The aliens are from Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, but they're much more intelligent, and messed with Browser. They even kidnapped Princess Peach. The purple goombas are the aliens, and there are purple goombas in Mario Galaxy.
And the title screen is ripped straight from Galaxy, or at least its stolen from its promotional artwork. I think. It’s been a while, I know the image was definitely used on the cover art for the soundtrack.

Someone probably already said this, but the last bootleg actually ripped some stuff from the Mario and Luigi series. The purple goobas were "Shroobs" which were a common enemy in Partners In Time, and the final boss is actually fart of Fawful's final form in Bowser's Inside Story.

To be honest, this kind of thing scares me. It scary to think that SpaceHamster gets ragged on for not being 'original' or 'copies' someone else's style. As a guy who would like to someday try his hand at these types of videos (for the sake of doing what I love)- the people who say those things are the ones that discourage me to pursue this. I love these types of videos and their respective creators (Jontron, AVGN, PBG, Caddicarus, brutalmoose, Projared, The Completionist, AngryJoe, etc). It just saddens me to see so many people quick to critique and bash on him for not having a "style"- I mean, what does it mean to have a "style"? What I'm seeing up there- is a guy who loves video games. AND that's why I watch these guys; they do what they love- they're pretty much family- and sure, they reference each other; but I think it's flattering that they look up to each other in that sense- I surely don't see a copy. These guys work hard to do their thing, and if they want to show us what they came up with- well, I'm honored. I found this video entertaining, and I'm a new subscriber because of that. To see everyone up at arms about dumb irrelevant topics such as "being a copy", really makes you guys all forget what video games are all about, and what they mean to us. Sure, there's always gonna be console wars- but still as gamers, we should all stay united, and willing to accept with open arms. P.S. SpaceHamster, you should really consider picking up any "Mario and Luigi" game sometime. A really great series!

Being a person fully aware and a fan of other youtubers Jeff is associated with, I can say that I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FROSTED FIG IF HE IS A COPY or SIMILAR TO OTHERS OR WHATEVER!!! This is my first time watching one of your videos. I must say that the comments here are just utterly ridiculous. Jontron ripoff? Really? Since when did Jontron doing this sort of thing make it where nobody else can? Jontron was not the first of his kind nor will he be that last. I mean, does the Nostalgia Critic's existence mean that nobody else can make (or, in the NC's case, ATTEMPT to make) a comedic movie review? Does stuff like retsupurae and ProtonJon mean that nobody else can do Let's Plays? No. Good ideas are MEANT to be copied. Imagine if we were in a world where they couldn't be copied. Things like TVs, automobiles, video games, internet service, and even entire buildings could only come from one source respectively. In other words, most of the economy would be comprised of gigantic monopolies. Hell, why do we even go to school at a young age? Oh, could it be to learn ideas that we as a human race have deemed essential in life and how to use (i/e copy) them? Thus the real question here is, do we have a GOOD copy here? From what I can tell from this one video, you are doing just fine. Don't let these fanboys discourage you.
I agree. SH is really not a rip off of JonTron at all. I watch them both, and they are both very distinct. In fact, I find that his style is more akin to PBG humor, as SH is definitely more clean cut and family friendly than JonTron. JonTron showcases more on his theater school past, while SH shows more of a likeness to his friends PBG and BrutalMoose, more goofy humor, although he does lack a lot of editing effects of both PBG and BrutalMoose. The point is I watch this guy because he is funny, and has similar styles to people I already love to watch, thus I love to watch him too. That is not ripping anyone off or being a blatant copier. He does reviews nobody else does, and his content is unique in comparison.

As a guy who would like to someday try his hand at these types of videos (for the sake of doing what I love)- the people who say those things are the ones that discourage me to pursue this.
I love these types of videos and their respective creators (Jontron, AVGN, PBG, Caddicarus, brutalmoose, Projared, The Completionist, AngryJoe, etc). It just saddens me to see so many people quick to critique and bash on him for not having a "style"- I mean, what does it mean to have a "style"?
What I'm seeing up there- is a guy who loves video games.
AND that's why I watch these guys; they do what they love- they're pretty much family- and sure, they reference each other; but I think it's flattering that they look up to each other in that sense- I surely don't see a copy.
These guys work hard to do their thing, and if they want to show us what they came up with- well, I'm honored.
I found this video entertaining, and I'm a new subscriber because of that. To see everyone up at arms about dumb irrelevant topics such as "being a copy", really makes you guys all forget what video games are all about, and what they mean to us.
Sure, there's always gonna be console wars- but still as gamers, we should all stay united, and willing to accept with open arms.
P.S. SpaceHamster, you should really consider picking up any "Mario and Luigi" game sometime. A really great series!

Hidden Block is like the b-grade version of Normal Boots. Not trying to troll or anything, I sincerely just think that's the best way to describe it.
I was thinking literally the exact same thing. It's like HB are a group of people that were rejected by NB. None of them minus Balrog have much of an identity for their own, and SpaceHamster is the worst offender.

I liked the look of that first game. The sprites and other graphics were damned close to Super Mario World. What a shame that the controls and other gameplay elements were not up to snuff!

This is my first time watching one of your videos. I must say that the comments here are just utterly ridiculous.
Jontron ripoff? Really? Since when did Jontron doing this sort of thing make it where nobody else can? Jontron was not the first of his kind nor will he be that last. I mean, does the Nostalgia Critic's existence mean that nobody else can make (or, in the NC's case, ATTEMPT to make) a comedic movie review? Does stuff like retsupurae and ProtonJon mean that nobody else can do Let's Plays? No.
Good ideas are MEANT to be copied. Imagine if we were in a world where they couldn't be copied. Things like TVs, automobiles, video games, internet service, and even entire buildings could only come from one source respectively. In other words, most of the economy would be comprised of gigantic monopolies. Hell, why do we even go to school at a young age? Oh, could it be to learn ideas that we as a human race have deemed essential in life and how to use (i/e copy) them?
Thus the real question here is, do we have a GOOD copy here? From what I can tell from this one video, you are doing just fine. Don't let these fanboys discourage you.

I agree. SH is really not a rip off of JonTron at all. I watch them both, and they are both very distinct. In fact, I find that his style is more akin to PBG humor, as SH is definitely more clean cut and family friendly than JonTron. JonTron showcases more on his theater school past, while SH shows more of a likeness to his friends PBG and BrutalMoose, more goofy humor, although he does lack a lot of editing effects of both PBG and BrutalMoose. The point is I watch this guy because he is funny, and has similar styles to people I already love to watch, thus I love to watch him too. That is not ripping anyone off or being a blatant copier. He does reviews nobody else does, and his content is unique in comparison.
