Even though it doesn't necessarily count as an alternative, you should have mentioned the various controller adapters that let you connect other gamepads you may already have, and they can be all wireless. The Mayflash MAGIC-NS, in particular, is my favorite as it supports Rumble (not HD) AND Gyro on the controllers that have it in them.
Small note on the Gamecube controller from PowerA, just got one myself-- the buttons are very loud and clicky, this could be good or bad, but given everyone is working from home lately, I'd recommend just using your joycons if you don't want to risk bothering anyone. Can also confirm notes in video; I actually got this specifically for Mariokart, since my dad was complaining the small joycon buttons kept making his thumb sore whenever he played, and I'm inclined to agree. Also just used it for Zelda today, as mentioned in the video, it works but it's awkward. I kept instinctively going for A when I was supposed to press Y or X, similar issue when playing Animal Crossing. I've mostly found it works best for Mariokart or Smash, so if those are games you'll be playing a lot, I'd recommend it (as long as you invest in rechargeable batteries and a charging dock for them, buying new batteries all the time isn't good for the environment *or* your wallet, ha)
The official Pro Controller dethroned the 360 controller for my all-time favorite. Best feeling, best rumble, motion control support, and an amazing battery life.
I use the generic Bluetooth one for almost everything and I like it. Motion, rumble, wireless, it’s got it all. I did have to manually update firmware once after a switch update but the company sent me all the info on how to do it.

I got to check out Nyko's new colorful pro controlelrs at CES and they are actually amazing. Yep. 8bitdo makes one and it works beautifully. Motion controls, rumble, feels good in the hand (because I'm used to it), thumbsticks are perfect for me (because I've been a Playstation guy all my life) and it even has all of the necessary buttons.
@Martin Schmidt that his own personal opinion, to me the x box one is too oddly shaped and it's trigger go up too high. Plus doesn't have the hd rumble when using an adapter
Would love if Hori would make a smaller wireless controller with the same DPad they have in their Joycon. That might be my favorite DPad I've used so far on Switch, even over the 8BitDo pads.
I use the Power A wireless gamecube controller as a Main controller and it really is the best controller out of all the options in my opinion. Really gives you a retro feeling with a new twist to it
You really went with the pro controller for #1? Seriously Bob, What is the point of naming the video "Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Alternatives" then?!
Because he said alternative not replacement. He clearly says her only recommends getting these if you don't want to fork over the 10-20$ for the 1st party controller since none of these have all the features of the pro or feels as good. So until one is made it's a alternative not a replacement.

As someone with small hands i love the joycons. they're amazing for anything except shooters or rocket league
8BITDO IS BEST, CMON!
Can't like this, because I don't support the term 'best' but it is pretty cool, aye
I have the arcade stick!!
@Wulff Den. I bought that first controller you talked about. It came as a 2 pack for $58. I bought 2 packs (4 controllers) It was a cheap/smart option to get for supplying friends for 4 player smash/mario kart. It uses usb type C and has rumble.
The double-Bob video effect was really nice.
hahaha, man WULL DEN is my favorite content creator. No one can replicate this guy's charm for me.
I bought the smash ultimate pro controller and I’ve never looked back, totally worth the $5 extra bucks.(on top of $70 pro controller)
I got mine with the steel case bundle
Anthony Rivera same! absolutely love it ❤
I've been using the PowerA Enhanced Wireless Controller for Fortnite and it has worked like a charm. Saved me money from trying to get a SCUF to work with my switch.
The best third party pro controller is the NYko Wireless Core Controller
Where can i find this controller at do gamestop have it
I love the enhanced power a controller especially for Rocket League. Super helpful to have a similar set up to my steam controller: mapping the back paddles to air roll right and left.
Well, I got me an 8bitdo controller after your constant praise for it... and I already ordered a second one. Holy shit, that controller is fantastic. May be because my first console was an SNES, so I might be a bit biased, but damn. It feels good.
8bitdo sn30pro is one of the best lacks hd rumble but oh wow playing with this controller brings back so many memories
I was a whackjob usin the joycon grip for about a year lol... just got a pro controller and uhhh yea its a must buy
Forgot to comment and say thank you for the review, it helped me change my mind about buying this controller when I saw it on Amazon, and I bought one :)
Witch one
Witch one(timestamp plz)
I have that magic usb stick and I use the ps4 controller. I cant get it to be wireless but its fine.
Really? Mine works wirelessly.. maybe you have to change the mode on it. i believe mine flashes red when connected to the ps4 remote.
I believe when I try, it works wirelessly for about 15-20 seconds and then it disconnects
I haven't tried in while tho. I'll give it another shot.
So PS4 controller works with switch? What about Xbox one controller?
@@mr.teekanee9750 yes, I havent tried myself though, but look up "magic usb switch" on youtube and many say it work with ps3, ps4, and xbox one controllers.
All you need is the Magic usb stick. I checked today on Amazon and it cost $22.99. Good deal if you ask me.
Ok, I maybe have something like that to connect my nvidia shield tablet with my controller but it's very short and what about bluetooth connection between switch and PS4 or Xbox controller?
Wørlph 2's delivery here is perfect and satisfying 7:00
I got to check out Nyko's new colorful pro controlelrs at CES and they are actually amazing. They have several color options and have everything except NFC, retail for 30 bucks, and feel pretty good in the hand. Oh and has rechargeable battery (though it's micro USB if memory serves). Nothing beats the Pro controller, but for 30 bucks you're getting an incredible value.
Edit: just checked the site, it's actually Type C. Also has turbo function if you're into that. nyko.com/collections/switch/products/wireless-core-controller-red-for-nintendo-switch
i love it when you and beatemups do collabs like in this video 7:01
Wish you tried out the Nyko Wireless Core Controller.
I'm an 8bitdo and official pro controler user. I also use the switch in tabletop mode when out and about and the 8bitdo pad is great for portability
Review the new Nyko power core that’s wireless, it features motion control and rumble
Liked the video simply for the editing at 7:00. Funny asf
Lmao god damn dude, your other you scared the hell outta me!
I picked up a Pro Controller with my Switch day 1. I like the joycon grip fine, but I've never regretted that decision.
Is there a reason why the gameboy version of the sn30 is better than the snes version?
I'm curious to know this as well. I'm guessing it's because of the added ridges on the d-pad, but maybe there are other reasons??
I think it’s because the Gameboy’s D-pad is better.
It's the d-pad. I have a video on it, which is linked in a card.
He prefers the D-pad. If it's not your preference, or you don't care either way, they're probably about the same in quality.
I'm using Joy-cons with grip. They are not bad. And yes, I've used many different controllers on many platforms. But I'm wacko. My fav is Steam controller :)
🤔, could you or anyone give me a review on the switch surge pad?
I’ve been a whack job using the joy cons until I found this channel!!!
Nothing wrong with Joycon grip.
The Power A designs are 🔥🔥🔥
60$ xbox controller without a rechargeable battery: yeah seems reasonable
70$ controller with 40 hour battery life: "NO"
xbox controller is also a windows 10 controller; and nintendo games are not xbox games, meaning people who play xb1/ps4 have a different standard anyway
I love that you yelled at yourself for going off topic. That was hilarious!
Answer
PS4 controller using Ns adapter
Yep. 8bitdo makes one and it works beautifully. Motion controls, rumble, feels good in the hand (because I'm used to it), thumbsticks are perfect for me (because I've been a Playstation guy all my life) and it even has all of the necessary buttons.
Lol I would have understood if you said xbox one on switch but why the cheapest feeling controller of all 3 companies?
@@NaaimSiddiqi right and the layout of the controller is just right, not to mention it's symmetry
@Martin Schmidt that his own personal opinion, to me the x box one is too oddly shaped and it's trigger go up too high.
Plus doesn't have the hd rumble when using an adapter
PS4 controllers are trash. There is too much travel on the shoulder buttons
Would love if Hori would make a smaller wireless controller with the same DPad they have in their Joycon. That might be my favorite DPad I've used so far on Switch, even over the 8BitDo pads.
*smashes generic bluetooth controller*

7:01 “WE’RE NOT TALKIN ABOUT THAT” 😂😂😂
Thank you so much for putting the time I was looking for this
i love you internet daddy
I use the Power A wireless gamecube controller as a Main controller and it really is the best controller out of all the options in my opinion. Really gives you a retro feeling with a new twist to it
The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is now $49.99.... So this is kinda irrelevance now.
Refurbished Nintendo Switch Pro Controller on sale for under $50
Congrats on 300K gentlemen!
@@billy-waynejeffcoat4828 you clearly don't understand the meaning of the "alternative", lol.
@@lemoneken no I do, but you clearly don't understand it's a "shitty alternative" if it lacks features.
@@billy-waynejeffcoat4828 you're still fucking stupid though. The title of the video says 'alternatives', you *sure* you know what that means? Means controllers *besides* the official pro controller.... Anything *BUT* the official pro controller could be on here and it'd be no problem, the moment he put that, as number 1 no less, he shouldn't have made the title alternatives you fucking moron. He didn't just say 'all good pro controllers' so fuck off.
@@billy-waynejeffcoat4828 Think long and hard of what he titled the video; then think about what you just said.
This guy reviews are the best, he's so funny 😂
prbly gonna look for the cheapest deal in store for the holiday season, but keeping these brand names in mind will be good when shopping for a Switch and its accessories. thanks Wulff!
Oh my brain... I completely lost it when a second you came into view
I just bought my pro controller today, I got it for 59.99 at Walmart. I'm loving it!! I'm playing super Mario deluxe with it while using the D pad and its perfectly fine, wayyyy better than the joy con grip. Yeah just save up for a pro controller yall
My friend at Game Stop highly suggested the Nintendo Pro Controller. I found on Amazon for $55 bucks!
Glad to know he was right! This controller is much like my Xbox One controllers! Good grip and very easy to adjust from Xbox One to the Switch!
I have a railay pro controller for the switch it's 40 dollars , I'm in Canada. And it look exactly like the pro controller. I got two and they been a blessing. Amazon has them. They are wireless with type c charge also rumble and motion control works with it, I can do some shrines on botw and I got a lite
I have to say, the Switch pro controller is definitely the best controller in general I've ever used. It has all of the standard inputs for AAA games, the D pad and thumbsticks are great, and it's one of the only controllers that doesn't make my hands cramp after an hour of use. It's definitely worth it if you can afford it, even if you don't have a Switch since it works with PC iirc.

"20 dollars cheaper"
pretty darn accurate for the discount when it comes to nzd
Nyko wireless core controller feels great, has rumble, motion controls, rechargable battery and a USB type c cable, for 30 bucks!!!
Yup i thought this one would be on the list
