Ouch! Well, I think most of the students who visit and comment on the Rate My Professor site are simply in school to get through it. As an adult who returned to college, I visited the site once and only because I had to drop a class due to a very biased instructor. After viewing the site, I realized my opinion of the controlling dictator was correct: she was described as a psychopathic narcissistic instructor, who de-MAND-ed EVERYONE address her as Dr! Ummm, if you are a professor, normally (and in most cases), you have obtained your Ph.D. So, the title “Professor” kind-of establishes your education level in a student’s mind, I would think.
Tatsujiro Kurogane actually this is a regional thing. The USA and possibly Canada uses professor for anyone teaching at a tertiary institution (or at least anyone not an adjunct) whereas others places like Australia and where you live only use professor for the people at the top levels.
Okay, obviously SOME folks are offended by my comment: i.e. an opinion based on MY experience. Therefore, let me overtly explain my stance. The use of the title Dr was NOT my sole objection concerning dropping the class; many factors were involved. Based on the video clip, I simply shared ONE aspect of my experience concerning the site “Rate My Professor.” In addition to this, and concerning the esteemed (and earned) title: Dr; most students honor all of their professors. However, when a professor demands the title be used, the act demonstrates a weakness in THEIR being, IN MY OPINION. At the time, I was a student at a community college. I would have been pleased to address most of the associate professors as “Dr.” But to be told to use the address even when simply asking a question in class, instead of saying professor, seems a bit narcissistic. Thus, to better illustrate my point, let me share this. Currently, I attend a highly esteemed learning institution where EVERY professor has earned SERIOUS academic credentials. Hence, each professor I now encounter has earned a RIGHT to be addressed by such a coveted title: Dr. Yet, I have not encountered ONE professor who has demanded their students address them as “Dr.” On the contrary, I have received emails and have conversed with them and they have used their first name to close ALL of the conversations. Therefore, because of their warm personable ability to teach and instruct from a place of security, I will ALWAYS address my current professors as DOCTOR!!! Why? Because they have EARNED such respect due to their ability to treat me, a learner, as one they relate to (or with), rather than condescend. There is a difference in instructing students: showing respect towards the learner GARNERS respect from those who PAY to glean from your professorship.
Do people not realize that most people are only professors so they can receive funding for the things they actually want to do? It's like, "Here we'll give you $xxxxxxx, but you have to teach X classes."
Up to the 1960's less than 5% of the Ontario population graduated from Grade 13 ( equivalent to 1st year university today or higher). Since then standards have declined and marks have gone up - today 28.5% of the population get Bachelors degrees. Many of the "professors" in the Humanities would not have qualified.
I wish the professors would actually take some of the reviews and change their approach. Especially the ones whose overall ratings are low and not just one bad review
Yeah, I'm a teaching assistant right now and although I'm inexperienced, I would be concerned if a student came to me and said they felt I was doing something that was hurting the class, and I would really try to evaluate what they were saying and make some changes. I made a video compilation of these kinds of snarky professors: ua-cam.com/video/4joxyzYZqy8/v-deo.html
Joseph Wong is conceited. When chairing talks and seminars at U of T that were opened to the public, he kept talking about himself and his achievements and university appointed positions - showing off. A sociologist by training (with a PhD dissertation in healthcare reform in Taiwan), he was appointed by U of T as a prof. of political science. In the aforesaid public talks/seminars he would say he isn't a political scientist even in front of fellow departmental political scientist colleagues.
Two of my favourite professors are in this video who I couldn’t get a good mark from them but I still like them. I think they just need to train and work with better teacher assistants.
I personal think some of professors in the videos are the most popular Professors in UTM, people wrote mean reviews to them just because of they did not take the course seriously, they should try professor Bailey's eco 200, professor Jerry's sta302 and Professor Daniel's computer science courses to see what are the "real" bird courses in UTM.
A lot of the science major professors are at colleges to do research. This means they might be a great scientists or a good person but not necessarily a good teacher.
I’ve seen people complain about the algebra prof at my school because she has the expectation that they come to class to learn, not play on their phones. I always thought it was weird they even show up to play on their phones since the school is non-attendance taking, like just stay home 😂 the benefit of coming back to college after ten years, seeing high school antics again 😂
Hope that guy who quite literally admitted he didn't give a shit gets fired. Get a job in the field you teach in and leave the teaching to someone else.
"Too" is an adverb, much alike "very", the student was saying she speaks very fast. It was used to describe her action of speaking, a verb. On the other hand "to" is a preposition, and wouldn't make much sense in the context of the student's review. So, it was used correctly by the student. Although seeing professors make simple mistakes is kind of funny, it is a bit scary that they feel this intense need to regain control of the situation by correcting the reviews. Like comments that correct your grammar when they are losing, "Yeah I'm wrong, but at least I can use the correct to, two or too," or in this case when corect you but can't. My condolences to all students that are right but their professor corrects them anyway, and bullies them into submission because of their near unlimited grading power mixed with the fragility of their ego. 😭
this joseph wong is the face of my physics professor here, just to full of himself admit's it and take pride of hating what he does and misering other's people lifes. i honestly dont know how there are peaple that still wants to hire this kind of '''''professor''''
0:45 the professor is wrong, "speaks too fast' is correct "Too" means to a greater degree, "To" means motion in the direction of. If someone speaks more quickly than you would like, you would describe it as too fast.
people seem to think that you can only be a good professor if you "love" your job, are super passionate, etc. why? is a dentist a better dentist if they're super passionate? a carpenter? a mortician? maybe, but in a limited and not straightforward sense. it seems like people have a *much* higher expectation for educators, which is stupid, especially given how little many of them are paid.

All uni lecturers are commies or crypto-commies
Aint it too?
One professor said “I’ll take this as constructive feedback”, and the rest just laughed and did nothing to dissuade people against the review 😵
Joseph Heath contains eerily resemblance to a younger Ray Romano.
Wow, these reviews are brutal... and hurtful. I feel bad for the profs.
I still remember what my brother ( who went to U of T ) told me about this place when I started applying for universities. I believe it was, “Don’t go to U of T.” This confirms that I made the right decision. Thanks big brother! 😊🙏
They are not better elsewhere in Canada either.
Philosophy teachers are super cool people
The University of Toronto should take 1/4 of the students they take every year. Most UofT students should not be in university, period.
Money talks
Technically a problem with the high schools right? U of T has a fixed admissions average. If high schools are inflating grades that’s on them.
Jung is her real last name? That's so dope
It's be even crazier if she taught psychology.
Some probably do, but I'm not sure the overall ratings for these particular professors are low.
I see you could only get a few departments to participate.
None of them were hot. Why do people keep saying that their not so attractive professors are hot?
Akeela Maryam I assume it’s a troll
thirsty
Akeela Maryam maybe because people have different preferences that is not yours
prorfessors are criminaly underpaid, this is just a little frustrating
THE WORD "too" IS SPELLED 'T' 'O'
You’re slow
I hate people who do that.
Nah it will help you
This is great. Thank you.
Why does this video even exist in the first place
None of these professors are rated below 3 on ratemyprof, there is much much worse
this joseph wong is the face of my physics professor here, just to full of himself admit's it and take pride of hating what he does and misering other's people lifes. i honestly dont know how there are peaple that still wants to hire this kind of '''''professor''''
Should've put in the incarnation of Lucifer aka bailey
djromeboy25 David Bailey? He’s fine
“A Hemingway try-hard.” Ouch.
"Yeah, I don't know why, but I just hate the professor. Hope my review helps you plan your education. Thx."
0:45 the professor is wrong, "speaks too fast' is correct "Too" means to a greater degree, "To" means motion in the direction of. If someone speaks more quickly than you would like, you would describe it as too fast.
She said too, but explained that the student wrote to
15,181 is not hack!
1:40 Land of the free moment.
Anyone here from Toronto???
I’m in high school and I’m hoping to get in but it’s going to be very hard especially since it’s a great university
Missing Jordan Peterson
Now do profs without tenure
Professor Hurl can get it! Total DADDY
Prof mount gives me good vibes
people seem to think that you can only be a good professor if you "love" your job, are super passionate, etc. why? is a dentist a better dentist if they're super passionate? a carpenter? a mortician? maybe, but in a limited and not straightforward sense. it seems like people have a *much* higher expectation for educators, which is stupid, especially given how little many of them are paid.
Where are my accounting/business profs? 😭
HAHAHAHA THIS IS WHY I LEFT U OF T THIS IS IT
El Xanny where did u go?
New Acc went to OCAD after my second year at u of t

one hundred and ninety tweets
1:15 did he say 2 hours a week?
Asking classmates are better than rate of my pro
So, should I or should I not apply to the law program? 😂
A college professor doesn’t know the difference between “too” and “to”???
Where is Jordan Peterson?
0:43 "too fast" is actually spelled correctly, she changed it to "to fast"
No, the comment was changed as she pointed out that they spelled it as “to” when it is correctly spelled as “too” in that context
@@hailee176 They have edited it to make her look better.
@@12345NoNamesLeft ? No, they edited it a way that was a bit confusing but she was correct
@@hailee176 That's not what played a year ago.
professors only teach 2 hours a week!?
UoT is a research university. The main focus is research, not teaching.
