The toilets in Indiahikes trek are really good. Before going with them I was also worried, well, not about privacy or wiping, but about smell. I was really surprised to find that there was really no smell, even after one trekker had used it. They use some kind of essential oil and soda or something I don't know which diffuses the smell. I implore Swati to make a detailed video on that so that the other trekkers, on solo trek or a non-Indiahikes trek can use that as well. ❤❤
hey i am maharashtrian iam a trekker but i never trek in himalayas i have completed many treks in maharashtra but thgey are only of max to max 4 hours can i treak in himalayas where you have to trek for 7,8 hours daily and suggest me first trek i am planning in last week of may
I am not sure what India hikes do differently, but I have done a few treks with similar arrangements. If u r first few people using toilet then maybe u don't have smell problems. But after 3-4 use only it start smelling so bad that I find it better to not go there for entire trek.
Thanks a lot for having a dedicated video based on this topic, since it's true that for a beginner, this could be an important point to ponder about. However, I'll end with a question. For trekkers who have medical issues with Indian toilets (squat position), does IndianHikes team have any toilet seat adjustment for replicating a Western toilet system?
they should Put western toilet next to sitting toilet. dont need water also. so people use western toilet. with out any problem. just for sitting position. bottam same method as desi toilet
There is no need for a hanger. You pull your trek pants down to just above your knees so that it does not block your butt and do your business. And then you wipe off and pull it back into place. It's a trek toilet not a hotel one. They have made arrangements. You should make some as well. 🙂
As someone who has done a trek with Indiahikes, I confirm this information.
Hi....Can people use biodegradable wet wipes to clean themselves???

Thank you for sharing your experience. Will definitely come up with more informative videos. :)

What about Western type toilets for people who have difficulty in squatting
This is so weird cause where do you wash your hands and how do you wash your butt when you go number 2

Wow! You have really invented something legendary.
What about washing hands
In these dry toilets can we use bidets (portable plastic bottle) with say a litre of water for basic wash of buttocks along with paper roll?
Nope. Water is scarce.
Can you pee as well in this, as for women it’s difficult?
Yes you can :)
Can we use portable jet spray??
Business 🥸
Tell me Hindi
If you make the toilet seat a little raised (10-12 inches), it could serve as a western toilet.
👌👌👌
