    Murray is dyanamic and the Cardinals offense is scoring points, but I'm not sold on it being sustainable throughout the season without some tweaks by Kingsbury.

    finally someone points out the weaknesses of this offense so far and not just leaving it at Murray is great. Very well done video.

      Looked pretty good to me. They just walloped the Rams on the road.

    There was always something that didn’t feel right about this offense ever since Kyler was drafted and I couldn’t seem to find the right words. You nailed it right on the head! Good shit.

    that is kinda pathetic that Kliff hasn't recognized how well structured roll outs would work for Kyler , something he should see as an NFL head coach.

    Cool to see where the disconnect is between Kingsbury and Murray. It'll be interesting to see if he can recognize this stuff and evolve in time for it to make a difference

    • @WeeklySpiral
      @WeeklySpiral  3 роки тому +3

      They're already a problem, but they're going to be tough to stop if things click and Murray can balance playing in structure while still being dynamic on the ground

    • @Finraen
      @Finraen 3 роки тому +3

      They need to design more plays that function like a scramble but instead put Murray on the move with an intent to pass by design. Murray then needs to continue to work on pocket presence and climbing the pocket so they can throw in the occasional slow developing plays that suit their receivers so well.

  • @kero2526

    I definitely agree with him misusing Hopkins. He says that Hopkins is used as a decoy on those plays where he's being doubled only on the left side but why not motion him in and have him run a slant once in a while. He's the best receiver in football. He can't be used as a decoy on that many plays. But I disagree about your take on Kyler playing in structure. He can't step up into the pocket like other QB's because he needs lanes to throw through. When he's given a clean pocket, 95% of the time he stays in, but if the pocket breaks down at all, he knows his ability that he can outrun any DE in the league and the receivers are already taught the scramble drill better than anyone so the risk/reward is better than stepping up in the pocket and having a batted pass, sack which could lead to injury or a throw that he can't even see the reciever

    • @WeeklySpiral
      @WeeklySpiral  3 роки тому +5

      I agree. He needs passing lanes and does great outside of the pocket. But as you said, he still needs to be able to see and when he can't, he escapes. That's exactly why I think both he and the offense would benefit from more designed rollouts and play-action to keep structure while still allowing him to get on the move and have the threat of taking off as well. They've done a great job with the scramble drill, but I don't think living off of it is the best way to run the offense.

      @@WeeklySpiral ideally your correct. Roll him out like Baker does with the browns. But I've watched this O-line every game since Kyler got drafted. They are above average pass blocking, bad run blockers and probably the worst blockers on the move. That's why Kliff stopped running screens after a few games in his first year and never ran them again. Plus Kyler has a spy on him a lot of the time so if he rolls out and the O-line doesn't pick it up. Again, it's risk of injury if he gets sacked by a 240 pound linebacker running a 4.40 at him. I'm personally ok with that aspect of relying on Kyler to make a play because he is one of the best athletes in the world but Kliff needs to do 10x better everywhere else if the cards are gonna win the SB. Maybe im wrong but that's just how I see it. For any other QB id agree with you but Kyler is a different story than any other QB in NFL history

    I think the most underrated point of this video is that Kliff runs a predictable offense. If he can disguise his sets better and with the pre snap motions like you said it would be a massive upgrade.. But Kliff has already made some great adjustments compared to last year, so I would say its looking up

    • @WeeklySpiral

      Really looking forward to seeing how he continues to work Rondale Moore into the offense and implement motion. A lot of potential there

    • @professorzoom7800

      yeah, i half agree with this 😂 kingsburys play calling drove me bananas at times last year, but it is getting MUCH better. As for the ridiculous amount of snaps hopkins took one on one, that was by design. Hopkins first year kingsbury wanted him to run the routes he was best at, and familiar with until him and kyler could build chemistry. which worked unbelievably well. great QB/WR tandems can sometimes not work out. Baker and Odell, megatron struggled with some shitty QBs but also just a revolving door of them and plenty other guys have in similar situations. But wether anyone thinks kingsburys philosophy was good or not is obviously up to them, but his thought process what i would rather have hopkins dominate on 50%-60% of the routes he’s comfortable with than have him be half as efficient with ALL the plays and routes kingsbury has. i agree it makes it easier to defend, but the plan was to expand his route tree slowly and in my opinion it’s worked really well. and as far as presnap motion, they could definitely do a better job. but one of the issues kingsbury had year one was FAR too many horizontal plays on bizarre downs and distances. so they kinda cleaned that up and although it’s more predictable, it’s also more predictable for kyler to read the defense as well. and with the amount of talent arizona has a receiver you don’t necessarily need to trick or over complicate the offense because you can be aggressive and beat most of the teams you line up with if you can execute the plays near perfect. obviously they still need to use motion for all sorts of reasons but the big one everyone knows is to help determine man or zone, and this year he seems to be learning because there’s sets with rondale more in the back field, aj green as the x receiver by himself, but hopefully they keep growing

    • @WeeklySpiral
      @WeeklySpiral  2 роки тому +1

      @@professorzoom7800 Agree with a lot of that. Kingsbury has made some nice strides from year one. Helps that he has the receivers to run the offense he wants, but he's diversified as well.

    Really great insights. Agree that a lot more refinement is needed to make the offense consistently good. Every time Arizona has been beaten in the past 2 yrs it definitely seems to have been a scheme/play calling problem and not due to talent mismatch or player performance. They are one of the most talented teams across the roster... maybe the most talented in the league. Sustainable and flexible scheme is what they need to go all the way.

    As a cards fan I 100 percent agree. Kings bury gets to predictable some times. And other times a little too cute when you just got to man up and have your guys win a play. Good stuff

    Here after the Rams, apparently Kliff watched your video. Rhythm, motions, throws from the pocket and up the middle, a backbreaking 50 yards run off a 4 wr set. By far his best game as a playcaller. That said, you bring up sensible points. I've been waiting for those bootleg rollouts since KM was drafted... last thing, Cardinals pass pro looks good on your video, and it was before they shut out Donald

      Kingsbury is continuing to adapt and the improvements on the OL have been huge I think. Getting Moore and Green was huge for them. Those four receiver sets now have dudes that can all win one-on-ones.

    They have too many weapons on offense to be shutdown and the off-script plays are always going to be a problem for any defense. It will take a great defense to limit Kyler Murray. Let's see how they do against the Rams in two weeks.

    From my point of view, the bad in Kingsbury's Offense I won't say it running like a well-oiled machine but it isn't far from it. I think it is fixable much like a flat tire, it sucks but it doesn't mean you have to revamp and get a new car. Moore adds an element that will help Kliff's scheme and make it more versatile. The presnap motion is critical to determine Zone or Man for Kyler. I think it was Tom Brady who said he can determine coverages when they motion. I hope they pick up tempo and the Rams, who typically had an answer for the cards, will be the true test. They are an exciting team fo sho!

    • @SchemeGuide
      @SchemeGuide 3 роки тому +1

      The Run And Shoot stopped running so much motion because defenses gave false man or Zone tells and it led to picks. It's a tool that can work but it's not something you can hang your hat on

    This is why you always upgrade the QB position, Bryce Young, & Matt Corrall are better fits, Overall Kyler Murray doesn’t have the skill set to become a franchise QB, then again if the Cardinals have another Late season collapse, him & Kingsbury will be out the door a lot sooner

    Murray plays like this because he’s shorter than most QBs. He’s an inch shorter than even RW3. He will naturally want to flee options in the pocket cuz he just can’t see. He will need to improve his running game because Wilson has always been one of the best QBs with ground game BECAUSE in part of his height.

    The offense not bad nor Kliff Kingsbury it’s the qb not using check down and scramble to much so instead of 3 and 5 ,6 it’s 3 and 10+
