- Опубліковано 25 лип 2023
- This is about trying the P2 engraving on curved and irregular surfaces. Amazing how easy it is to map and engrave surfaces that need constant focus adjustment. Nothing else like it available now and after the recent firmware update zero issues.

The flower on the pot showed up a lot better in the video. Over the last couple of months I have given away or sold over 30 laser engraved pots. It is a fun item to engrave. Ed, I love the swear jar. I am going to midnight requisition that idea.
Good thing you engraved the big rock before your cataract surgery or your swear jar wouldn't have been big enough.(not to mention blowing your eyeballs out)
That clay comes out great if I don’t break the surface. For some reason adjusting the grey scale works best. I need it to calm me down during the evening news. looking for a gallon round jar to try with the rotary next video. Ordered some plastic canning jar lids to try cutting the slot in. Says they are polypropylene and not sure how thay will cut. That last firmware update really nailed down the surface mapping. Really easy and reliable now but slow engraving. Thanks for watching.
Great ideas especially the flower pot
That idea made my wife happy. She wants me to customize her orchid pots. Thanks for watching.
Ed I just wanted to say that your channel is one of the few that I always hit the like button before I even watch the video. Your videos are always top notch and provide a great deal of information. I always enjoy your content.
Thanks, most viewers only watch the first minute. I always try to show exactly what can be expected wnen you spend good money on an item. It's definitely fun to have the chance to play with new technology like this that may or may not fit an individuals needs once they see it work. Thanks for watching.
Very cool that the system has the ability to map changing depths of the target material. Very nice results on the rocks, jar and pots!
it is the best feature of this laser. Gives undistorted artwork on tapered surfaces without a rotary. Also very easy to setup and has worked flawlessly since the last firmware update. Only drawback is the engraving is slower using this feature. Something no one else in this price range has offered before and I bet others soon follow. Thanks for watching.
Hi 👋 UHRC. I hope you are all keeping safe and well, I was very impressed with your work, it looks quite complicated, never been much good with computers, I think I’ll stick with making pieces of art out of wood, I can get my head round making a chair, furniture, doors, and windows.
My biggest problem, I cannot read properly , so it makes it difficult for me to understand things, especially when it comes to computers.
That was a great territorial, very enjoyable , Stay safe, Phil from the moulin France.
Thanks. It really is easy with no instructions. Just have to do what the software says to. They did a great job making the software user-friendly. I have been using computers since my Commodore 64 days and so far windows 11 is the most user friendly. Wood is my favorite to build with also. Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 , HI 👋 I will have a look at some more info about it, and if buy one , I will have to make sure that I can sell products , and recuperate the money, to pay for it self, Thank you for your uploading on your garden 🪴 and work shop 🏬 adventure,
Phil from the moulin France.
This is an expensive to start with that could take a long time to pay back. Best starting with a low cost diode laser to see if there is a market for lasered items in your area.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 yes that sounds a good idea, I am waiting for my founds to be released to me from my divorce separation deal,
And won’t have a lot of fun’s and available , my first priority is to try and get my roof repaired as I am still suffering from storm damage from September October of last year, from what I can gather my insurance is not high enough to cover for the entire cost of replacing the roof, because my roof is made of asbestos slates, they have got to be removed by a specialist, and I’ve got to pay approximately €7000 towards it, which, at the moment I do not have, and make things worse. My ex female partner has managed to stop me from having the repairs from being done,
Until the property is in my name, then I require a ride on lawnmower, as mine was stolen back 2019,
I am going to register myself as a small business artisan, and hopefully I will have little bit of money, coming in ,
Thank you for your advice, Stay safe, Phil from the moulin France.
Ed, your granddaughter is going to have a ball looking for her custom fossil rocks at the beach! That was a great idea. Nice video of the mapping feature to engrave varying surfaces. A side note, some of us might need a bigger jar for the "swear jar"....
She loves painting them so we will see. I can fill that jar in one night of watching the news. looking for a gallon jar for the next video 😯. Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Ha-Ha! That's why I have to limit my news time as well!
VERY cool and unique. I'm sure you're inside in mid-day with this brutal heat. You didn't waste any time branching out to some new creativity. You are both left-brain engineer and right-brain artist. Beautiful. (Except for the creepy Chimp face. Lol!)
Thanks, it's fun to try to imitate mother nature. Definitely had some nasty heat and humidity the last couple weeks. Darn bugs are hungry also. I'm just an old timer having fun trying new technology. Remember the Indiana Jones videos where creepy chimps always protect the treasure 😳. Hope your garden is doing great. Mine is a jungle but still waiting for the first tomato sandwich 🍅. I can't eat another zucchini. Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Me too. I check the tomatoes twice a day looking for a nice red slicer for that first divine tomato sandwich w/ home-made mayo! Seems to be late this year.
A skunk ate my first one the night before I was going to pick it. I think the smoke cover slowed everything down.
As a rock hound I'm glad to see how great the P2 works on rocks! Do you have a power/speed/lines per cm range you find yourself working with or does it vary so widely from rock to rock that it's futile to recommend a starting point?
I started with the Xtool settings for slate coasters. For deeper engraving 2 passes or slow the speed down. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Thanks for that. If you included it somewhere in the video I apologize if I missed it. I did learn a lot from your video production and I'm excited to try this out on some special rocks!
Hi Ed. I'd have to take out a 2nd mortgage if I implemented a swear jar (55 gal drum) with the current "news climate". Another great video.
I'm looking for an old gallon pickle jar to engrave now 😯. Think the news is turning me into a grumpy old man. Time to crawl under a rock and hide until its over. Thanks for watching.
That is really impressive! I can’t let my wife see this one! 😁🛫
It's a whole new class of machine. My wife wants some of her orchid pots customized. Thanks for watching.
Hi, Thank you for a great video! This really helped me get started on using my brand new P2. I Did run into an issue trying to engrave round things like candle jars or glass bottles as they were too tall even laying down and with a slates removed. I was wondering how you get yours to fit? Especially the flower pot And the mason jar?
The main reason I bought this machine to engrave my handmade candles, so it would be a bummer if I couldn’t do that.
Did you buy that raiser that you can purchase for this machine?
Thank you very much and I really enjoyed your video!
Yes you need to buy the riser base for taller items or to use the rotary assembly. For round objects like glasses and bottles a rotary axis gives the best results. Thanks for watching.
With the lacquer on there do you think you could at color with a water based stain/
Probably could or it would be easy to add a mask before engraving. I will have to try that. Thanks for watching.
Trust all is well after your surgery!! Trust we did not send to much SMOKE to rest your Eyes!!
Thanks. It's scheduled for Tuesday but I'm getting a little worried because I just caught a summer cold. Hopefully it is over by Monday. We had a couple smokey days yesterday and today that seem to be comming from western Canada now. Bad year for fires everywhere. Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Let's hope that all will be well with your surgery!!? Across Canada we lost 5 young people who were fighting these terrible fires! an 18 year old who perished when a tree came crashing down while fire fighting. Also a Native Canadian fire fighting Pilot whose helicopter went down and he perished in a region that had very few people to protect? It is heart breaking to hear that people perished to protect an area that has Zero wealth in Property but they tried their best to help!!!! Again I hope you and your young Lady are well? Take care!!
Hello what type of Lacquer do you use ?
I just use whatever brand I find at my dollar store. I think depending on where you live will determine what's available because most is high VOC. Thanks for watching.
how deep can you carve? (on rocks)
I don’t know as each type of rock is different. You would need several passes to go deep so the heat doesn't split them. Thanks for watching.
I think 2-1/2 hours for that large rock is reasonable. It takes me that to print 2 poop bag holders for my dogs leash. Lol
If it was flat would take less then 15 minutes. Wound up being a late night. I am looking at a new Bambulab 3d printer but trying to sell the old ones and a couple other things to pay for it first. Poop bag holders 😬, what's wrong with pockets like I use 😉. Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 these hold the used poop bags with poop in them. LoL
😳
