Danganronpa 2 streams were masterpieces, 1 is great and v3 was painful as hell , we still had alot of memes from dgr , but the persona 4 ones are iconic at this point
Novel v Adventure mode - this was probably mentioned during the actual stream at some point but I'll explain it here for any curious. 999 was originally made for the Nintendo DS, and its story and mechanics were specifically made to take advantage of the dual screens of the DS. In the original game, there were no two modes - instead, 'Adventure' mode is equivalent to the top screen with active character dialogue, and the narrative 'Novel' mode is equivalent to the accompanying narration on the bottom screen. When they went to port the game to PC and PlayStation, novel and adventure mode were their workarounds to the DS's dual screen display. I recommend switching back and forth between them; especially pay attention to adventure mode in big group convos. However, most importantly, there are some things they did in the original DS version of the game that I think are absolutely brilliant narrative and puzzle wise that couldn't be ported over, and I highly recommend researching what had to change from the original DS version after beating this game.
Isn't the repetition also because the dialogue in ADV mode was edited to say shit that the narration says? Because ADV mode exists, the dialogue needs to be able to stand on its own without narration. So you just get worse writing in the ports. Basically for anyone with the interest and means, I'd recommend doing a DS run for playing 999 over the worse 3DS product or any ports. But unfortunately, nobody is going to read these comments if they haven't already played 999 or decided to watch Joe's 999 VODS instead of playing 999 themselves. Since fast forward exists, there's only very tiny inconvenience of losing access to the FLOW screen. I feel like all the other pros outweigh this.

in a way the game coming out and joe later playing it and thinking its a dog immediately without even figuring out the intended image further proves morphogenetics
There were moments where Joe was being sarcastic in his predictions. I wont say which ones just for spoiler reasons, but I had to take a couple of shots after his meme'd out brain was able to literally GUESS certain plot elements. The game is just that fucking stupid at times; terrible game that's also a 10/10, perfect fit for Joe ngl

Holy crap these characters believe in some wild conspiracy theories, and can remember tons of oddly specific facts about all this made up BS. For the record, the Titanic had two sister ships, the Olympic and the Britannic. The Olympic was the first one built, making it the first of the Olympic class (the naming convention for ships is to name the class after the first ship of that class). So the Titanic and Britannic were the other Olympic class ships, and the ones that met untimely ends. The Titanic by an iceberg obviously, the Britannic by a sea mine after she was requisitioned by the British Navy in WW1 and used as a hospital ship. (It wasn't called the "Gigantic" and the wreck is definitely still on the sea floor.) The Olympic had a few minor collisions but nothing that could be called a "troubled history." She had quite the career actually, she also served in WW1 as a troop ship where she earned the nickname "Old Reliable" before returning to civilian service at the end of the war. She was the largest, fastest, and most luxurious ship around for most of her life. She was retired in the 1930's after she became unprofitable due to increased competition by newer and faster ships, then the cruise ship industry as a whole slumped due to the Great Depression. She was finally sold for scrap in 1935 after 24 years of service. The Titanic and her sisters have long been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories, the most ridiculous by far being the Olympic/Titanic switch. It was conceived by Robin Gardiner in his book, 'Titanic: The Ship That Never Sank?' In response British historian Gareth Russell called the theory "so painfully ridiculous that one can only lament the thousands of trees which lost their lives to provide the paper on which it has been articulated." Historians and archivists have written some of the sassiest corrections I've ever read, I love it. Edit: it keeps getting worse. Yes, some people wrote stories that "predicted" the Titanic sinking and there not being enough lifeboats. Because ships sink all the time, even today, and at the time the issue of inadequate safety measures aboard ships (lifeboats included) was a well-known problem for a long time. Newspapers wrote about it and deckhands striked over it. It wasn't a question of IF it would happen, only WHEN. The Titanic is famous in part because it was what finally caused enough public outcry to force safety regulations regarding ships to improve. The psychic ghost stuff takes the cake tho.
Thanks for discussing narcolepsy in such depth around the 8:45:00 mark. I'm a moderate-ish insomniac, it takes me on average 3-4 hours to get to sleep but I've gone without sleep for over 3 days several times. The worst I get are auditory and visual hallucinations, voices and shadows respectively, neither of which scare me anymore. Even though it feels like hell every time I have to sleep, I realize how easy I've had it compared to living with narcolepsy. Sleep paralysis sounds like the most horrifying thing imaginable. You're a damn strong person, Joe.
I think Yakuza is doing wacky stuff better because the player is free to do the wacky stuff whenever he wants, so it does not interrupt the story, but rather provide a good comic relief.

The fact that June advocates so hard for not leaving Ace behind and then is totally okay with Junpei tricking the group into abandoning two other people is just insane. She thinks Lotus is the worst for picking one person to sacrifice and then doesn't give a fuck about her boyfriend sacrificing two just to stay with her. I know nothing about these games btw, I'm commenting at that part in the story, but still what the hell. It's totally against the former characterization she's gotten for her to just continue flirting with Junpei like he didn't just show himself to be an absolute bastard.
This is my first time experiencing the game and god damn I was so close to dropping this at that part. I really hope jumpy gets some kind of repercussions for his actions. I’m only sticking with it cause it’s one of the branches of story but if it wasn’t I just couldn’t rock with the game anymore

As such using the water on the door knob wouldnt have worked. I didnt think of it at all either, but some people in the comments were really advocating for the puzzle som i thought it over again.
The only time I ever had sleep paralysis it was a similar situation, where I was taking a nap in a place I don't normally sleep. It was combined with a hallucination nightmare where I could see everything around me like I was completely normally awake but there was also a japanese-style ghost girl coming towards me from the other side of the room. It was pretty terrifying...
DAMN IT UA-cam! I was waiting for this for years. How many play throughs of this game do I need to see, how many Joseph Anderson videos do I need to see and repeat before your algorithm flags this as "relevant to my interests!?" A Month. It took me a month before I saw this in the side bar while watching "Ranking all 61 Stephen King novels in 19 minutes or less!!!!!"
I've never been in bondage before, but I'd say sleep paralysis wouldn't quite be the same. In bondage, if you go to move your arm your muscles would tense and you would feel the resistance of the bondage. But in sleep paralysis, you would try to move your arm and it just wouldn't move. Multiply this to your entire body and you will be screaming in your mind, trying to will yourself into motion but nothing will happen. You become a hostage in your own body with absolutely no agency. The hard part isn't the fact that you can't move, but the fact that your freshly awoken mind's starts in fight or flight state of panic. You try to flee, but you are paralyzed. You try to fight you own body, but you essentially have no body anymore. So you just have to sit there in your panic, elevated heart rate and heavy breathing, as your conscious mind screams. I can consistently wake up with sleep paralysis if I sleep on my stomach, so maybe if I do it enough times I'll get used to it. I feel like my body is trying to tell me that I something bad is gonna happen if I keep sleeping that way though, so I'll probably never test that theory.
8:43:00 wow thats absolutly terryfiying. i am happy to hear its better now thank you a lot about talking about this i didnot even know something like this could even exist. i think its really fascinating to hear that you only sleep 20 minutes at a time normally. but because of your narcilepty you instantly fall into REM sleep. so that should mean you get your "normal" amount of sleep each night?
the thing joe described with going into remsleep instantly or even before going to sleep i sometimes had when i had to wake up very early to go to school (at like 5 because i had 1 hour 30 min commute) on the bus or during certain classes and i sometimes get it when i'm reading in bed at night but i don't think it happens when i purposefully go to sleep

But Joe, Lotus needs to expose her skin so she can breathe via photosynthesis, and therefore you now have to regret your thoughts and actions!
10:09:23 That chat comment about Snake being the blade of Miquella made me laugh more than it should since both Snake and Malenia are blind and have prosthetic arms. Snake also claims to be "a great fighter" and has a sibling.
God, finally it's the day of reckoning.
He finally played 999, i couldn't be any more happier!
Yesss I was waiting for this, can't wait to see your reactions
(that bit at the beginning was so good, amazing start lmao)
7:34:43 LMFAOOOOOO I LOVE THAT VIDEO
Chat's a bit annoying, every time Joe predicts something correctly they start spamming :) pretty much spoiling everyone else?? Why not just do the semi ambiguous "HE KNOWS" meme? Just blatant spoilers?
When he said “No it’s not it’s upside down it’s 9” I died laughing
It feels good when you have seen a lot of his streams and laugh at the subtle references he does to them like in 5:52:22
7:42:20 was fucking LEGENDARY
coming back to this after the end of ZTD and thinking of how far we've come since the crystallization of glycerin
Oh yes, I was waiting for this literally for years now.
Ha, I'm actually getting into dbd now.
no wonder the dog is now easier to see, after all, memes are the dna of the soul
in a way the game coming out and joe later playing it and thinking its a dog immediately without even figuring out the intended image further proves morphogenetics
"9 hours btw" really sums up this game perfectly
Chat loses their mind for 10+ minutes and then joe hits them with the 3:51:20
Joe is an unhinged abuser.
Amazing playthrough, it was everything I hoped for after playing the series specifically in advance of Joe since I knew he'd one day play it. Have to wait until June 2 for VLR, and who knows how long for ZTD, life is simply unfair.
i really wanna see him play fire emblem, but it's so far down the games list it's probably gonna take an actual year lol
AND THEN WE GOTTA DO AI THE SOMNIUM FILES
They’re all already done. Time is a weird thing
By the way, the voice of Seven is Alastor from Hazbin Hotel!
Ed Bosco is a crazy versatile VA.
I originally found Joe by UA-cam recommending me some great analysis videos on those serious games. But now I just enjoy watching him playing anime games cuz it's way funnier lmao.
Joe's streams are fever dreams man
3:27:59 - I love June
Joe what motivated this new choice to combine streams into bigger videos? I personally love it
Fewer checks on bigger videos, also UA-cam likes big videos in my opinion. I don't know for sure.
Having "Part #" in the video's title is akin to death sentence
@@gestaltengine6369 it has part # in the title.
love the first two Zero Escape games. Can't wait to see him, hopefully, play through the series
I came here with zero knowledge of the game solely because Joe once said on his AI Somnium stream that 999 is probably his favourite weeb game.
I have high expectations for you, game. Hope we have a good time together
i honestly think that 999 is the best weeb game-- that and the great ace attorney 1 imo XD
Lol thanks for commenting, I was considering dropping these streams because he seemed to be hating the game
(It wasn't called the "Gigantic" and the wreck is definitely still on the sea floor.)
The Olympic had a few minor collisions but nothing that could be called a "troubled history." She had quite the career actually, she also served in WW1 as a troop ship where she earned the nickname "Old Reliable" before returning to civilian service at the end of the war.
It was conceived by Robin Gardiner in his book, 'Titanic: The Ship That Never Sank?'
In response British historian Gareth Russell called the theory "so painfully ridiculous that one can only lament the thousands of trees which lost their lives to provide the paper on which it has been articulated."
Historians and archivists have written some of the sassiest corrections I've ever read, I love it.
Yknow what they say, regulations are written in blood!
Joe playing anime video games are my comfort videos
Just as I started watching the VODs on Twitch. Good timing, Joe.
thank you for putting the stream chat on the vods!
Like the Titanic has two Sister Ships the Olympic and the Gigantic, Joe also has a Sister Ship, the Pedantic 😆
5:20:40 the cracking the cryptic reference was so good
Really enjoyed this playthrough. For all new viewers, these streams are totally worth the watch!
I only just discovered that the game Balan Wonderworld exists, and I can't believe Joe's chat hasn't forced him to play it yet.
We had a big vote game so we can't really "force" Joe to play Balan.. unfortunately :(
I still don’t really understand what that game is
@@HappyPsychoBunny3 I don't think the people who made it do, either.
I think Yakuza is doing wacky stuff better because the player is free to do the wacky stuff whenever he wants, so it does not interrupt the story, but rather provide a good comic relief.
this definitely needs an abridged/highlights series
I have waited soo long for this. Thank you Joseph, have a great time.
11:27:12 is fucking hilarious
I'm honestly not completely sure why but 3:09:39 through 3:16:39 made me die of laughter holy crap
Could I ask for you to upload your couple minutes of narcolepsy experience talk from stream three (8:38:18 - 8:52:00) of this game as a separate video? I want to link it around cause I find it fascinating, but don't want to scare people away by giving them a 12 hour video.
You can clip it, and then just send people that.
@@MrGalaxypool Clips max out at 60 seconds my man. Sending someone 10 clips to watch would be even worse then sending a 12 hour video with a timestamp.
@@Poki3 If you have youtube-dl and ffmpeg installed you could do "ffmpeg -ss 31098 -to 31921 -i $(youtube-dl -g -f 22 "ua-cam.com/video/xfbKZDhG8Wc/v-deo.html") -c copy joeclip.mp4" to get that part.
Did a clip of it, youtube really doesn't seem to like links in comments so not going to try giving a direct link to it.
I love that chat says "HE KNOWS" whether Joe is right or wrong with his predictions, so that only the people who've played the game will know if chat is joking or not. Really adds to the experience without spoiling for first time viewers!
Chat is here! very poggers Mr. Anderson EZ Clap
When is he going to play the best visual novel on the DS, Ghost Trick.
Joe would die of laughter, BRING FORTH DEMOCRACY
@@evertime123 I think he would love it, there is almost no weeb elements to it and the mistery is actually compelling and well constructed.
I think he confirmed he's not streaming it because emulation and ios port apparently being broken af. I sure hope he finds time to play it on his own.
novel mode is actually really great because it really makes it impossible to miss details with how much it tells you the same thing
After finishing do you still think it was ooc?
In The puzzle from 3:20:00 - 3:40:00 they make a bomb to open the door instead of just water. But didnt water instantly turn into ice and freeze the doorknob? As such using the water on the door knob wouldnt have worked. I didnt think of it at all either, but some people in the comments were really advocating for the puzzle som i thought it over again.
Absolutely DIAMOND streams.
Thank you very much for putting the vod here :)
My body is ready. It might take more than one sitting, but I will feed the algorithm and watch this entire play through.
8:27:04 "Just slap him..." -Joe, talking about a blind person.
Oh bro I had no idea you were playing this, I love this game! Hope you enjoyed it, will watch this when I get some free time.

DAMN IT UA-cam! I was waiting for this for years. How many play throughs of this game do I need to see, how many Joseph Anderson videos do I need to see and repeat before your algorithm flags this as "relevant to my interests!?" A Month. It took me a month before I saw this in the side bar while watching "Ranking all 61 Stephen King novels in 19 minutes or less!!!!!"
this stream is how i discovered i was narcoleptic, lamayo.
I'm actually serious
Man, the game really stole your thunder on that whole Jumpy joke, huh...
I'd been waiting for him to play these games longer than I've been waiting for the Witcher video
8:43:00 wow thats absolutly terryfiying. i am happy to hear its better now
thank you a lot about talking about this i didnot even know something like this could even exist.
i think its really fascinating to hear that you only sleep 20 minutes at a time normally. but because of your narcilepty you instantly fall into REM sleep. so that should mean you get your "normal" amount of sleep each night?
2:31:37 the Temporal Ass Pain reference made me ascend thank you chat
Junpei shitted back to the start before he even escaped the first room using his shit ability lol
the thing joe described with going into remsleep instantly or even before going to sleep i sometimes had when i had to wake up very early to go to school (at like 5 because i had 1 hour 30 min commute) on the bus or during certain classes and i sometimes get it when i'm reading in bed at night but i don't think it happens when i purposefully go to sleep
Excellent streams
zero escape has been hilarious so far, just about 3h 40min, wonderful
also, you cant lie joe, you liked persona ;) (obv it had its moments tho)
Thanks for uploading Joe
