Now that we've seen the top 5 across a few different specific categories, it might be interesting to see a video which is aimed towards:
1. Best for beginner, intermediate, advanced
2. Best for aggressive baseliner, counterpuncher, serve and volley
3. Maybe take each of the categories, and try to say, "okay, THIS racket, is best for THIS kind of player."
I'm always wondering whether a racket would suit my style of play (currently using weighted at 12 OG DR98's). I dont have the option to test racket after racket, so am curious to know what the reviewers think.

Great video, and no superise PD is the unquestioned NO1. PD is so solid good for recreational players at any level. It is not my main racket, but I always carry it , whenever I feel a bit tired or lazy, just pick PD up and another fun game starts.

I’ve been balancing the idea of Pure Aero 98 vs Vcore 98 for a while now and just can’t decide which to get.
I’ve tried the aero 100 before and may be able to get my hands on a Vcore 100 too but I don’t have excessive amounts of time to decide…
I’ve already watched your video comparing the modern spin racquets and was basically set to buy the aero 98.
The reason being feel, the Vcore has the same VDM as the Ezone which I also tested and couldn’t stand not being able to put the ball in the court cause I just couldn’t feel it well enough, so based off that I was gonna buy the aero until I rewatched your video and saw you mention that you rapidly adapted to the Vcores feel, which has led me back to square number 1.
I’d like to point out I also tested a Percept and loved the feel.
I did like the feel on the pure aero 100…
Overall I really liked the aero but don’t know whether the Vcore may be better…

If feel is your primary concern then 100% go for the Aero. While I was able to adapt to the Vcore's feel it's still extremely muted so you probably won't like it. The Percept doesn't have VDM so it won't be comparable to the Vcore, unfortunately.
As much as I agree the Ezone is one of the easiest 100sq power racquets on the market to use it is notorious for causing arm issues for recreational players. Best advice is to pick your strings and tensions carefully
agreed, don't get the guy at the store to choose for you! know your strings and your tension!
Interesting, I do have to say that comfort is my worst area of expertise as a reviewer since pretty much everything feels comfortable to me, but I've never felt how the Ezone could be uncomfortable whereas other rackets I can.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver, it's likely at the recreational level (which I'm very much part of) foot work isn't the greatest. That leads to usually being very late on the ball and hitting with compromised swing paths - read "chicken wing" forehands causing a whole bunch of strain in tendons.
Moral of the story is, get more lessons to improve your technique so you don't hurt yourself ....

I've tried them all but to me you forgot the best one, the dunlop fx500, power and stability of a pure drive but easier to swing, spin of a pure aero... Yet comfortable!

Wolfy also currently swings the FX500, but the previous model. With 71 RA, probably the stiffest frame on the planet among 100s. As powerful as the PD 100…especially when strung in the mid 40s with a good poly.
Many people saying the same, we will try to bring them in!
So fun fact the Techni Fibre ISO 305 has a higher swing weight hence, more power than the pure drive and its a 98 with better control having a 18 x 29 string pattern. Moreover, withe Ezone instead of the 100 you can get the 98 and put gut pre stretched at 51 lbs on the mains to get loads of power and feel and put a poly like RPM blast or Luxilon 4G on the crosses for the control but not strung above 48lbs.
This way you get a setup thats easy on the arm as the mains do the most work, loads of power and feel and great control with that poly on the crosses.
This kind of goes back to what I was saying about how "everything can be more powerful than everything if swung properly" but in terms of inherent power I still think these beat those out.
Great Review! But I have to disagree with the Extreme MP having open stringbed. The new MP's are very dense in the center compared to other power rackets.
I agree that it's denser than the previous MPs but I wouldn't say it's very dense yet. I also still struggle with control on the Extremes because of the grommets.
The Wilson Ultra v4 is a much more comfortable version than the v3. The v3 was like swinging a piece of lumber. But after playing with the v4 for about 8 months, I just kept getting tennis elbow, and sore wrists, etc. Tried multiple string combinations and still had arm problems. Switched to a more arm friendly racket, a Yonex VCore Pro and haven’t had arm pain since.
Glad you found your racket! Yes, it's much more comfortable than the last one but some will still have issues with the high stiffness.
Very good review. I'm using a Pure Drive and I've been looking for something similar and, probably, a bit better. Based on this review, I'll probably stick with the PD for now. By the way, nice shirt.

While I do think racquets play a lot in comfort, but for me the most important aspect really is the string, gauge, tension, etc... Most people will play a full bed of poly like the rpm blast and then wonder why they have elbow and wrist issues

Thank you! There are many differences; it may be worth it's own video in the future! But boiling it down to the biggest differences, the Shift has more power and spin and the Aero more control/precision.
I'm genuinely super super surprised you didn't even mention Wilson Shift and Pure Aero 100. I mean I would love a big comparison between Aero 100, Pure Drive and Shift 99 V1. Overall though my personal queries aside, good work
Those are the exact two other rackets that would have made the honourable mention list, to be fair. If you want to watch another top 5, both those rackets are in the Top 5 Spin Rackets video, but I don't compare them exactly side by side so maybe worth a video in the future.
Prince Ripstick is the best underrated power and spin racquet on the market with a 16 x 18 string pattern. It rivals the babalat pure drive but i find it produces better slice backhands that bites and stay low and topspin that rivals the pure aero but much more comfortable on the arm than both babolats.
Ripstick is very good i agree with you. But control is absolutly horrible with this stick. If you don't use spin, well it almost impossible to have a consistent feel. The thing is with a PD you can flatten your shots. With the ripstick it is just too damn inconsistent, you are forced to play with spin.

I am missing any fx Dunlop, i think they are better than the ultra and more comfortable. The fx500 tour is a blend of power with some control, but for power the fx500 cannot be ignored. With that rubber and groove grommet it adds additional power and comfort
I've tried the fx500 tour and it is fantastic, just not for me as it is too much power for me

@@MrWolfy1959 I've had both, but the earlier model was a bit raw without the rubber grommet groove system. The last version feels better and gives more comfort and more power. Sadly enough too much for me as i really wanted to like that racket but it doesn't fit my own power and playing style. I was hitting the fence.
But you have to understand that i already have more than enough power with a Dunlop cx200 tour 95 18x20..
The fx500 tour (last version) was so much fun to play with but i could not play a match with it due to what i already said. And stringing it really high and tight with a full bed of poly, then you kill the magic. I string my rackets around 23 kg poly.
Unfortunately, we don't carry them anymore so I can't really discuss them and I actually didn't love it when I did try it but that was so long ago and for such a short time that I can't really comment.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver biggest issue i have with Dunlop rackets is that they are too much below a workable spec. A strung swing weight of 306 for a cx200 tour 18x20 (95 inch ² head) is unplayable. I have 3 oof those cx200 tour 18x20 rackets that range from swing weight strung (incl dampener) between 306 and 310. Great as platform, but stock unstable and jarring and no power at all.
The same for the fx500 tour (v1 and v2). 98 16x19 and stiffer beam, then a lower swing weight is less of an issue, but also those where below 310 strung and incl dampener.
People who don't measure and customize their rackets will hate the feel of a platform racket. They require customization.
@@LarzB Wolfy has three FX500s and one FX500LS, all 2021 models. The LS is the only one modified (to match the other three), and they are strung at 40/42lbs (17 / 18L poly), or 45/53 lbs (17 poly / 17 synthetic). At these tensions and string setups, power, spin and feel are easily the best this Werewolf has ever played with.

We do not, unfortunately.
I would argue that Pro Staff 97 is actually quite powerful. Relatively open 16x19 pattern, stiffer rather than softer flex.
It's not lacking power, for a control racket.
It's powerful for a control/precision stick, but nowhere near as much as these guys.
I use a Head Speed MP imo that has more power than Aero which I also have also probably more power than Head Extreme MP which I also have but not used that much. Thanks

You could absolutely use it in a competition! You can control its power very effectively if you use spin, in fact, for a power racket, I find it more controlled than the average.
Casper Ruud uses an Ezone 100 and he can certainly play at the highest level with it.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver I just got it last week and I agree with all this - great for serving, easy spin, easy depth yet very controllable (through spin). Works great on flat shots too. I am very impressed by this frame so far. I can also see how it can work for pro players.
It took my arm a little bit of getting used to RA67 but is totally manageable.
You haven’t played with a power 98 until you’ve played with the pure strike 16x19. I assume you guys must not have it

Luca is there a big difference between the ezone 100 and the lighter 285 g Version? Could 98 be an Option too? I am at the end of my racket Journey and it will be an ezone. Now I am not sure which one would suit me best in my Development. I am female 42 in her 3rd year of Tennis, 163cm tall, pretty sportive, playing her first Club matches thriving to join our womens Club Team next year for tournaments. Forehand backhand are already quite solid, serve I is there but needs a Lot more power, slice I am learning now. Your insights would be much appreciated - love your Channel.

Wolfy’s current weapon is the previous FX 500. Switched from the Burn 100 ULS (heavily modified), and the Hit Squad noticed the difference IMMEDIATELY…pace, depth and weight of shots: check, check and check!! Would love to try out the 2023 model, in spite of the lower flex rating.
A lot of people seem to agree. We haven't brought the new ones in yet but Ill have to give them a try.
volleys are definitely punishing on the ezone. like, really bad. I like it for singles defensive baseline style but I had to switch racquets because I'm playing doubles too often.
Is vcore 98 plus better than vcore 98?
I tend to prefer standard length rackets but it's all personal preference at that point.

Oh come on with the Vcore 98. It does not belong on this list. It's just a powerful-ish racquet that you like, precisely because it is way lower in power than the others on this list and therefore has more control. Personally, I don't think it's great at anything, and it's got a too-muted disconnected feel. It has a low RA, but read the forums -- it causes a lot of people arm pain because the hoop is incredibly stiff, and offcenter hits transmit a lot of vibration. And besides, the Vcore 100 is better in every way (including comfort), without sacrificing control.
Don’t think there’s anything wrong with including a racquet that’s more spin-focused. He’s said before that for spin rackets, VCore 98 is probably the most powerful among the top brands. So it’s the most powerful spin-focused racquet, that balance is probably what makes it appealing. The extra margin from adding spin makes it different to any other power racquet albeit being less powerful - and could be beneficial to someone’s game. Don’t see why it’s not deserving of a mention?

And on your point about forums, a lot of people have liked it as well and didn’t report arm pains. The hoop allows for a better pocketing feel. The negatives you stated are valid l but it’s down to personal presence so don’t bash it 😂
After trying for months to make the vcore 98 work for me, I'm selling the damn stick. The muted response is what I hate about it.

@@Antondepadua way too muted and soft, I agree. It's not bad but I just don't feel connected to the ball. God, I miss my old Vcore SV 98, it was a perfect racquet for me. Little bit stiffer but good power and more control with the 16x20 string pattern. I just don't understand why they change it on 98 but kept it on a smaller head size Vcore 95.
I was surprised too when people mention that the Vcore is more powerful than the Ezone. But if you check out TWU's power mapping, the Vcore is Yonex's most powerful racquet.

Good video but I’d like to see how this so called power racquets perform with non power strings/tension and how low power racquets do with power oriented strings. Personally I think racquet weight/balance, strings type and tension is everything you need to generate power or spin, don’t really care about what technology they claim to have in the racquet.
You're right that those things play a huge roll, but technology is also super important nowadays.

I'm seeing a lot of comments about the Ezone being less comfortable. I'm definitely not the best judge of comfort since everything feels comfortable to me but I must say, the Vcore has a more "harsh" feel in general.
I may very well be wrong, though, which is why I'm always hesitant to talk about comfort.

The Gravity Pro, Pro Staff 97 and Perfect 97H would be the three that come to mind right away.
98 VCore really not powerful muted the 100 way better at all levels. Maybe Ezone 98 ?
