Here's the problem with Star Wars now. It's not simply about reaching enough eyeballs. It no longer has ANY impact on the cultural zeitgeist of society. At this point, it's about as impactful as, uh...Battlefield Earth or The Adventures of Pluto Nash. In fact, I'd argue it's even worse than that, because now every SW production has the baggage and stigma of being associated with THE MESSAGE, even if it might not necessarily be true.

NOTHING can fix the damage 'The Last Jedi' did to the franchise, except declaring EVERYTHING Kathleen Kennedy did "non-canon.' She should've been fired in 2017.
IGER and KENNEDY are both SEVENTY PLUS YEARS OLD !!!! Can you imagine your 70 year old grandma running Star Wars? Lucas was in his 30s when he did the original SW.
Then by that logic, calls for bringing Lucas back would then fall under the same criticism, if we remain consistent. If Lucas relied on the movies of his youth to make a franchise universally loved, what would be needed to make the current generation fall in love with a legacy franchise? That is one of Disney's biggest challenges, one you could easily have solved if they weren't playing the political game. They are limiting themselves creatively, giving away their market share and leadership position in the industry, and failing across the board just so that a couple of toxic employees can stick it to their old customers, who would STILL pay for decent entertainment if provided, even to a company that effectively told them to f$#@ off and who don't really deserve such loyal support from a company that does nothing to cultivate it. :/
One season of Firefly and the movie is speacial. Good writing, memorable charscters, and fertile land that will be called...this land. The Acolyte will never have that kind of love.
The moment they stabbed it in the heart with the Sequels it was game over. No amount of spooning round the turd can masque that there is always a giant turd floating in the punchbowl called the Sequels.
No, it did actually because everyone agrees acolyte was bad on some of the other stuff you had people going. It’s pretty good. I liked the last Jedi I like the visuals in the action in the rise of Skywalker. I like Mandalorian obviously except for season three Osaka was OKand/or is good etc. etc. this one it was universally panned by even the biggest Star Wars apologies
It wasnt a single point. It was several points of failure and middling displays of cinema in the main trilogy which drove it into the ground. Had those been good and all the ancillary projects been bad star wars would be considered good but thats not the world we live in. Disney star wars is a mess.
I would have laughed so hard if the article said that they wanted The Acolyte to have six seasons and a movie. I mean, I still laughed, but I would have laughed even harder.
At least Acolyte was so deliciously godawfully bad it became funny again to riff off. I wouldn't have mind more seasons of that. Mediocre Star Wars like Skeleton Crew, or just regular bad Star Wars like Ahsoka, that I couldn't care less about it.
This is a destruction of their own making, and if they're surprised by it, it just means that they're not only talentless hacks, but also talentless hacks that think we have the memory retention of goldfish.
Hollywood stopped having any respect for audiences decades ago. It simply took this long for that disdain to become brutally obvious to all of us "little people." And that's a shame. Because if you go back far enough, you can actually TRACK Hollywood's/Disney's slow creep into mediocrity! And all because they thought that we would slop it all up, like mindless sheep, no matter how mediocre it was!
Let's put a finer point on it. Anything to do with the High Republic was doomed from the very beginning. From a flawed premise to having changes to the science of Star Wars not make sense, it failed on so many levels, and the identity politics tanked any creative spark that may have been within the pages of the novel, young adult book, or the paint by numbers comic books. The pet rock navigator, Fat Boi rogue or whatever Acolyte is, the High Republic itself died with the cancellation, and that is what is most upsetting for those few that actually wanted it.
And let's not forget the overweight body positivity Jedi in the acolyte. You know the one who never seemed to lose weight even though the rigorous and sometimes arduous Jedi training should have done wonders for his physique
Because of TLJ, Solo has suffered. Because of Kenobi, Andor has suffered. Because of The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew has suffered. Yep, it’s all coming together.
The biggest problem I had with Andor was Andor. Let’s say I pitched you a story where I started with an old, old man writing about his life. He is described as healthy, with no scars, mended bones, or anything. He came up against one harrowing adventure after another, and each time he would write: "Is this it? Will I survive this dastardly trap, or will I die here? Isn’t this exciting?" You and the rest of the audience would say, "No, no it isn’t," because we know the ending of your story. You survive, and you won’t have any consequences. That was the same trap the Clone Wars TV series fell into. Whenever they asked, "Is this the end for Kenobi and Anakin? Will the plans of the dastardly Grievous succeed? Will they survive?" The audience could only groan and, with a sigh, say, "No, no, and yes..." Because we already KNOW when each of those characters would face their end, so it wasn’t really all that exciting. I think if Star Wars is to come back, they need several low-budget TV series (not as in they look cheap or anything like that) where the standard of storytelling BEGINS with Andor at its best. Slowly rebuild the audience's trust in the brand. If anybody tries to put anything into Star Wars that doesn’t belong, they will basically be shown the door. The same with Star Trek. Picard Season 3 is where it should begin when it comes to writing quality. After that, it should only go up, not down.
@@dejabu24I was talking in terms of viewership. It didn’t do that well despite the amount of acclaim it got. Personally, I never cared about the character given that he died in Rogue One. Whether the show is great or not is of no concern to me. You enjoy the show, you do you. It just isn’t for me.
@@ErikjustSo Phantom Menace is lame because we know Obi-wan and Anakin don’t die? Attack of the Clones has no suspense because Padme doesn’t get killed?
Ironically, all the foreign content on the Disney+ trailers seemed watchable. It's just the American stuff that seems to have a massive issue with storytelling. Whenever a foreign production company seems to be making something, it seems workable, even when it features a progressive theme or alternative couples. Funny how it works so well when you pay actual PROFESSIONALS to create GENUINE entertainment? ;)
I was thinking more on the lines of there's nothing can repair the damage the sequel trilogy has done to Star Wars... It's not even a corpse, It's a pile of ash that's been pissed on.
@@lieutenantcoloneltanyavond8273 That's fine. That will be the only time I will give anything SW a try just to see if they have changed when KK is gone. Until then I could care less what Disney puts out while she is there.
Which is too bad, because "Skeleton Crew" is like "Andor." A diamond in the rough, in the truest sense. I still watch what comes out. But I do it without giving Disney any of my money, because pirating is still a thing on the internet. I won't go into any more details than that. But trust me, I am happy having my cake, and eating it too, whilst laughing at Lucasfilm.
Why do you need Skeleton Crew to introduce children to Star Wars?! Just let them watch the first three movies, for f**k sake. Worked for me when I was a kid.
Star Wars has turned into Star Trek now, no one cares about it anymore. You are correct they should have tried bringing the older fans back first. Do you know what the original trilogy had, my grandparents enjoyed it, my parents enjoyed it and my sister and I as young kids at the time loved it. Star Wars doesn't have that anymore and I don't think they can bring the magic back they've damaged it beyond repair.
This. Sad state of affairs, like seriously what could they do that would bring people back? Was a Star Wars fan all my life, now i just don't care anymore....
@@brucelee6815 It does, overall look like trash. The two franchise are beyond love now. The only positive thing is the two are not as bad off as Dr. who.
True, but Star Wars was never as intellectual as Star Trek. With Star Wars you could add any kind of action as long as it features a Star Wars setting and familiar characters. With Star Trek, Abrams was COMPLETELY out of his dept, as well as Kurtzman. You can't just add all action to it and think your work is done - there needs to be deeper meanings, connections and themes behind Trek stories for it to work properly, otherwise it says absolutely nothing. There was, for example, one Voyager episode where space garbage was dumped in space, which was an abvious analogy of human pollution of Earth's oceans. NONE of the NuTrek show writers seem to be able to successfully write episodes with themes like that in a Trek format that older Trek fans can recognize as smart Trek writing. Maybe if the Trek shows can get decent sci-fi writers or sci-fi stories on board, like some of the old shows did, that might help, but that would require the new show writers to have a working knowledge of all the sci-fi classics stories across all the eras of sci-fi writing, and decent writing capability.
The Acolyte have completely demolished the Star Wars brand to such an awful degree that I as a star wars fan just decided to move away from it like I honestly feel apathy at best to wvery new release Disney plan to make, with only times I feel *SOMETHING* is either by star wars what if that are not releated to Disney Cannon, or when content creator making fun of Disney for the downfall
Darth Plagueis didn't appear in the Acolyte. You tell anybody that Darth Plagueis is one of the richer and more powerful people in the galaxy; and I don't think that anybody could identify him with the shy hobo that apeared in The Acolyte.

I'd say since the New Hope remake in 2015. It was evident then they had no new ideas. They actively undid everything accomplished in the original trilogy so they could reset everything to how it was at the start of the original New Hope. The Empire didn't fall, the Jedi didn't return, Han reverts back to being a smuggler, Leia carries on being a rebel living on forest moons. Then they killed off Han without ever reuniting the original core group of characters, something any half wit would know is on top of the list of things fans would want to see in a sequel trilogy. I don't know why people give that film a pass and say Last Jedi was where it went to sh1t.
@@JurassicRod This right here. TFA already Amber turd the bed. The Last Jedi rolled around in said violated bed making it even worse. Like we had loads of EU stories that took place after Return of the Jedi they could have used but instead we got a 25% different Star Wars (A New Hope) remake. Which also happened with Star Trek 09 with Jar Jar Abrams effectively ruining two franchises.
@@JurassicRod yes. I remember how excited we were - A New Star Wars Movie! And then... When went to see it in theatre, the first minutes after the crawl I felt something is off. That didn't feel like Star Wars. It was like watching an average sci-fi action movie.

Can you just imagine... Three seasons and a movies? That is like the punchline to a joke that didn't land. The only question that really remains is how much worse could it have gotten?
Imagine being so tone deaf to your audience that even when handed one of the greatest fictional universe's to work with you repeatedly fail miserably and use it to push social, and political narratives.
I mean, imagine you are given the biggest scfi property in history, a genuine guaranteed money press, and your first order of business is to change everything that people love about it, and rather try to win the old audience with new offerings, the second thing you do is appoint thin-skinned creatives to work on something they have no clue how it works. Then let same creatives chase your audience away to cover their obvious commercial failures and allow them to make MORE of the stuff that fail. It's totally bizarre business decisions that makes zero logical sense, and it's not just an isolated issue in that company - it stretches across multiple studios. So the big question isn't can it be saved anymore, the question now is what is the point to even try anymore? We KNOW they will never retcon the sequel trilogy, so no EU, and we know they will simply push more politics into it, because those types of "creatives" said they would never stop. I'm also tired of hearing "it can be saved" when we all know that's highly unlikely. Not until it is handed back to true Star Wars lovers again, and I am not talking about the "sure I'll say I love it in interviews for that big paycheck" types.
Disney has actually made me not want to introduce my kids to any star wars including the original trilogy. I'm that adverse to their terrible take on Star Wars. Star Wars is probably going to be that old sci-fi dad likes instead of something I show them. The silver lining is Disney pulled all their Star Wars stuff on to D+ only so that means my kids won't run across it on Netflix. The same goes for most of their new stuff. Locking their stuff away on D+ protects children from it.

At the end of the day this is still all George Lucas’s fault. He knew Kathleen Kennedy was creatively bankrupt & had warped perspectives on creative storytelling, but he asked her to run Lucasfilm anyway 🤪 Yet another bad George decision I’m sure Marsha woulda axed.
I cancelled my Disney Plus subscription before The Acolyte began streaming. Why pay to watch a sad corporation crap all over my favourite franchise with each new show.
I am not watching for one reason, and one reason only: Kathleen Kennedy still works at Lucasfilm. Fire her, and ill watch. Provided that they don't replace her with someone equally toxic.
If Disney hadn't announced its commitment to trans issues and if I hadn't been disappointed with Boba Fett, and only Skeleton Crew was next, I would try Skeleton Crew. But I don't trust it.
Their "vision" for the Acolyte was: a feminist Force, a carefully race-mixed group of homosexual women being morally superior to the men. And practically no White men allowed on screen. Not surprising when the director was a homosexual woman who put a Black homosexual, her so-called "wife," in the show. Letting her play a homosexual with superpowers on screen was probably the whole point.
Watched the first two episodes of SC and tuned out. At this point I'm happier just playing Star Wars The Old Republic than wasting my time with Disney's Star Wars. And that should say it all.
Don't forget that Kathleen fought to get Leslye and her project in, wile Disney had a no hire policy during the pandemic. So Kathleen probably promised her several seasons and movies without any plans or scripts.
Didn't they also fire a significant number of employees and made Park cast members have to organize a food bank for themselves, while giving one of their executives several million in a bonus? That was TERRIBLE optics, and I can't seem to recall that they ever did anything to fix those optics, either.
I tried to finish watching the acolyte 3 times, and still can't get through it. My kids watched the first episode of skeleton crew and that was enough for them to move on.
Why are they making "kids movie" goonies Star Wars ? We HATED when they did that after the first saga. Disney can't help themselves. Lucasfilm isn't course correcting, they're ass-kissing & pandering to Disney to save their ass...
@ToyToy-z2t it really wasn't. Family friendly? Yes. Kid friendly even? Yes. Its a movie about an interstellar war. Tons of people are killed on screen throughout, arms are cut off, jawas and Luke's family's bodies burning, captain of Leia's blockade runner choked to death, millions of people killed at Alderaan, Ben Kenobi struck down by Vader.. almost all the Rebel pilots die.. even R2D2 takes a hit. That was PG stuff back in the day, even if it was a space opera. George Lucas can say it was, that doesn't make it true. One of the key indicators is (but not exclusively the case) the question of were there kids IN it, like centrally featured - were kids the heroes? No. In Star Wars, Empire, Jedi? No. Not until post Jedi with the Ewoks mini-series stuff that was so cringe, much like the kid in The Phantom Menace was. Lucas decided later that it was for kids, or had no idea what that even meant anymore and TPM had so many mixed maturity & immaturity tones ..THAT movie was more for for kids than not and yet while it was filled with kiddie silliness featured adults being killed by being cut in half... it divided the audience. It couldn't seem to make up its mind.
Skeleton crew may be decent, but one decent show will not redeem the franchise. We had high hopes for the Mandolorian only for Kathleen to tear them down with her hubris stupidity and ego.
Spielberg and Lucas are to blame for not firing her before we were even born. They created this monster and deserve to have their legacy be tarnished. I feel nothing but 😂😂😂
It's possible KK is a great administrative or HR type person in corporate America but those people tend to be terrible creative types. Either way SW will probably never be the cultural juggernaut it once was and that 100% is on KK. That's her legacy.
A Great HR? WOW thats some cope. I know you're trying to give her say the benefit of the doubt but HR WOW HR can be removed tomorrow and nothing of value would be lost HR is a cesspool of nasty brown nosing toadies and bitter hateful women.
I've heard that audio of Spielberg making fun of Kathleen Kennedy so many times. Where is it from? It must be from a really old interview, pre-2016 at least. I'd be curious to know the larger context of what Spielberg was saying.
I disagree that the audience punishing Skeleton Crew is somehow unfair. The audience can watch or not watch for any reason it chooses. Punishing Disney by not watching Skeleton Crew is a valid way for the audience to voice their displeasure. The audience owes Disney nothing and the sooner Disney figures out that their existence depends upon audience good will, the better.
I tuned out of Star Wars when George Lucas was still ruining the franchise with his prequels. Put my foot back into Star Wars Universe with two spoofs. Weird Al's *"The Saga Begins"* & Mel Brook's *"Spaceballs".* Since then I've been fully *"GAY"* walking away from Star Wars.
Nothing was confirmed on screen, they just appeared for one scene and were concerned for what happened to her (the latest episode hints at why they would be concerned for her and it's a very good reason) and the other kids, nothing about the show so far will hurt any kid in any way. This show is definitely nowhere near as bad as the Acolyte, but I do agree with Andre, the target demographic is definitely the people who remeber the 80's or content from the 80's, who at this point have almost all left.
Disney, like so many other "major" companies in the entertainment industry have forgotten the #1 rule for success in that industry - Make a good product, and most people will enjoy it. Make an expensive product, and only a very few will enjoy it.
I've lost almost all interest in Star Wars. I'm planning to watch the second season of Andor, and that's probably it. The only reason I keep Disney+ is because my granddaughter likes it.
Who is the next director Kennedy? Using the Harvey Weinstein's personal assistant didn't work out. How about the Amazon delivery guy that delivered Harvey a package in 2012? He's as qualified as Headland.
Do these people at disney realize star wars is destroyed it is the message wrapped in a star wars skin suit it is worthless now disney should sell or gi e it away
I was defending Disney Star Wars and Filoni and Favreau as people who would continue its original legacy. Until I watched Skeleton Crew and found out they are also involved in the whole wokeness agenda. I’m surprised nobody cared or realized about the lesbian moms in episode three.
I haven’t watched Star Wars in a LONG time. Since the second new movie. Never saw the third one. Or anything after that. In my mind. There’s six movies, the clone wars show, and legends. Everything else never happened. Best decision I made regarding a ip Im a fan of.
I honestly don't care how "good" Skeleton Crew might be. First of all, it's not Star Wars. I hate how people keep saying that the Amblin vibes are a good thing, that is simply not true. It's like putting a Jane Austen story in the Star Wars universe...yeah, you could do it...yeah, people might like the Jane Austen vibes, but it's NOT Star Wars. Secondly, even if it somehow is tolerable to watch, I'm sorry, this is a DEAD BRAND. Disney chased away audiences for over a decade now in favor of the mythical "modern audience". They got what they wanted, there's no backtracking now. It would take YEARS of really good STAR WARS MOVIES, not quasi decent amblin vibe nostalgia bait, to bring me back. (Plus, let's be real, Stranger Things already did the Amblin thing, this is a dollar short and a decade late)
Decades of great extended universe games, books, and comics ... and they go with space lesbian witches chanting "the power of one, the power of two, the power of many". KK has tombstoned a multibillion dollar brand.
Older fans might find it amusing for a few seconds that Skeleton Crew homages 80s stuff but that alone does not make something worth dedicating hours to watching. Older and younger audiences alike want interesting characters and good stories. Not nostalgia bait, virtue signaling and focusing on skin color and sexuality. those things are not interesting.
1:14 “The Amblin Entertainment vibe might pull on the heartstrings of people in their mid-to-late 40s and up, but to most kids having grown up with UA-cam, it’s horribly quaint, which indeed you can tell from the ratings.” Ratings aside, as someone born in the 90s who saw a few Amblin movies but really grew up with stuff like The Giver and Divergent in the 2000s, it actually feels more like those to me. The dystopian “sci-fi world you grow up in that’s about to choose a place for you but then stuff happens to interrupt that” is actually a bigger source of nostalgia for me than any Amblin vibe. In fact, Amblin vibes didn’t even occur to me until other people began talking about them. This show is like one of those dystopian young-adult Divergent/Hunger Games stories - while also being a pirate thing like the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, which I also get nostalgia for. So I think those things will be what my generation and below think of, more than E.T., etc.
I recently watched Heavier Trip (2024), The Iron Mask (1929), Kromoleo (2024). The first has a mixed cast, the second is an old school b&w silent feature, the third is an Indonesian horror with a female lead. They're ALL still better than what that company has made because every single one of these movies has heart, doesn't need to rely on politics and just tried to make the very best universal story they could. You could tell people had fun making them.
The Acolyte was truly TRULY an awful series. Not because of politics, LESBIANS or woke bull. It was awful because it just terrible terible story. A story meant ro Piss off as many people JUST SO IT COULD GET PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT IT with its storytelling decisions, characters, nostalgia baiting. I am so glad I didn't have Disney Plus when it came out. I mean I didn't watch Secret Invasion when I had Disney Plus which is like A MILLION TIMES WORSE than The Acolyte. But whatever. Disney already digging it's grave with Marvel while Star Wars just keeps digging even deeper.
As I have said many times, I dipped out when they killed off Han Solo and I never looked back. The main characters in Star Wars are Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacka and the droids. The EU explored their fate thoroughly for 40 years and that's what kept Star Wars alive. That's the real canon. The sequel should have been the Thrawn trilogy.
It's still Kathy's Star Wars. After all this time of failures! Disney is incompetence turned up to 11. I could have made this comment years ago. The dial needs to extend beyond 11.
Star Wars can be saved, but it needs to go back to its roots. Doing so will get rid of most of the Disney additions to Star Wars, including the sequel trilogy, and bring back the EU to cannon. Star Wars before Disney was a timeless story at its core.
The Acolyte really destroyed my lifelong love for STAR WARS. I grew up on STAR WARS. I wasn't around for the movies; but, I really loved watching the films on VHS when I was a kid. I owned STAR WARS toys and memorabilia. I scoured the internet while at school waiting for news about the prequels. I actually liked THE FORCE AWAKENS (for what it was). I felt that I wanted to see where STAR WARS went next. Then, THE LAST JEDI happened. I had owned every STAR WARS film on VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and digital...until THE LAST JEDI. I couldn't believe that Kathleen Kennedy would hire a guy who didn't understand STAR WARS to direct the most important STAR WARS sequel since EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. I watched LAST JEDI in theaters twice...and the second time left me bored. I never bought it for home viewing. I never watched it again. It felt like someone tried to reimagine and reinterpret STAR WARS and its characters. I felt like STAR WARS was trying to pick itself up after that debacle...but it hit the franchise low point with THE ACOLYTE. It's like Kathleen Kennedy's attempt to destroy the franchise with THE LAST JEDI wasn't finished. She actually hired an even WORSE creator-writer-director than Johnson. The show's story was worse than most of the worst fan fiction efforts that used to be found online. It was identity politics, woke politics, feminist politics and LGBTQ politics in a single package of bad acting and terrible storytelling. The one thing that it lacked was STAR WARS continuity and long-held lore. THE ACOLYTE was so bad that I've not really wanted to watch anything from STAR WARS lately. I'll hopefully get around to SKELETON CREW. However, I kind of hope that Disney tosses Kennedy and somehow picks up a new Star Wars story to build upon that takes place not quite so long ago in the same galaxy far, far away.
I will never watch any Star Wars as long as Disney owns it. They don’t deserve it.

Ive watched 7-9 twice in theater only because I have a list and because I wanted to like it but something didnt hit right with me and I was trying to figure out what that was. I don't own 7-9 in any capacity and won't watch it again. Kinda funny how much they've alienated their core audience
Indeed.
The Acolyte didn't kill SW.
It was just a final kick in the nuts to the franchise.
@@sigmacademy if you're not seeing them on x, then they are most likely on bluesky or whatever it is they've decided to meltdown in with their piranha bubble.

I don’t buy garbage. Since Last Jedi I wouldn’t touch a Disney product with a ten foot pole.
NOTHING can fix the damage 'The Last Jedi' did to the franchise, except declaring EVERYTHING Kathleen Kennedy did "non-canon.' She should've been fired in 2017.
You spelled force awakens wrong.
IGER and KENNEDY are both SEVENTY PLUS YEARS OLD !!!! Can you imagine your 70 year old grandma running Star Wars? Lucas was in his 30s when he did the original SW.
A bit unrelated, but there’s no fucking Way Kathleen Kennedy is 70, that bitch looks like she’s in her mid 40s
It guess demons don’t age
@@sigmacademyNobody expects George to come back at this point, it is worth pointing out that KK is older now than George was when he retired though
One season of Firefly and the movie is speacial. Good writing, memorable charscters, and fertile land that will be called...this land. The Acolyte will never have that kind of love.
God, please don’t let them remake Firefly.

The Acolyte didn't kill Star Wars. Disney was already perfoming CPR on that IP long before this TV series was even a twinkle in somebody's eye.
Yes, but "The Acolyte" is clearly the "lethal injection that finished off the convict," in this case.
It wasnt a single point. It was several points of failure and middling displays of cinema in the main trilogy which drove it into the ground. Had those been good and all the ancillary projects been bad star wars would be considered good but thats not the world we live in. Disney star wars is a mess.
Another well thought out post DELETED by the YT algo.
I would have laughed so hard if the article said that they wanted The Acolyte to have six seasons and a movie. I mean, I still laughed, but I would have laughed even harder.
It was three seasons Headland planned out in her head along with a movie, three seasons of dog shit!
At least Acolyte was so deliciously godawfully bad it became funny again to riff off. I wouldn't have mind more seasons of that. Mediocre Star Wars like Skeleton Crew, or just regular bad Star Wars like Ahsoka, that I couldn't care less about it.
Stop that. You would have needed MEDICAL ATTENTION from the laughter that would have induced. Let's not get ridiculous here...
Six seasons and a trilogy 🤣
This is a destruction of their own making, and if they're surprised by it, it just means that they're not only talentless hacks, but also talentless hacks that think we have the memory retention of goldfish.
Hollywood stopped having any respect for audiences decades ago. It simply took this long for that disdain to become brutally obvious to all of us "little people." And that's a shame. Because if you go back far enough, you can actually TRACK Hollywood's/Disney's slow creep into mediocrity! And all because they thought that we would slop it all up, like mindless sheep, no matter how mediocre it was!
They think we have an IQ close to our shoe size and the memory of a goldfish.
Echo chambers of delusion are a thing.
It's a basic business concept everyone should know. It's cheaper to keep your current customers than getting new ones.
Disney don't know that.
Well, when you give a monster assistant the wheel, what do you expect!
Speaking of which, didn't Wheel of Time drop another season trailer recently?
That Spielberg interview excerpt is both hilarious & damning.
Because of TLJ, Solo has suffered.
Because of Kenobi, Andor has suffered.
Because of The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew has suffered.
Yep, it’s all coming together.
Andor has nothing to do with kenobi , most fans didn't expect to be that good , you'll see S2
Isn’t this exciting?"
You and the rest of the audience would say, "No, no it isn’t," because we know the ending of your story. You survive, and you won’t have any consequences.
That was the same trap the Clone Wars TV series fell into. Whenever they asked, "Is this the end for Kenobi and Anakin? Will the plans of the dastardly Grievous succeed? Will they survive?"
The audience could only groan and, with a sigh, say, "No, no, and yes..."
Because we already KNOW when each of those characters would face their end, so it wasn’t really all that exciting.
*_In these cases, suffering leads to hate._*
You sold KK short she didn’t just destroy Star Wars , she destroyed Star Wars and Indiana Jones and Willow
All of lucasfilms IPs.
Ironically, all the foreign content on the Disney+ trailers seemed watchable. It's just the American stuff that seems to have a massive issue with storytelling. Whenever a foreign production company seems to be making something, it seems workable, even when it features a progressive theme or alternative couples. Funny how it works so well when you pay actual PROFESSIONALS to create GENUINE entertainment? ;)
The Acolyte didn’t kill Star Wars, it just rolled its corpse into a shallow grave.
I was thinking more on the lines of there's nothing can repair the damage the sequel trilogy has done to Star Wars... It's not even a corpse, It's a pile of ash that's been pissed on.
I don’t care how good Skeleton Crew is. I can wait to watch it until after Kennedy is gone. That misandrist is not getting a penny from me.
And when she goes, KK approved successor will take her place and all the -SW hating activists- employees she hired will keep working at Lucasfilm.
Skeleton Crew isn't that good. It's not awful, it's mediocre.
Why do you need Skeleton Crew to introduce children to Star Wars?! Just let them watch the first three movies, for f**k sake. Worked for me when I was a kid.

Same here. Original trilogy was how I got into the series when I was little.

My father loves the last Jedi says it does not brake cannon and shows how powerful Luke is that he can project himself half way across the galaxy
There are not only Johnson and Headland to blame, Abrams did his part, too.
That recording of Spielberg is crazy.

Nothing has been able to fix Disney Star Wars since The Last Jedi.
Disney your tears are delicious 😋
Can you just imagine... Three seasons and a movies? That is like the punchline to a joke that didn't land. The only question that really remains is how much worse could it have gotten?
Disney SW content makes the Holiday Special look Oscar worthy.
Imagine being so tone deaf to your audience that even when handed one of the greatest fictional universe's to work with you repeatedly fail miserably and use it to push social, and political narratives.
Imagine watching your favourite family sitcom and then one episode a season gets all serious about peadophiles and stuff
Keep all children far away from diddling Disney.
Locking their stuff away on D+ protects children from it.
in a strange way it seems that was the point it feels like all of this was targeted by feminists and post modernists. The worthless dorks that made fun of us whilst giving highfives to the dumb jocks got in charge and are dunking on all we love. Their not even hot or fit or intelligent they are just the most worthless little talentless weasals that brown nosed their way in as ever and we always see the results. Every woman thinks oh it will be MY TURN because I was just there low grade low quality humans
So it turns out, if you tell Star Wars fans the shows you're making are not for them enough times, they eventually believe you. Who'd have thought?
Sometimes I almost wish I had a Disney+ subscription just so I'd have the pleasure of canceling it
At the end of the day this is still all George Lucas’s fault.
*_Andor Season 1+2 cost $645Million._*
At least THAT money is going into something that's actually GOOD! lol
But does it really matter if it is any good when the franchise is no longer viable? :/
I am not watching for one reason, and one reason only:
Kathleen Kennedy still works at Lucasfilm. Fire her, and ill watch. Provided that they don't replace her with someone equally toxic.
They told me to go away, so I did
The most recurring phrase in the industry: "cancelled Star Wars movie"
Skeleton Crew is way worse than The Acolyte was. When compared, the Acolyte is much better 😂😂😂
That audio clip from Spielberg should be played on an endless loop over the loudspeakers whenever KK is on stage.
What context did he say that in? Where is it from?
Why are they making "kids movie" goonies Star Wars ? We HATED when they did that after the first saga. Disney can't help themselves. Lucasfilm isn't course correcting, they're ass-kissing & pandering to Disney to save their ass...
Star Wars is a kids movie
I feel nothing but 😂😂😂
@phatmantv you're right those two really should have gave her the pink slip when they had the chance
What was worse, "The Acolyte" or "Star Trek Discovery?" Please tell me, because I didn't watch either, so I don't know.
It's possible KK is a great administrative or HR type person in corporate America but those people tend to be terrible creative types. Either way SW will probably never be the cultural juggernaut it once was and that 100% is on KK. That's her legacy.
her grave stone will say (took down the biggest sci-fi franchise believeing she "made it better" may her soul never find peace.
Your eloquence in describing the ruin wrought by KK and Co. to "Star Wars" is unmatched. There is nothing I can add. Bravo, Andre!
The Last Jedi destroyed star wars …. The rest are just collateral damage
I tuned out of Star Wars when George Lucas was still ruining the franchise with his prequels.

I won't bother watching it then. Tired of every modern story having over representation of these types.
@unversedhero6028 It shouldn’t even be there at all, especially in a supposed kids show!
Disney, like so many other "major" companies in the entertainment industry have forgotten the #1 rule for success in that industry - Make a good product, and most people will enjoy it. Make an expensive product, and only a very few will enjoy it.
did they really forget this seems all too Lockstep and its targeted at very specific positive masculine roles and careers seems very orchestrated

The Acolyte was Star Wars' Viking funeral. Now it's dead, Jim. Deader than dead.
I think it is a shame because Skeleton Crew is not just okay/good, it is great TV and by far the best Disney has done in a long while.
Nobody wants to see the corpse of Star Wars rotting on the Disney screen.
Decades of great extended universe games, books, and comics ... and they go with space lesbian witches chanting "the power of one, the power of two, the power of many". KK has tombstoned a multibillion dollar brand.
In fairness to KK she did make a good suggestion once: using a mime artist for ET's hands. That's about it, though.
A shame the Trans Storm Troopers lost their show premiere...
1:14 “The Amblin Entertainment vibe might pull on the heartstrings of people in their mid-to-late 40s and up, but to most kids having grown up with UA-cam, it’s horribly quaint, which indeed you can tell from the ratings.”
Ratings aside, as someone born in the 90s who saw a few Amblin movies but really grew up with stuff like The Giver and Divergent in the 2000s, it actually feels more like those to me.
Star Wars as a quality brand ended after 2006. Full stop.
That Speilberg clip is devastating for her.
Skeleton Crew is reaping what Accolyte sowed. And what a bountyful crop of appathy it is.
For some of us, the damage was done over half a decade before the Acolyte, Andre.
Apathy is death, and the fandom is beyond apathy at this point
Stop it. Hes dead already.
I believe Manny's character's name was 'Smilo Ren'. Let's get our facts straight shall we?
