Bobby, I agree, there use to be a stigma around the striped guitar…I was actually thinking of getting a Frankie and sanding the stripes off and refinishing it a solid color…but now I don’t have to…hell yea…great stuff as always my brother 👍
glad you liked the video, with a guitar like this you can wave the EVH gear flag with out the stripes, I hope the video was helpful- Thank you for watching
Beautiful guitar, perfect for the player that wants the VH sound. No stripes needed, it's about the sound and love the name "Relic" on it. I like the white 'Albino Frank'.
@@TheGuitarFretZone why don’t you want to have 2 single coils in your Frankie? I can understand a striped model but the newer model without stripes? Please answer!!!
Of course is worth. Same guitar as the stripped but without the responsibility that comes with the stripes. Perfect for those of us that do not want to disrespect the legend nor want to hear everybody on the crowd yelling Panama at you xD
I just played the striped one and the oiled neck is awesome. Is there a big difference between the oiled and satin lacquer necks? The striped is $400 more and if that is the only difference then I would rather have the solid colors. I wish they had these newer one at GC so I could compare.
I have a a striped Frankie and I have a white & black striped evh and I play them both alot and I think the neck on the striped frankie is a little bit better thank the black & white or the solid relic, but the solid relic neck is very nice, but if you got the solid relic and played it alot, I think it will get smoother over time, because the black&white neck now feels better than when I first bought it from playing it so much(the natural oils from will change it), I hope this helps
@@TheGuitarFretZone I just got a red myself. I got a trade in from GC for fairly low money. I am getting a setup on it. Excited to get some playing time with one of these to see if it can replace my Strandberg.
@@TheGuitarFretZone the setup came out excellent and now the d-tuna works and it stays in tune a lot better. I mean if your really whacking the tremolo it will need to be tuned after a few minutes of crazy dive-bombs but if your using it like a normal person seems to be fine. Loving it much better than Strandberg so far, love the feedback and sound from this guitar.
the tremelo is very stable, its the same trememlo is an EVH floyd, it stays in tune is very solid, if you like the guitar, you can find them used for a very good price
Have you ever tried a Stratocaster Ultra Luxe with Floyd? If so how does it compare to something like the EVH? I tried one recently but couldn't spend a lot of time and the neck of the Luxe felt much faster and was more comfortable but the sound of the EVH seems better.
I wished they made a clean gtr without the silly middle whole with the switch, and the dummy neck pickup… instead keep the neck, the Floyd rose and the humbuckers with the same position with a clean cavity and why not a cool single neck pickup
If these guitars are like the Frankie that I have then the neck pickup is a functional pickup, it's just not hooked up. There are videos that show you how to hook it up. The neck finish is different, the Frankie has oiled finish these have heavy relic laquer. You can always take out the stuff you don't like. It's just screwed in.
So I can't judge if that's a money grab. If the material and processing quality is right, there's nothing to complain about. It would be too expensive for me with these specifications and I have not had good experiences with "made in mexico". I don't really care about the finish as long as the guitar is O.K. It's important to me that it sounds good and that you don't need a new one after a year or two
Ok I have a super weird opinion on these. The striped Frankie relic is killer and I'd love one. But the solid color ones feel a little weird being EVH branded, like they're too "official" for the aesthetic they carry lol. All great though.
I think it’s a good alternative I love EVH but the stripped can be a little be over the top aesthetically if you want to gig it regularly. I love the specs but is nice to have something that you can make yours at some point.
@@TheGuitarFretZone is the quality any different? I played both and they felt almost the same. The neck is better on the striped one but the relic neck is still pretty good. Otherwise I am not noticing a difference.
its the same exact guitar, but no stripes, the neck is a bit smoother on the striped Frankie, but this neck is also very nice! The quality on this guitar is a 10!!!, It's a very solid guitar, I think a little to high in price, but is a custom shop quality
Is it really? I’ve got a DK 24 chlorine burst, with the roasted neck, and I actually rolled the frets my self, so the thing really feels amazing. Unbelievable guitar, would it be worth for me getting the Frankenstein?
Bob, that guitar is great. Some people want the playability of that guitar without having to fly the Van Halen flag at each gig. Good solo too.
Agreed 👍
Thankyou glad you liked it!!!!
I totally agree about the one solid colour.
Love the EVH guitars..

I think I’d enable the neck pickup too for added versatility.
I think there are some video's out there in how to connect the pick up, Thank you for checking out the video- Bobby
@@TheGuitarFretZone I’d also install a middle pickup - it’s already routed and I don’t see any reason not to AND lots of pluses including versatility.

How stable is the tuning over time on this guitar? Also, does it go out of tune when using the Floyd Rose trem when divebombing?
