Great Review! I have the exact same watch and love it. All of the characteristics that make the fullsize clumsy and awkward make the midsize perfect… mainly the chunky bracelet and long end links. At 18mm and untapered they’re perfect. It is a criminally underrated Omega, but enthusiasts are starting to take notice as smaller divers gain popularity. I have 6.75” wrists and this midsize SMP and a 36mm Exp1 (124270) are the foundations of my collection.
@@malikknows3510 They each have their pluses and minuses. The Midsize SMP is the better bang for your buck… but prices are rising. The build quality and accuracy are every bit modern Omega. The size makes it a very versatile option and it looks great on a leather strap. IMO it wears slightly larger than the 36.25mm advertised size plus it's a fairly heavy watch for its size. The lack of bracelet adjustment is the only drawback in my eyes. I’m lucky to find a perfect fit removing links, but I do wish there was micro adjust for summer heat. The SMP hides scratches better than the Exp1. The Exp1 (124270) is more than double the price at retail and a bit more on the grey market. It wears true to size and is lighter. Its build quality slightly edges out the SMP - less bracelet rattle than the SMP being the discernible difference. The micro adjust in the clasp and Easy Link are the winners here. I use the EZ link daily in the warm months. The SMP was my first ‘real’ watch purchase and it was meticulously researched. I wore it for 2 years straight before I started building a collection. They both get looks and comments from enthusiasts, but the SMP gets more attention and lots of questions from watch nerds. Everyone knows the Seamaster but hardly anyone knows about the midsize versions. (Side note - both watches are virtually invisible to the non-enthusiast general public) They are both great options and forever pieces in my collection. The SMP is a true workhorse. The Exp1 is a grail achieved. My recommendation is to start with the Midsize SMP because it is the clear value proposition. Ignoring brand reputation and prestige, micro adjustment in the bracelet isn't worth double the price tag.
7:55 Unfortunately, not any watchmaker can service this due to it being Co-Axial (even though it's based on the 2892, there is substantial change in architecture and parts). I'd only send this baby to Omega for servicing.
Quite a rare piece - I bought my fiance a midside 300m in blue for her birthday a few years ago - we now have matching his and hers. Beautiful piece! Thanks for the review.
Yep, the lug to lug is the deciding factor for me because I have a 6.25 in. wrist. I fing 44mm lug to lug is the best fit for me. That is why I own Seiko's 😂
Thanks for this review. I compared against the 41 and stuck with this one for my 6.75 wrist. It’s both comfortable, understated, tank built and elegant. I also compared it against a bb54. Tudor does a better job of not robbing the dial with the bezel (the dial is more inset on the seamaster) but they are similarly sized from a wearability standpoint so I’ll take the seamaster all day. Agreed that more people should look at these in the near future. I’m wondering how you feel about the size of your speedmaster now because that will be my next purchase.
Nice video! I recently pulled the trigger on a 2262.50, same size and similar features. Can't wait to receive it! The only difference is that mine is Quartz but might be easier to maintain in the long run. Cheers!
Nicest seamaster in regard to size Omega makes now is the 39.5mm planet ocean. Perfect size as it is actually a 40.5mm which is the exact same size as the Sub.
Perfect size of us dudes of smaller build. My wrist is 6.3inches , father gave me a full sized 50th anniversary gmt seamster from 98 and it's a 🍽️ on me lol 😂 this is definitely on my wishlist.
I have the model that immediately preceded this (coaxial movement, but no ceramic bezel and still has the wave dial) and I love the feel of the midsize, but I think the extra gloss of yours plus that new bracelet really make it an ideal "dress diver". I wanna put mine head to head with a Black Bay 54 one day, and see if it's worth upgrading.
The size is perfect. However, doesn't the lack of micro adjustment in the bracelet bother you? I heard that the clasp can be upgraded to a new omega glide clock clasp, but im not sure.
I own the large, wife has the mid, electric blue dial, 2 beauty travel watches, the choice of Princess Di as a gift to her boy and currently worn by Prince William
What you said about the bezel not being easy to tuen compared to coin edged, is because you're doing it incorrectly. You're supposed to grip it from the front, not from the sides. This is so it's easy to use the timing bezel while wearing diving gloves
Miss this watch. One of the best watches out there, ever.
the way you compare sizes together is excellent 👏
I really appreciate that. I try to do my best. I hope you stick around. I have some more videos coming out shortly!

Whats an good price for the blue one without papers?
I have the same thoughts regarding the 18mm bracelet. No taper at 18mm actually looks good!
Very interesting. I'm considering this watch or the Exp1. Which do you prefer? Thanks in advance.

@@malikknows3510 sold my exp 1 got the peter blake 36mm and kept the change
I have the exact same model with black dial and ceramic bezel. It is SO comfortable. It’s a keeper for me.
I miss it! Congrats!

Very cool! Thanks for watching.
Hoe much did it cost new back in the days?
@@legobioniclemocmaker4553 I can’t remember how much the 36mm cost, but they were in the low 4k for the full size
My wife and I, the same!!!
Perfect review. My previous SMP was a 41 mm and I found it way too big. Today I bought this specific SMP model on C24.
Right on! I hope you enjoy your new SMP. Thanks for watching the video. I hope you stick around.
Lovely combo of the 300M and the Tudor! Nice taste in watches.
Thank you!
Thank you. Today this competes with the Back Bay 54. Would love to see a comparison of those two.
Me too! I’d love to get my hands on one.

No arguments there

Thank you! Might try to pick up one of these. Any idea what the accuracy is like for a watch that’s six years old?
By then it needs a service, but may still be running well. Consider that in your price since most service cost $2-300.

Hi! Great video, thanks for posting. If you still have the watch, do you know the width of the dial?? Thank you!

Haha. I feel you. Thankfully I think the trend is sizing down. I hope Omega will get the point we all want a slightly more refined Seamaster size.
Fingers crossed mate! 36mm is the gold standard for a sophisticated look without it looking beefcake.

I used to have the same version you have in 41mm. I miss it.
could this be paired with the titanium strap
The size is perfect. However, doesn't the lack of micro adjustment in the bracelet bother you? I heard that the clasp can be upgraded to a new omega glide clock clasp, but im not sure.
I’ve heard that people buy the PO clasp for both this version and the 41mm. It can be done.
Is this better than planet ocean 600 39.5. Smallish wrist here.
Late to this. PO is super thick. I think the Seamaster is a better all around watch. This midsize version is small, so prepare yourself.
It’s discontinued?? It’s still advertised on the Omega Site.
Omega keeps their discontinued models on the site, but these were replaced with the latest model in 2018.
So no more 36mm watches?
Yeah if they made a 36mm version of the modern iteration of the SMP , I'd throw my money at the boutique door.
Is this still available at a botique? This looks great
Nope, these are vintage now
Sorry if I missed it but does this model have quick adjust bracelet like the 42mm?
No. It doesn’t. You can upgrade the bezel to get it.
I own the large, wife has the mid, electric blue dial, 2 beauty travel watches, the choice of Princess Di as a gift to her boy and currently worn by Prince William
No, Diana never wore an Omega. She bought William a midsize in the 90s. Not ceramic and not coaxial.
@@IrishScribbler bro, never said it was anything but the midsize quartz but my sources were wrong and indeed it was a gift, not hers she wore
42 inches across the bezel is too big for my wrist
Haha. Whoops 😬
You sometimes see the mid-sized Seamaster called the “boys” 😂
A lot of the Asian listings mark it that way, I’ve noticed.
Discontinued
