I was holding my phone with the video playing on my left hand and practicing the trick with my right hand, and while going slowly I started to speed up not even watching the knife and when I looked over to my right hand I was suddenly doing the trick perfectly! Something that helped me be able to finally keep a chaplin going past the first rotation was understanding that the if you want it to keep spinning you'll need to angle your hand for your spin to be much more horizontal. The starting position for the chaplin is vertical, you can't keep doing a horizontal chaplin while returning it to that position without doing it very slowly, once I got that, I gained another 2-3 rotations within 2 minutes of practice.

The whole approach to a Chaplin is the G force or outward pull.
When you spin a horizontal Chaplin you want you create large loops with your hand and by doing this the force of the knife is being pulled out from your finger so the weight of the balisong is being forced outward from your finger so the hinge of the balisong will pull against your finger and the inertia will sustain the balisong on your finger.
By making large loops with your hand you are always forcing the balisongs weight away from your finger and it remains spinning.
It’s best to start slow because to much force when starting the Chaplin with cause the handles to release and the Bali will let loose.
Also when from initiating the Chaplin try to keep your finger on more of a forty five degree angle not straight up and down or vertical so the bali hangs downward a bit until you gain momentum and the G force builds up.
This allows the weight of the Bali to pull down not out at first and will help you to get it going then you can go more horizontal as the G force pulls out.

Your flipping tutorials are the best man and do you have any recommendations on a balisong that's not over like $100 but is still pretty good

For the vertical chapin. All you have to do is pull back a little so it keeps around your finger

This helped me a ton! I couldn’t figure out the balance points and movement, or a solid way to approach the trick, even though I can do BT8B.

Just a little tip that worked for me, try alternating between the two methods frequently, start by doing one, then two, then three and if you start getting frustrated switch to going from slow to fast, you'll kind of notice you can get a really tight spin if you kind of let your knuckle joint go kinda limp
