Fountain soda tastes more watered down and less fizzy. Soda, especially Coke, tastes the best in a glass bottle.
trouble with glass bottle cola is 1, its more expensive and you get less for your money and 2, if you don't have a bottle opener on you its very hard to get the damn thing open

I work at McDonald's and we do not get our syrup in metal tins, we get them in bags. Also we don't keep the syrup cold at all, it just sits in the back at room temperature

In the late 60's I worked at French's Coffee Shop in Portland. It was a small neighborhood restaurant with a great menu, of burgers, dinners, drinks, and ice cream sundaes. The Coke, 7up, Root Beer, and Freska syrups were delivered in stainless steel containers. The syrup was fresh and mixed with carbonation at the soft drink dispensers, assuring to always taste it's best. No bagged syrup for us.

I can only speak for when I worked at McDonalds from 1996 to 2000. We had two big stainless steel tanks to put the Coke syrup in, and it was delivered on the same delivery truck as the meat and other refrigerated/frozen products. They'd hook up a hose to a connection outside the store in the same way that the oil company would fill your oil tank.
Before the truck would arrive, the person who would be helping unload the truck would mix up a warm water and powdered sanitizer mix into a much smaller tank. That would then be pumped through the empty Coke tank to rinse any extra syrup that was sticking to the sides of the tank.
In all my years working there, we never ran out of Coke, and we'd always have at least one tank empty before the next truck arrived.
If you ever have to clean one of those fountain drink machine you will not want to drink anymore fountain drink. Just sayin
deez nuts if you consistently clean them they’re aren’t that gross, usually we just twist the nozzles off every night and have them soak in seltzer/soap water and wipe the inside of the spout with a towel, sometimes there’s gunk but there shouldn’t be if a place cleans their machines every night.

The part about the metal tanks isn’t true for all McDonald’s, some maybe sure but I worked at McDonald’s in high school as my first job and the syrup came in bags that are inside cardboard. I work for Coke now and when syrups are delivered to stores they come the same way.

I prefer to get soda pop in a bottle or can, so that I don't have to worry about how well the fountain mixes the syrup and carbonated water.
Stores with dispensers can adjust how much syrup is used. Thats why it may taste sweeter. The types of sugar used for the product is also different depending on where you are in the world.

Andrew-D's Tv I don't like cane sugar in soft drinks. It has a pronounced taste. Corn syrup is smoother. Nutritionally, the is no difference. Both will lead to obesity and diabetes. And sugar-free sodas are bad too. No Coke (or any soda) is the only healthy option.

Why deal with tons of 5 gallon stainless kegs, when you can keep stacks of 5 gallon BIB premix cases in your stockroom. Besides, the argument about "filtered water" wouldn't make sense for post-mix anyway.

The best Coca Cola was when I was a kid before they changed the formula and it was served in ice cold thick glass bottles.I also remember when their was no diet coke. They made Tab,and it was even nastier than DC.Coke zero is great though.My uncle was the head of maintenance at the Atlanta plant.

I work in a pub and can tell you that we use postmix syrup and use all sorts of gases where as when you buy it from a shop they dont use that kind of stuff they just use different shit in the bottles cause with a bottle you can either get a flat drink or fizzy its lucky if you get your drikk fizzy cause the machine that puts your drink into a bottle is not cleaned. Postmix syrup is good for use as in the cellar we use all different machines and our branded Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Lemonade and just original soda water

In my opinion, they have finely calibrated the effect of the McD's fountain cola in combination with the French fries. I can recall that the effect was rather good. But try to order just a cola without any fast food and you will not like it that much. You can reproduce this effect to an extent at home if you're eating potato chips in combination with a cola. Something to do with the different effects of salt and sweet upon each other. But while I'm not a special fan of Coca Cola, I would always prefer it in a bottle or in a can. The fountain cola can only be drunk very fast because the ice is melting all the time, changing the taste every second...

A fountain, bottled and canned soda are all going to taste different right down to the way they are served. I am sorry if you don't have the palate to detect nuance in flavor. The product tastes different depending on how and where it is served. Sometimes you get that bottle or can that is just the perfect carbonation.
A lot of people choose to eat there but that doesn't mean anything about the quality of the actual product.

That's the least of your worries, if you drink too much Coca-Cola your blood cells are overworked. It has to dilute it and extract the sugar. Your body then becomes dependant on the sugar and if you don't get it you'll become irritable and feel sluggish, sick and generally on a downer.
If all this wasn't enough, drinking it too much can cause bones to become brittle and weaker. When you drink Coke instead of water your body just can't handle it. And you'll not produce as much blood as you should be. This is why if you do get diabetes as result of too much Coke, you need insulin to replace the excess sugars your body is now relying on.

It's the syrup/soda water concentration. Many restaurants get cheap and water down their colas. Even pepsi tastes better with just a touch more syrup. Remember, soda fountain sodas used to be mixed by the person behind the counter, not by a machine. So to keep customers coming back, they made the sweet, brown liquid just a little extra sweet and brown.....and it worked.

I don't know why but Wendy's coke tastes like medicine except the doctor is a black market drug dealer in my opinion.
Always thought because they were using different sugar or high-fructose corn syrup mix. Coca-Cola out of a can or bottle taste different compared to Coke and a cup with ice.

Those spokespeople lied. Maybe it was the fact that I worked at a franchise instead of a corporate McDonald's but the syrup comes in bags in cardboard boxes. The water might be chilled...but the syrup is kept at room temp even when going through the insulated tubes.

Where I live, all the McD’s have had new straws since Christmas. They bend before ever getting into the top. I literally have to Pierce the cover with a finger before the damned soft new straws will go into the cup and they warp and bend from just swirling the ice.
In Australia the McDonald's Coke comes via bags but it is made with actual sugar.
