code 200 says to return unit back to factory for repair. I actually took a picture of the list of codes if you are interested. Unfortunately, I did a little quick search and looked at my Lokithor J401X manual, and code 201 doesn't exist in the manual or on videos.
@@HM_RELOADED Thanks I noted the '200' and I'm guessing 201 is just a variant of that code. Amazon is allowing me to return it, but I'll try using the included cable, though I already tried that with two other USB wall chargers to no avail... I really appreciate you taking the time to look into it, tho! Subbed and upvoted.
@James Nelson Not all the time, most of these jump starter manuals are very oddly worded and make absolutely no sense, which is why many people overlook the manuals in many products, because 9 out of 10 times most people could figure out how to use a product without reading the instruction manual. Only way to truly learn something is to use it. I'm one of those people who read certain instruction manuals but can't comprehend everything that is in the manual, which is why I, like many others, learn from actually using the product daily. @ H & M reviews. I see your point. I appreciate the time you put in to review the jump starters. Watching your real world videos makes it easy for me to see which one to buy. Thanks
They may look thin and cheap, but I assure you they are very well made. I think the unconventional shape and style of the clamps gives the appearance that they are thin and cheap, but they are very well made with tight tension. Very strong hard plastic, copper. Thanks for the comment

Your unbiased review gave a clear picture of the LOKITHOR J401X.
Thank you
That low temp tec is the best feature of the device. It mean you can leave it in the car instead of what I have to do with mine , bring it inside.
I'm glad I watched this before making a decision on a jump starter.
Lokithor J401X is a good choice, very powerful.

The Lokithor J401X is made very well, you won't be disappointed.
Pretty decent real-world testing. Selling the nice case for $25 extra instead of including one is a cheap shot, though.

The Lokithor J401X should have def jump started your vehicle easily. Maybe there was a bad connection or something.
