- Genesis does what Nintendon't? More like Genesis DOES what NintenDO! In this retrospective, we'll be taking a look at the Super Mario games for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. These games are bootleg Mario games meaning they are fake. We'll be taking a look at Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. 2 1998, Mario 3: Around The World, and Mario 4: A Space Odyssey! I'll be covering Kirby And The Forgotten Land for the Nintendo Switch this weekend, as Kirby's Dream Buffet just released. Hopefully the next Nintendo Direct is soon.

For the first bootleg just replace Mario with Wario and you'll have a somewhat more acceptable Wario Land bootleg game.

Well to be fair, the presentation in the game was going to be excellent nonetheless because they actually put effort into it.
I'm guessing with that pig boss somebody said "I'll play Mario on Sega when pigs fly" and the devs ran with it.

There's a new version of Mega Drive (Genesis) in Brazil, it's Sonic themed with wireless controller, it's said to have internal games like a some kinda of emulator, can't say if it's really official due all the work to make it look good, but never bothered to see someone playing it tho

Reminds me of those Atgames officially licensed SEGA Genesis consoles that have some pretty good Genesis games but also some bootleg crap on them that also have wireless controllers

It’s quite odd that Nintendo never expands more upon some of their Mario games. Not every game HAS to have a desert area that looks almost
the same as the other games, or has to have one at all. Not every Mario Kart or Mario Party has to have the core cast only, but MK8/MK8 deluxe did add none Mario characters too, I just wish they would add some Mario
Spin off characters too like Fawful or Mona and Ashley from WarioWare, or anyone from WarioWare really. Not even something like a Dark Bowser skin is added either, it can be sooo bland sometimes. I don’t know how some bootleg copies of these games manage to sometimes outshine the main one in some aspects, it’s mind boggling.

Mario Bootlegs are some of the most interesting Genesis games I've ever seen I've played these games and they're alright.

There is a bootleg I remembered that you didn't cover, its a SNES bootleg based on Sonic the Hedgehog, the weird thing is that the checkpoints were replaced with caged-up marios that had high pitched voices. The game is very jank the physics are off and pressing a certain button crashes the game.

I never played a Mario bootleg, but I know some from UA-cam, I did played some kaizo hacks or fan games, but this was a long time ago I barely touch any hack or fan game in years, but I play the spiritual sequels

The first two I got on Etsy. The other two are genuine fake games directly from Russia. I got them last year. Not sure if eBay still allows sellers from Russia.

About another bootleg mario games you can find a lot of them at conner the waffle's channel but one I remeber is a russian bootleg of super mario bros 3 that play exacly the same as super mario bros 3 but with the twist of coins will hurt you like any other enemy when you touch them
Mario 2 is weird Nintendo made a port of Mario 1 in the lost levels then bootleggers get that version and put sonic over Mario then they put Mario over sonic again.
I also think Mario 4 came before 3. Because 4 has less levels. The thing about there being 2 versions of 4 (one with a final boss and worse controls, and the later one having better controls and a glitch that makes it impossible to get to.) this supports the option that they made 4 first because 4 was out longer and probably sold better and got maybe more complaints which made them think to make a 2nd version of 4 and not of 3.
WAIT WHAT IF THERE IS ANOTHER VERSION OF 3 WITH WARIO AS THE FINAL BOSS
