  • Vincent Sherry was a judge and Margaret Sherry was running for mayor. Their children were grown and they were spending their later years trying to make change in the world. When they were found dead in their home in 1987, investigators spent years trying to figure out who wanted the Sherrys dead.

      This is old an terrible case, once I heard the word Beloxy I knew it was it. When this tragedy occurred I was young and I used to think that my country, Mexico, was one of the few corrupt places, not the US where my mom was a Finish that became an American citizen. Money is very, excessively adored by most of our society. Thanks for reading. Sandra. 🇲🇽

      Yeah, it's where a state prison is located in Louisiana. A very notorious one, at that. It has a long history that includes a large number of prisoner deaths, prisoners mysteriously "disappearing" from there, decades of prisoners being murdered by guards and buried on the grounds in secret, horrible conditions that you wouldn't leave a dog in, never mind a human, beatings and basic torture and a decent number of prison breaks. Back in the 1950s, a bunch of prisoners cut their own Achilles tendons as a way of protesting the conditions so people would finally take notice. Imagine how bad it had to be for 30+ grown men to decide that permanently crippling themselves was the only choice they had to bring attention to the goings on and get the state to do something about it. Even for many years after (and long before this) it was known as one of the worst prisons to be sent to. Today I believe it is the largest maximum security prison in the US with a large main complex and several outpost type camps. They have a working farm and ranch, where inmates take care of the animals and train horses and care for cattle to be sold. It has it's own airstrip, it's own magazine and is the only US prison to have it's own radio station. It also has a dog training facility. They manufacture farming equipment and tools and every year, it has the Angola Rodeo, which is open to the public. The inmates do all the work with the horses and such for it and those that do crafting such as woodworking, leather crafting and such can set up booths to sell their products to make money to go into their accounts, though if they owe any court ordered restitution, the money they make goes towards that.

      And a very notorious one. If you're interested in things like that, you should look up the history of Angola prison. Several books have been written by former inmates and interviews done by various news media. I've seen a couple of old documentaries that either include Angola or are about it itself. Lots of corruption, inmate abuse, decades of horrible conditions, deaths, escapees, etc. It was known as the worst US prison for a long time,mwith even hardened criminals getting nervous when they heard they'd be sent there. Today it's the largest maximum security US prison that has its own working farm, horse and cattle ranch, K9 dog training, manufacturing and services like an airstrip used to transport prisoners.

      What was primary in our concern was getting a murderer off the streets and put them in jail so folks were safe from them. We wanted it solved correctly not conveniently as if you convicted the innocent, you let a murderer run free. Never in our wildest dreams did we think a murder could be ordered by someone who was incarcerated! All it takes is money to buy off guards to use untapped phones and crooked attorney! Lynne

    • @1Henry2Finn
      @1Henry2Finn 11 днів тому

      Thank you Miguel! Mom and Dad had reared all of us that if we saw something wrong, you did the best to rectify the situation. I was merely following my upbringing. It strange to think that I just saw this when looking for something else: Today is 37 years and 1 day after they were found. To my knowledge, this was fairly accurate. Interesting side note was that during the initial questioning of myself, Leslie and Eric one of the first things I was asked was the birth order of the children and were we all the natural children of my parents. My thoughts raced as I reached over and clicked off there tape recorder and asked, "What in the hell does that have to do with anything?" They said they knew it was my brother Eric and they theorized that he had recently found out he was adopted and became so angry he murdered them. While my mind raced as to how they had learned this as it was a closely guarded family secret I told them that I know this is a strange thing to say about an adopted child but even if in my wildest thoughts IF Eric had been that angry, he ever could harm Mm in any way as they were like the cord was never cut! I also queried them as to if he was angry enough to do this might he also be that angry with me since I was nearly 7 years old when we got Eric, and he and I were very close. I did find out sometime later that the adoption was called into the Crimestoppers hotline and the woman that was transcribing this recognized the caller's voice as that of Peter Halat! I know that for a fact as one of the police officers at BPD had let me read the entire case file to see if I found inaccuracies. This same police officer when the information on the scams and its goals came to light as well as Pete's involvement, stated "get it out of here. I am going to be working for that murdering SOB in a few months." He also stated that the case was going to kill him one day. He did die of a heart attack sometime later; RIP Mike Meaut. We (Rex and I) then took it to the DA and the HCSD and started getting some action. More accurate and in greater depth was the book written by Edward Humes, Mississippi Mud. Lynne Sherry Sposito

    34:50 What on earth did she go to the Biloxi police department for? Especially knowing that narc officer was at least probably involved? And her father's law partner now being the mayor?
    That is at minimum a state police department, but more of a case to take to the FBI. Too many locals involved. That's almost a written request to be next on the list or for a sibling to wind up killed.

    I just heard this for the first time today, 37 years and one day after my parents were found. Pretty good job with only minor flaws but it is a very convoluted story which takes much longer to tell the entire story than you would have in a podcast. y the way, Kirksey Nix has applied for a compassionate release due to his arthritis. He should get out when every person either he has murdered (6 or 7 since he was incarcerated) or caused to be murdered can walk out of their graves! Lynne Sherry Sposito

    ANGOLA? WTH? LOL!
    Wikipedia > The Louisiana State Penitentiary (known as Angola, and nicknamed the "Alcatraz of the South", "The Angola Plantation" and "The Farm"[8]) is a maximum-security prison farm in Louisiana operated by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections. It is named "Angola" after the former slave plantation that occupied this territory. The plantation was named after the country of Angola from which many slaves originated before arriving in Louisiana.

    Lynne would have made her parents proud! She was a tenacious bulldog who wasn’t going to go quietly into the night without exhausting every avenue! In the sleazy corners of Biloxi then and the strong ‘good ol boy’ network still strong in the South, Lynne is very lucky she didn’t meet her parents fate. Luckily that would have been a death too far that even the corrupt Biloxi cops would have to do something about!

    Okay, pause for a second…so let’s assume Vincent didn’t take the half million from the laundering account and that Pete did (which is probably what happened), what was Pete’s objective with putting a hit out on Vince? Just to deflect from him probably taking the money? That seems so stupid, like what is the point of going after someone? The issue is the lost money, killing the guy means the money is still going to be lost. And then on top of that you’ve got 2 high profile people dead. Oh wait right, the wife was going to uncover all this bullshit and Pete was toast. But the FBI already had all this info regardless so what happened? Shit didn’t just end with the wife, tf? How did all of this go forward, like with Pete even being able to run? You’d think the FBI would be like on all these peoples asses. Damn, Pete is one shady ass mfer, he’s playing both sides.
