Damn, I' am 52 years old and a hard core Van Halen fan from Queens NYC since 1980. That could've been the best imitation I have ever heard. How long did it take you to learn it? you look kind of young. I hear from other guitarists that the problem was it took awhile for guitarists to figure out his system. He has a way of method to the madness. Once you understand that, then its easier to imitate what he did. But nobody back in the 1970s not even the great Randy Rhoads who came from same place and time period ...knew WTF he was doing. lol great job, bravo! you brought tears to my eyes....
Brought tears to my eyes too. Remembering a the good times I had listening to VH and I build and play guitars too. I sure can't play these solos like this though. Long live King Edward's memory!!
Also from Queens here and with VH since mid 70s. I was there when they opened for Sabbath at Nassau Colliseum. Blew everyone's mind. Harold's playing is phenomenal. All of us who wanted to play like Eddie growing up quickly realized it was in the elusive tone. Getting that right was the most difficult part. I am more a fan of the tone on VH I and II. Thank you Harold for showcasing those albums.
To play that well is a massive act of respect to the man you honor. In his early days EVH didn't want people to copy him for all the right reasons. If there is a beyond and his spirit is aware I am sure he sees those that put in the effort to keep it all alive and smiles with love for those that honor him,. It is a celebration in performance!
Harold…..you’re a freakin monster!! You go from riff to riff FLAWLESSLY and you make it look effortless!! Gear gets you 10%….the rest, as Ed always said, is in your hands!
So true!! However, it is easier to play like him and sound like him when you have the right effects and amp. I had been trying to get his sound my whole life, and 3 years ago I finally got it. I use pretty much the same effects setup as this guy, but I have a Friedman BE100 amp instead of the Marshall, and I also have an MXR EQ pedal like Eddie used. It helps boost the treble and cut out some lows. Once I got his tone nailed, my playing went to a whole new level. It's easier to play like Eddie when you have the brown sound! R.I.P. Eddie!!
@goneflying140 uh couldn't disagree more with this comment. All of the best gear in the world is not going to make you play or sound as good as someone who has the chops and talent like someone like Harold.
this is an almost completely flawless representation of van halen’s sound. almost every single detail of the playing is here. you can close your eyes and think it’s him. Unbelievably impressive skills, i bet this took a literal eternity to practice. Bravo!!
Dude u killed it. You're the closest I've ever heard to the king himself. Love your playing and the sound is spot on. Thanks for blessing us with your gift
No sh!t! Harold Trucco!! You have got to be the "BEST" EVH guitar sounding impersonator out there!! I have watched tons of EVH impersonators and I can honestly say " You have got to be the BEST at it!" Absolutely AMAZING! You've captured Eddie's spirit, technique, style and sound. Some people get some of it right, BUT YOU have seemed to capture every little nuance and texture. AMAZING!
With the passing of Eddie I never understood why there wasn't a memorial concert featuring all the big name players who were influenced by Eddie. It seems his untimely passing was just a blip in time without any focus or tribute. Anyway excellent playing
I have one as well you are wrong about the neck pickup it’s not a dummy pickup It isn’t hocked up but it’s not a dummy. I had mine hocked up and put on a switch and the pickup rocks
@@heidimc5013 Wow! What a strange way to start a comment! I wouldn’t call him wrong. It seems like he definitely knows what he’s doing. I’m sure he is very aware that the neck pick up is simply not connected. Thus, simply referring to it as a dummy pick up. Since it is just for the look.
dude you nailed all the EVH lick nuances! i had a grin the whole entire time watching you ahmmer out these licks and tricks even some live without a net solo outtakes. now i want one, dang i should have bought one before the inflation went up.
Wow, your swing bit on I'm the one was one of the best I have ever heard. Great job on the tone and playing. Very brown sound and the effects were great. Your pick attack was great too!
I like how you’re using Eddie’s tremolo picking technique where your wrist is pretty radically bent and the rotation comes from the wrist and forearm. Hard to describe, but I think it results in a favorable angle of attack for the pick against the strings and sounds super clear. I call it “The Hummingbird “ because the movement reminds me of the vibrations a hummingbird makes in flight. Also, this whole video is fantastic. Liked and subbed.
EVH made the guitar look fun and sick as hell, like a kid fulfilling his crazy dreams on stage. And I think most importantly, you played in the same spirit.
Wow, man - really killed some EVH chops there. Especially loved that you nailed the "swing" in the I'm The One rhythm! Kudos, brother, and RIP King Edward. 🤘😎
Your playing and you making that gear sound like that? You are one of the few that gets within all the narrow parametres needed to achieve this. I salute you!
damn... you can really play.. i've been covering evh for decades.. you make me look like a novice.. i just finished building a fairly good frankie.. i'd put it up against the custom shops.. i wish i had documented the build.. it took about 2 years working on it off and on.. sourcing the parts.. etc.. searching for a 1971 quarter.. lol relicing and matching the stripes.... i wanted it to be good and faithful to his so i took my time and made it nice.. plays and sounds great.. now it hangs close by and i play it alot..
best Van Halen playing i've seen. Period. and i've been watching VH covers/videos since I picked up a guitar over 11 years ago. Respect - Eddie would be proud
DAYUM!!! I usually skip all of the filler and find where you would tell us the secret as per this video. Instead, I spent 1:40 with my jaw on the floor! That is the best rendition of Eruption that I've ever seen/heard other than by the man himself! OUTSTANDING JOB!!! Now back to the video. LOL
Saw Hendrix I. O. W. in 1970 and saw Eddie at Castle Donnington 80s...I'm still torn between these guys, both constantly fighting for control of my soul... So privileged to catch both of em. Thanks for your skilled renditions, good luck for the future friend, cheers.
i’m so impressed by your playing on hang em high. such an underrated and extremely hard riff to get right. And then you play the icecream man solo flawlessly. i’m floored!
I have to honestly say this guy and Steve Nowicki that works on the howard stern show, are by far the two best at nailing Edwards style and sound. Just incredible
Wow that’s such fantastic playing ❤️❤️❤️on a beast of a guitar .. I’m waiting on my evh frankie relic to arrive I can’t wait … you’re obviously a massive van halen/ Ed fan your suberb playing reflects that .. excellent review thanks for putting this up ❤️👍👍👍👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Incredible playing! I have the a Frankie from the first run. The neck on yours seems just right in the color range...mine was really grungy, dark and dirty. I cleaned it with fine sandpaper and a little bit of Naptha and it now appears more like Ed's original.
You did fantastic like 100% wow. The sadness for me when listening to the repertoire is realizing the extreme extent of his contribution to music. Not just for guitar. Sadness because he is gone. I honestly there will be another one. will come back often to hear your incredible work. On another note, I fell on the floor watching last night the latest Steve Vai video teeth of the Hydra hahahaha. Thanks!!!
Dude - killer playing! So glad people are keeping his legacy alive.
....and forever 🤘
One of the best demos of this guitar and some of the best VH playing I've ever seen!
My exact thoughts
OMG FUCK YEAH !!!
Almost like the legend himself is still here…
Agreed. Man he nailed eruption. The best I've heard next to Eddie. Wow.
Watch Jacob Deraps then
Unreal playing and absolutely nailed the brown sound
Brown Sound Is Big Brother Alex Snare ............
Literally brought a tear to my eye. Thank you bro. You brought Ed back to life for just a few minutes. Thanks.
This was some incredible playing
Me too.

You are the first person I've seen on the UA-cams who can tremolo pick like Eddie. And you nail that swing rhythm on I'M THE ONE...Well done!
The best EVH playing I have ever seen anyone do. It's great to see someone so young keeping Eddie's sound alive!
My man is even using Eddie's rather unique tremolo picking technique, that's dedication.
I noticed that right off the bat too.
That middle finger grip..
With that kind of playing, I wouldn't be surprised if Alex Van Halen invites you over for a jam session. That was very inspirational! Well done!

Blown away by the playing and tone on here, well done.
That unchained tone is incredible!
Awesome! Thanks for this. Will never get over losing EVH. To forget him would be as hard as forgetting my own childhood.
With the passing of Eddie I never understood why there wasn't a memorial concert featuring all the big name players who were influenced by Eddie. It seems his untimely passing was just a blip in time without any focus or tribute. Anyway excellent playing
COVID, and a lot of the tributes were done on UA-cam anyway.
I have one as well you are wrong about the neck pickup it’s not a dummy pickup It isn’t hocked up but it’s not a dummy. I had mine hocked up and put on a switch and the pickup rocks
Too hard to Imitate
Wow! Best I've heard besides #GOAT
@@heidimc5013 Wow! What a strange way to start a comment!

im 55 and eddie is one of my influences... BRAVO NOBODY YET IN MY EARS HAVE COME CLOSE TO WHAT I JUST HEARD ENUFF SAID !!!
You've got a helluva pair of hands, man. This was a joy to watch.
Wow, your swing bit on I'm the one was one of the best I have ever heard. Great job on the tone and playing. Very brown sound and the effects were great. Your pick attack was great too!

One of the best demos ever! Bravo, Harold! Great Stuff!
To think, Eddie was a F'ing KID when he played like that and created THAT sound. He WAS and IS a MUSICAL GENIUS.
OMG i clicked on it and i never expected it to be this freaking good. Im hearing The blistering sound of van halen.
Absolutely flawless! Just loved the playing. Cheers from Germany!
You are fantastic. That was impressive and great to listen to. Nailed it. Especially the tremolo picking. Very clean indeed
Nailed it! Tone, technique and chops... Bravo!
Best part of this was your I'm The One intro. That shuffle was dead on and the pulloff licks were clean and on time. Very nice.
I've never seen or heard such a presentation of EVH like that!!! Great job brother, Eddie is smiling down on you, he is proud I'm sure!!! 😁✌️🤘
This was absolutely phenomenal! Inspiring and awesome.
EVH made the guitar look fun and sick as hell, like a kid fulfilling his crazy dreams on stage. And I think most importantly, you played in the same spirit.
OMFG. Well done mate. Really well done. 100% spot on. Not 85% or even 97%, but 100%. Loved watching this. Really took me back in time. 🎸
Wow, man - really killed some EVH chops there. Especially loved that you nailed the "swing" in the I'm The One rhythm! Kudos, brother, and RIP King Edward. 🤘😎
wow! Seriously, probably the best versions of EVH rifts I have seen.. great job
One of the best videos out there honouring the memory of Eddie.
Excellent sound and playing!!
Cheers mate!!!
Goddammit this is the closest I ever heard someone sounding like Ed! Probs to you, I wish I could play like you!
Lots of people can “do” Eddie, but not many have that certain flair and you Sir and nailing it. Instant subscribe.
Your playing and you making that gear sound like that? You are one of the few that gets within all the narrow parametres needed to achieve this. I salute you!
Seriously could a just watched this dude go through Eddie's playlist. 🤯
I’ve watched hundreds of people play Eddie and nobody can do it like you,all the tricks he did you mastered Eddie perfectly
dude... I just opened UA-cam... you actually choked me up with how amazingly spot on you are to Eddie's playing and tone. Amazing man!!!!!
Awesome guitars!
Not only did you nail the tone, you got his trem picking down too!
Wow. This is the first time I see somebody acting with his fingers the same way as Eddie did. Great Performance.
WOW! Eddie would smile.
I came for the secret. I learnt that it is talent and application. Really great EVH style playing!
damn... you can really play.. i've been covering evh for decades.. you make me look like a novice.. i just finished building a fairly good frankie.. i'd put it up against the custom shops.. i wish i had documented the build.. it took about 2 years working on it off and on.. sourcing the parts.. etc.. searching for a 1971 quarter.. lol relicing and matching the stripes.... i wanted it to be good and faithful to his so i took my time and made it nice.. plays and sounds great.. now it hangs close by and i play it alot..
Very nice! Rock on Harold! :)
Great rundown on the Frankie! I've heard alot of people do Eruption. But this is the best I've heard outside of King Edward.
Now THAT'S a proper guitar demo and EVH at that! Thank You Very Much!
Absolutely outstanding
wow! Awesome. Thank you!
dude.... you have the most accurate EVH feel i have ever heard. Amazing stuff..
Excellent playing, demo, explanation and personality.
Also, respectful to Eddie
This dude could win a talent show.
best Van Halen playing i've seen. Period. and i've been watching VH covers/videos since I picked up a guitar over 11 years ago. Respect - Eddie would be proud
Somebody been a practicing!! Man, I got a grin watching this. This dude is sick!! Bravo sir, I say Bravo.
Tone is spot on and the best rendition of EVH playing I’ve ever heard bro. My local guitar center just got one in and I’m buying it this weekend.
LOL
I've never heard Eruption played so perfectly! Fantastic job...
By far the best. Never thought I’d hear some of these licks on a demo
If there’s ever a VH tribute concert you need to be a part of it. Great playing.
Holy SHIT. I'm used to people telling me I'm a vh freak, but you are the first person I've seen just...just fuckin wow man!
nicely done mate! very thoughtful playing.
Ohhh wow, what a beautiful video to watch to start the day, hearing you playing the Eddie's stuff in a great way!!! Thank you! Hi fron Italy
Amazing , came briefly, stayed for the duration. 👏👏
Excellent cover version. Congrats
That was absolutely unbelievable playing man!!!
He had the same sound using am Ibanez Destroyer. Thats what he recorded with, all the parts that didnt use tremelos.
Amazing playing and tone. Love it.
Absolutely killer playing. Some of the best Eddie covers I've heard. Maybe the best.
I have always admired people who can play , especially this good and better
i’m so impressed by your playing on hang em high. such an underrated and extremely hard riff to get right. And then you play the icecream man solo flawlessly. i’m floored!
Amazing tone and playing
Pretty rockin. Great playing too. I loved this demo. You looked like you were loving every moment of playing that guitar.
Perhaps the best cover of Eruption I have ever heard! Spot on.
Probably the only person I’ve seen nail the ain’t talkin intro correctly . Also your playing was amazing. Definitely made Eddie proud 🫡
So it's true, Eddie Van Halen is still alive🤟
Fan-Fn-tastic brotha 🤘🤘 great playing and ABSOLUTELY AMAZING TONE!!
I have to honestly say this guy and Steve Nowicki that works on the howard stern show, are by far the two best at nailing Edwards style and sound. Just incredible

Love how you kept the swing going throughout. IMO, it's the hardest part to do! Great playing!!
incredible playing, thanks for keeping the EVH flame alive!
Nailed the tone and feel. Great job
Wow. Just wow. 🤘

Glad you told us about the frictionless volume knob, I love cathedral
great sound and great playing thank you for the vid
Absolutely brilliant!!! Thank you
You do got it going on. You are one of the best at sounding like Edward. Good stuff mate 🔥🔥🔥.
Wow! Pretty darn close on most of it.
You hit the nail perfect
Best cover I've heard
