  • The Omega Seamaster Professional 300! A watch I cannot believe I have never talked about on my channel! A classic, a dive watch STAPLE! But for some reason the modern SMPs just don't speak to me. But this one. This little early 2000's legend remedies all of the problems and faults I have with the Seamaster.
The 2254.50 is hands down my favourite era of Seamasters - the sword hands, wave dial, thick chunky lume plots, aluminium bezel, and the more Speedmaster style bracelet. I would love to see Omega's modern day take on this one. Perhaps one that looks exactly like this but the with co-axial movement upgrade?
Anyways, this video is basically just me gushing over this watch. What do you think to the Seamaster? Tell me everything in those comments down below. :)

You should get hands on with one if you can, the same great case design (which I think is incredibly under-rated, easily as good as my OP), just proportionally shrunk.

@@BrittPearceWatches yeah, it was a reward to myself, for a getting hired at a new company, doubling my income, plus a hiring bonus. I was actually in the process of getting a sub, when I saw the Omega Seamaster. I actually didn’t know much about Omega. Went with the Omega, since it was a 1/3 the sub’s price. Sub was 6k back then. I eventually bought a sub years later.

Hi Britt, I have the 36mm quartz version of this Omega Seamaster that I purchased from my brother. It's become my favorite and most worn watch. It's very accurate, stylish and comfortable. I too am drawn to the older more vintage style pieces from Omega. Thanks for this really cool video on a great watch from Omega.

This was my engagement present from my wife in 2009. I still have it, it's in AMAZING condition and keeps excellent time. It's the only watch of this caliber I own and in being honest, am ever likely to own which as well as the occassion, makes it that much more special!! I have NO intention of selling it and I had no idea that there was this much love for this model as compared to others 2nd hand, it appears to be a lot cheaper? I just love the almost tune it plays as that sweeping hand goes by!!! Thank you for gushing so much about the best watch I'll ever own!! Kudos from the UK!!

I've had my eyes on this watch for some time, thank you for making a video highlighting how awesome this watch is! If I purchase this watch, I would put a modern rubber strap from the current Seamaster 300M. Metal bracelets just don't work for true outdoor use.

I’ve been a fan of the Seamaster since Brosnan wore it in Goldeneye in ‘95. The wave dial, tread band and hands were all I ever wanted.
27 years later I got one. We’ll worth the wait.
This model has a great combo of that ‘95 version with a Rolex band (not a fan of it).
The NATO bands might work well with this one and I’d be inclined to fit one on just to see.

The lume omg those sword hands are like two lightsabers… if really want a submariner but can’t wrap your head around the astronomical pricing, this is the watch for you. Truly the best budget diver & already well on its way to being a future classic. Also makes a great one & done because it has such a low profile, easily dressing up or down. Hi there! I still wear this Omega every single day, and it’s held up brilliantly. The steel is way more robust than my old 16610 and 116610 Rolex Submariners if you can believe that. I was always shocked at just how soft Rolex’s “proprietary” steel actually is… The slightest bang on anything and it chipped, dented, or SCRATCHED! The Omega can literally bang on anything, and come out unscathed. I think this has been the most shocking realization for me personally - but shocking in the best of ways. The Seamaster keeps time just as well as the Submariner (or any watch for that matter) and I just can’t find any faults with the watch. The design is timeless, the steel is more than robust, and most importantly - it costs 1/4 of the price of a Sub! What an amazing value proposition!

@jamesestrada82 great to know that you're really loving it.
I'm also a huge fan of this particular model - all I need now is money lol. Omega somehow scored big time with this one, and I'd be happy to settle even with the 36mm version - be it quartz or automatic. It just looks so good.
I see these now getting even more expensive, which I never saw coming.

Its so good to see that this model gets some attention. Yes, it was also my first proper watch. Version 2255.80 actually. I remember that i had a question for months in my head... this or Speedmaster.... Sapphire glass was the reason why i decided to go for thisone. Back then hesalite was not popular at all. But at that time there was no "influence" from anybody (specially from internet) and so, the choice you made was clean and purely based in your own taste. Which is a good thing.
I bought it 2004 from Geneva (it was ca 1400€ without Swiss VAT) and runs until today (18 years!!!) w/o any issues. Had actually 0 service.... watchmaker has opened it twice during that 18 years... looked at it and said.... there is nothing to do... all so clean and well...
I will never sell it. My son or daughter (its a difficult choice!) gets this one on one day!

So many people $h!t on this watch over the Rolex. I went to the store to buy a Breitling Aerospace and was going to get the co-pilot strap. I saw it in a magazine on my way to Las Vegas and loved the look. Got to the store, saw the unfinished bezel and 38-39mm size of the Breitling and didn't like it.
Went for a stroll through the mall and stopped at an Omega dealer. Looked at a Bond, which was too busy for me. Then I tried on an electric blue 2255.80 and left with it 5 minutes later. Only after the next two weeks of watching the sweep and touching the smooth satin finish and having the watch wear so easily, did I realize what I bought. The watch was amazing. So accurate. You put it on and it melts into your wrist adn you don't even notice it is there until you glance down at your wrist artwork.
I later would acquire a 2254.50. The difference in between that and the electric blue I have iis the bezel. The shiny bezel on the electric blue makes the watch a bit more flashy, but because the color of the dial doesn't continue on the bezel like a 2254.50 the watch looks smaller. The 2254.50 was bought used and someone had satin finished the bracelet. I disassembled the watch and restored the bracelet. Re polished and re satin finished the proper spots on the case. Cleaned all the not-my-dna from beneath the bezel and had the movement serviced.
I have a 2500 C coaxial PO XL and a 2500 De Ville. They will run a bit longer and are more accurate towards the end of the spring's energy storage. The PO XL is huge. For wearing a dress shirt, the Seamaster 300m works great. The Deville does too and one of my other favorites is the Speedmaster (sometimes I think because I don't have to set the date).
So far I have not serviced my 2007 2255.80. I have a timegrapher and it runs like a champ in all positions. Dial up is 0.0 seconds a day deviation and I have fallen and smashed the watch into a wall on my way down. Very underrated watch.

Completely agree with your opinion Brittany!
It even gives a 16610 (which I have also owned several times) a run for it’s money.
Apart from it’s stunning semi-vintage looks, I find it also by far the most comfortable Seamaster to wear.
And couldn’t care less about the movement not being inhouse, which gives it it’s slimness.

  • @h111551
    @h111551 2 роки тому +5

I think that you have nailed the downside of Omega’s efforts to produce new iterations of the Seamaster: when near perfection is achieved, almost every change represents a step backward. I have owned a stainless steel Ploprof 1200M with a shark mesh bracelet and saw how new color ways and materials undermined the Ploprof 600M heritage. I recently thought about buying a Nekton and came close to pulling the trigger but I just could not accept the lack of subtlety of the laser cut wave pattern dial which permeates the current Seamaster range. Even before your video, I had accommodated to the idea of looking for an older Seamaster more commensurate with the Seamaster aesthetic that I like best. Omega has had great success with the laser cut wave dials but I like the plainer black dials or the older more subtle pre-laser cut wave dials. Modern recreations of the classic Seamasters of the past would indeed be well received but there is such a plenitude of older Seamasters that one might as well buy an original reference.

Mine wears really well but the bracelet just isn’t great. Bulky, doesn’t taper, and in my gen, no easy link/glide/ quick adjust. Also over 5 ish years a small part of the AR coating has worn off. It’s thinner than the new iterations which I really like.

So, I'm a Canadian who's lived in Australia, the Middle East & Asia for decades, you should hear my accent..lol. By the way, this Omega is my favorite watch. My collection has a bunch of interesting watches, almost all diver, aviation or space watches, and I just can't get over how perfect this Omega is. You can see the hands in any kind of light, the case is thin, the look is classic, the bracelet is classy and you can wear it with anything, even a suit.

This was the first "luxury" watch I ever bought. I was around 21 and I'd always been obsessed with Omega. I got my first proper job and within a few months, I was at Goldsmiths enquiring about the Seamaster. The sales rep was an experienced rep; he must have understood it was my very first time buying a watch and he brought this model out, and explained to me that it was the best priced automatic Omega (at that time, it was £1,300). I bought it, and must have had the watch only a few years until I sold it on eBay due to money issues. I wish I hadn't, and to this day, I've always regretted selling it. I've been thinking about buying this model again, preowned, but I fear it won't feel the same. Nothing ever feels the same as your first.

These are very nice and I knew a few guys who got them in and around 200-2003 (I am boat captain - mechanic & these were "on the docks" along with Submariners of course.). I wear my 1990 16610 (bought new in 1990 before "real" expensive.) But I also had for a time the titanium version of this - but sold it on. I also liked the blue dial version with the skeleton hands. Basic but good 2892 in there. And not too Thick ! which is a plus. (For me though the "escape valve" is still a sticking point)

I have the titanium version with the petrol blue dial and a limited edition James Bind Collector’s Piece, but my personal wear watch is the 50th Anniversary GMT that has two things I really like:
    1) GMT function
    2) No HE escape valve
I consider the valve a needless affectation because both Breitling and Rolex have valves flush with the case.
I really like these watches as they’re different in their own way from just about every other dive watch range, but I not-so-lovingly call the escape a ‘goiter’ sticking out at 10 o’clock on the case.

True. If they had only refined this watch (but it did need refining) - toned down the 12, applied the batons, junked the bracelet... They were so close to a better Sub. The Seamaster needs Speedmastering! The current SMP is too sweet - a candied, fluffy confection! All the design cues present on this watch, but maximised to the max! Then they pained it blue, threw in silly skeleton hands, made it bigger, applied round markers, and a display caseback... But hey, the more they bling it, the more they buy it...

Nice review Britt. Loving your zest and enthusiasm! First time I've seen your channel actually and subscribed :-) Good shout on this model. Can't much disagree. The '93 300M was pretty much the first proper luxury watch I ever owned. Over a hundred high-end pieces later, I had a mass 80% sell-off including just about every big name you can think off. And yet my only real regret was the Omega Seamaster. Go figure. I later fixed this bone-headed move by buying a 2012 version last year. Love the deep blue and glossy dial. The latest version while no doubt a great piece is just that but too big and just that but too blingy (the blue sure is 'bright' in person) to carry a suit. And for me, the wave pattern too unsubtle. Whichever way, the Seamaster is a true horological classic...

Great video as always! I bought one of this (36mm, steel with white gold bezel) as a Christmas gift to myself in 2021, unfortunately the watch had problems with water infiltrations from the helium valve that have damaged the dial and I had to return it. What a pity, the mid-size Seamaster is the only mid-size Omega which have a screw down crown, ready to be worn in any condition. Why this discrimination against small wrists, my dear Omega? Such a shame

Once again I enjoyed your video. That helium Escape valve it's a distinction from any other watch then an Omega. From a distance you can automatically see that it's an Omega. No doubt about it. It can be a blessing or a curse. However, it is an icon nonetheless.

Being 1 of the lead advocates of the Blake -era SMP's on WUS, I ❤️ that a modern YT'r made a video on this absolute gem of a series.
Blue, black, white, GMT, quartz, HAQ, SS, Ti 41mm, 36mm...you can find or mod 1 to fit almost any preference. Mods are numerous, my favorite being bezel insert swaps and modern SMP toolless adjustable clasps.
The best IMO, the Ti 2231.50. 41mm presence but with a lightness that feels 36mm. Mine has the black bezel and 6 position SMP clasp for what I consider my best daily in a decent sized collection.
    Thanks for making this vid!

Hi Britt, I totally agree that the 2254.5 is the best Seamaster of all time. I have the 2255.80 which is the same and but for a shiny ss bezel and the most beautiful electric blue dial of all time. I also was lucky enough to have the 1994 2531 Bond watch but sold it and kept the 2255.80 for all the reasons you mentioned in the video. They are soooo classy compared to the 2018 sm. Thanks for your good taste young lady and good day.

This makes me think about my SMP Chronograph ref 2599.80. It was my first real luxury watch. A really great all-round piece, which ended up being just a little too thick for my liking. I sold it a couple years back. But now I really want to bring back a SMP into the collection. Especially the 2232.80 caught my eye.

I have been thinking about buying because I love this version of the Seamaster but don’t like watches bigger than 40mm. I have a 6 3/4” wrist and I prefer 34mm to 38mm size watches.
