3 part exploration of more than you ever wanted to know about AW11 MR2 C pillar trim and rear visor problems and solutions.
In this first part I blather about why these parts fail and what options for repair or replacement exist, I demonstrate trim removal, and start installation of the Twos R Us reproduction kit.
If you don't feel like watching the near 60 minute series (and I don't blame you) here are the main takeaways:
Damage occurs due to age and stupidity. Brittle plastic, seized threads, leaning on the trim (me), over torqueing (me), and neglect.
Twos R Us Reproduction Trim Sets are a great solution to discolored, severely damaged, or missing pieces, but share some inherent weakness of the original design.
Trim Saver Tabs are a great solution to broken inserts, stronger than original, and not a bad preemptive measure.
ABS cement is an effective adhesive for repair and reinforcement of these ABS plastic pieces. (My comments on camera notwithstanding, there are also epoxies and JB Weld products engineered for ABS plastic.)
-Expand mounting holes with a file if threading the shoulder screws is challenging. Do not expand the second to top hole. Expand by maybe a millimeter at both ends of the holes, aligned lengthwise with the trim piece. (Sorry no closeup detailing this.)
I demonstrate on my 20 valve blue 1987 MR2 and a 1986 MR2 project car.
I this project took place intermittently over several months in late 2021, then the editing project was abandon until I saw related suffering described in various online forums. I hope this saves some people some struggles, and sorry it's so long.

I have not seen the Trim Saver Tab available on eBay for several months and have no information beyond the eBay seller and his UA-cam channel. I encourage the seller continues to produce these tabs as they are my recommended solution to many common scenarios. The Trim Saver Tab instruction video is very informative and I refer you to it rather than reproducing it's content.

I've got 3 of those upper visors (2 with Toyota on still)... my spare I actually removed the "toyota" from and sprayed it with tinting spray (both sides), dark, so it really suits my dark blue super charger now (imo), but also retains that side profile shape which I prefer with the visor on (without it the rear looks a little boxy around the rear window). Just an idea for those with spares (don't do it if you only have one as they are getting rarer!) but to me it modernises it a bit and looks OEM if sprayed well and doesn't scream 'TOYOTA' all over the rear window (this is a sympathetic cosmetic mod I'm not a ricer just to clarify - it was just one way of taking a bit of that 'busy' look away from the visor and works well for me)
Also got 3 x cpillar trims from my 2 ex Mr2s + current. You can still get the black UPPPER part brand new (with brand new bolts (no nuts) that the visor tabs sit on + has new rubber trim fitted as from factory) from japan for just $30 ;) I bought 2, proper OEM toyota parts. You can't get the C-Pillar trim of course.

Hello, I found your video very helpful, I just got my mr2 and I replaced my c pillar trim, I'm now trying to install my windshield trim, any suggestions?
Sorry I have no experience with the windshield trim. I thing the Toyota repair manual details glass repair though. You can find PDF of you search around some of the old MR2 community sites.
