8bitdo made the Lite SE recently, finally being the first controller I've ever used that allows me to actually have access to all the buttons I need as a one-handed gamer. No other big name controller company has ever cared as much for the disabled gaming community as 8bitdo.
Xbox created a controller that is insanely customizable for the disabled gaming community. It's like a flat slab with 20+ headphone jacks to customize how you could setup your buttons.
Something to note, Gulikit is the one manufacturing the hall effect sensors for this controller. So it's the same stick as the one in the Gulikit controller
@@auralynn3862 well, I hope it's good anyway. I was in doubt about Gulikit, but as I only play on PC I chose 8Bitdo Ultimate 2.4 ghz (and also for the xbox buttons). And yes, PINK lol.
Wow I didn't know this! It is able to wake the Switch in 2.4G mode using the home button now without doing that silly shake you had to do in Bluetooth mode, thanks for the tip!
Couple of things missed here: As a lot have already pointed out, the base has USB pass-through for the dongle. More importantly, only the Bluetooth version has Hall Effect joysticks. The 2.4Ghz version has traditional potentiometer joysticks. Also the 2.4Ghz versions is available in pink, but the Bluetooth version is not.
And also hall effect triggers. Those don't crap out as easily, but hey, good to have nonetheless. Now, I do feel like Gulikit KingKong Pro 2 does it better with its easily replaceable and 50 million click rated face buttons, but it lacks the back buttons. Shoulder buttons are now the part that's most prone to failing in both these controllers especially with a game like Rocket League.
@@h_x_h you're right, wow... I didn't think the difference would be so large, or that the 2.4 GHz model is same price as the Pro 2 Bluetooth. Meanwhile the wired pro 2 is 35$, ie the price jump from wired to bluetooth pro 2 is smaller than the jump from wireless to bluetooth ultimate
if the base has 2.4ghz passthrough then that's amazing, totally worth it for the price: leave it docked on either machine to charge and then switch to BT mode whenever you want to.
The drift that happens occasionally is a sign that it has low battery, the light on top starts blinking red. Charging it fixes it, it has happened to me more than once.
I’ve felt a big difference in input times and stability between the Bluetooth on my Pro 2 and the Ultimate 2.4Ghz. Absolutely love that they added that as a connection method, I only use this controller with my Switch anyway so I just keep the dongle plugged in.
"I’ve felt a big difference in input times and stability between the Bluetooth on my Pro 2 and the Ultimate 2.4Ghz." - In favor of which? Which one was better? "Absolutely love that they added that as a connection method, I only use this controller with my Switch anyway so I just keep the dongle plugged in." - Didn't Wulff just say this controller only works in Bluetooth mode on Switch? So what benefit does it provide to plug the 2.4Ghz dongle into the Switch? Or did Wullf get it wrong?
@@YounesLayachi In what context? Will the controller work in 2.4Ghz mode if the dongle is in the controller dock when connected via USB to the Switch Dock? Is this somehow different from plugging dongle directly into the Switch dock, because in theory the USB connection from the dock to dock, should just be a "pass-through". So in theory, it shouldn't matter. Or is there a difference I'm not aware of. I need context. Does the 2.4Ghz mode that Wulff claims does not work on Switch, actually work? And if it does work, does it work when the dongle is directly plugged into the Switch dock, or does it need to plugged into the controller dock and then the controller dock plugged into Switch.
@@valhallasashes4354 The switch version of this controller works in either bluetooth or 2.4 mode with the switch but doesn't have D or X mode so it won't work with stuff that needs that.
@@valhallasashes4354 you can choose 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth. If you choose 2.4 GHz mode, then you don't need to plug the dongle into the switch, that's all I'm saying.
I think it's cool that if you leave the dongle inside the dock and connect the dock to the switch or PC, you can still use the 2.4gh mode. Simply described, the dongle works inside the dock and i really like that function
The controller has 1 massive flaw that previous 8bitdo controllers also had. You cannot use gyro and vibration at the same time. When the controller vibrates, the gyro goes haywire. The Switch Pro Controller does not have this issue. This makes the 8bitdo Ultimate unusable for me in Monster Hunter Rise on Switch, for example.
@@mndrgs Yes, I can confirm. Because of the issue, I only used my Pro 2 for PC games, and it looks like my Ultimate controller will share the same fate. This is unfortunate, because I otherwise like the controller, but Monster Hunter Rise is my most played Switch game with 600ish hours. I imagine that this makes the controller a deal-breaker for other games that utilize motion, such as possibly Splatoon, unless you are willing to turn of vibration. I can't in Monster Hunter since vibration indicates charge levels on weapons, such as Bow. Nor would I want to turn vibration off, since it generally enhances the experience.
@@Hathos9 i can't play games without vibration (except those without a vibration built in obviously) but i not use motion too much. sucks there's no option tho
Just a heads up. The 2.4G version of the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller doesn't have the Hall Effect joysticks. It uses ALPS. The Hall Effect Joysticks is only on the Bluetooth model. Also, the 2.4Ghz dongle has a passthrough effect when it's plugged into the dock, so you can just connect it to the Switch dock and you're good to go. The gyro works pretty well on it, too. It's a smudge slower than the Pro Controller, but not by much.
@@TheLuckster I haven't experienced that. The little bit of Splatoon 3 that I played using gyro didn't really have too much of an effect when rumble feedback was going off.

As far as analog triggers go, with some racing games like GRID, you can put accelerate and brake on the right stick to give analog inputs and then “switch right stick with triggers” in the ultimate app to get analog function out of the triggers. Pretty nifty way to be able to get racing sims to be playable on switch.
You dont have to pick out the dongle to use it. The compartment inside the dock is a working usb port. Simply connect the Charging dock to the Switch dock for power and you should be good to go using 2.4g aswell. Atleast this is how it works on PC. Also, you can wake the system remotely with this by shaking it.
@@alexnicolaou3579 My experience is that the 2.4g mode is somewhat slower than the bluetooth connection, because the input has to go through the switch wired port. But it should have better range. Also, you cannot wake the console with the controller if its set to 2.4g Ive been using the Bluetooth mostly, but the dock is really nice for charging.
I got this controller so I didn't need 2 different controllers on my desk for my Switch and PC. One of the best purchases I've made in a while. The customization through software and paddles on the back are nice touch and didn't think I'd use them as much as I ended up doing. Being able to switch control between my PC and Switch by just flipping a switch (lots of 'switches') is amazing! Overall, I'm very satisfied and would recommend it to anyone in the same situation.
Almost every video about this controller understandably miss that the dock actually has a USB passthrough to the dongle. You can just hook up the dock to your PC or Switch to use the 2.4ghz
@@thedecembomber wait so you mean when the dongle is in the dock and the dock is connected to the switch the dongle will work though the dock into the switch?
Since discovering Bob’s channel a few years ago he has single handily changed my Switch gaming experience. Introduced me to accessories and controllers I may never would found or even known about. Thanks Bob for all your hard work! 👍🏼 Had my eye on this controller as a alternative to my Pro pad since it was announced by 8bitdo… may just pluck for the preorder
In some other video I heard that the dock can passthrough the dongle connection, so you can connect the whole dock with the dongle inside to your Switch dock, and use the dongle that way.
The need this solves for me is easily switching back and forth between Switch and PC whilst only having one controller on my desk. And I’m used to Nintendo style buttons. I might even do the heresy of using hair triggers. At least on the Switch.
as I sat here playing Pokemon at 4 am with my 8bitdo ultimate wireless controller, i agreed with every point you made here. I can't believe i didn't realize the 2.4 GHz dongle was in there!! now I can play PC and switch without having to reconnect Bluetooth every time. fantastic video
Bought this gamepad on Amazon. And, unfortunately, I found a defect on the left stick. When I moved it all the way to the left, it felt like it was slightly clinging to something. As it turned out, the problem is very simple to solve. Take apart the gamepad, remove the stick head and put it back upside down. On the inside of the stick head there are micro-increments on one side that create this effect. Most likely it was just put upside down during assembly. Otherwise, there are no complaints to the device at all. The gamepad is awesome.
Although this controller is marketed towards Nintendo switch, I've managed to connect it to my ps4 pro and have been using it ever since and I don't see any input delay so far.
I recently got the 8bitdo Ultimate Controller after my Pro Controller started drifting. I think the controller is a solid controller. I love the charging dock. The only downside is lack of amiibo scanning. However, having hall sensing sticks was a good trade off.
I definitively am going to pick up this controller. I've been looking for an alternative to the official Pro controller that has back buttons PLUS vibration and that is wireless. And this one seems to fit the bill just nicely.
@@Rockman64xthere's no reason to buy it over an official pro controller unless that dpad is killing you on the official one but if you want a good dpad get the pro 2 or an sn 30
Thanks for the review! I enjoy having a collection of 8bitdo controllers for when I have a large group over playing 4v4 Killer Queen Black or now the new Mario Strikers 4v4. So having a collection of 8+ controllers can get tricky but fun to have variations of stuff. Love what you do!
I use the 8bitdo Pro 2 on my SNES console! The d-pad in my old SNES controllers were kinda worn down and I couldn't find good replacement membranes. Plus the 8bitdo Pro 2 is more comfortable to hold than the original controller AND it's wireless to boot! The d-pad is outstanding! Soft to the touch but accurate.
I feel like this is a great controller for me to upgrade for my switch. I have a power A wireless port controller and I can tell it's cheap. It does the job, but I think it would be worth it to upgrade to this one based on the better build quality and features it has. Good video Bob.
PC Gamer here. Had a Xbox Elite Series 2, the shoulder button died. Sent it in for repairs, it died again. Warranty was out. Bought a DualSense, it got stick drift. I bought a 8bitdo years ago for my Switch so I thought getting this new one would be a nice replacement. I like the build quality of 8bitdo controllers, but the form factor of them would always hurt my hands after long play sessions. Fun little thing to note if you’re using the USB Dongle (though, this applies to any USB Controller for Switch). If you’ve ever tried using BT Headphones with The Joycons or Pro Controller wireless, you’ve probably noticed that in addition to some real rough sound quality, the latency gets dramatically worse over time. However, using the 2.4ghz mode on this controller, because it’s freed up BT bandwidth, those latency issues are severely reduced. While it doesn’t really improve on the sound quality itself, it’s considerably more bearable when I don’t see people’s mouths move two seconds before hearing anything at all. So yeah, that in addition to every other awesome feature with this controller, it’s fantastic.
Finally a controller with Hall Effect Sensing joysticks AND rear buttons. Gullikit came so close, but this one seems like it may finally ben an answer to all my controller issues.
I decided to grab the 2.4gh model. I needed a controller just for my PC, which doesn't have Bluetooth. Works great so far. I like that you can keep the dongle in the dock and just plug the dock into the computer.
It's interesting whenever people compare Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz. Bluetooth is 2.4Ghz, specifically the 2.45 part of the band. Which is why I don't understand why Bluetooth has more input lag...
This was such a fantastic video. I came in wanting to buy one of these, but you definitely got me thinking more critically about whether I would actually use it. I hope the move is going well and I can’t wait to see the new stream setup!
I really like 8bitdo products, and I also like wulff den reviews. But this time I'm a little bit surprised he didn't talk about (or maybe I missed it) gyro, rumble, and nfc compared to a pro controller. Edit : also is it possible to use it as a wired controller ? Edit 2 : It seems it is also available in pink, that looks super good
@@johntheslider5802 Neither am I, I would absolutely love to purchase that pink controller, but I only tend to use my 8bitdo stuff for switch. I'm a bit bummed.
@@johntheslider5802 another option would be hoping this thing gets as rich of a modding scene as the normal pro controller so i can just buy aftermarket shells (and hopefully buttons) for it in any color, maybe even some transparent ones
Yeah, HD rumble is one of the main reasons I use official controllers for Switch. I have an SNES style 8bitdo controller that I really like, looks exactly like an original SNES controller.
I have this controller and i have to say its great but you _must_ set a deadzone. Hall effect sticks are so precise that they might sit in a 0.0002 location and cause drift. Said drift is not caused by the controllers being worn out but rather precision
@@Washington_Marques You can set the deadzone in the 8bitdo software, although if you for example use Steam Input, it already adds Deadzone by default. My recommendation would be to set a preffered deadzone in the app (it saves to the controller) and disable or set smaller deadzone in steam.
Bob, ur so close to 1 million, I legit cant believe it... I've seen you grow for so long... you're my favourite switch youtuber. Here's to waiting for your videos every week for many many more moons 🍻
This one was a pretty easy buy for me since I only play PC and Switch, have a Pro 2, but no asymetrical controller since Switch Pro I did have started to have drifting issues. So, I was waiting for decent price drop on a Pro controller until I heard about this one with all extras of the Pro 2 and Hall Effect sticks... I should mention that I don't care at all about rumble or gyro. I do care about having remappable and back buttons because I can't stand using L3 and R3 personally. So, I love that the buttons on the back feel even better than the Pro 2.
Just a bit of production feedback: It seems that your noise gate is set a bit too high when you're in the dark room with the white light. I understand that it's being used to reduce the amount of reverb we hear, but it is set high enough that it is grabbing some of the words you're not saying as loud.
Super Mario Sunshine doesn't have analogue trigger support on the switch version just as a heads up. Nothing to do with being recognized as a Pro Controller.
@@DallinBackstrom oh you're right I just checked, that's my bad should have actually researched that instead of just assuming it was the same on release.
I'm quite content with the official Nintendo Pro controller. Should it develop stick-drift in 4-5 years' time (I'm a rather casual gamer), I'd certainly buy the 8BitDo one featured here. Had it been available back when I bought my Nintendo Pro controller, I'd have bought it instead.
That 8bitdo controller is the dpad in the snes position is my fav for 2d games. The ultimate is my fav for everything else. Those back buttons are soooo clutch for tons of games (especially shooters and character action games)
one more thing with the dock and the dongle: if the dongle is connected to the dock, you can use the 2.4ghz mode on a device that the dock is connected to. it acts as a usb pass-through. so rather than the signal going through your desk and case and whatnot, it just goes to the dock, which is probably sitting on your desk, near the monitor. great feature for pc.
This at least looks like it solves all my issues with the pro controller. I go between my pc and switch fairly frequently and re-syncing is becoming a huge pain so having an easy toggle between them would be awesome. Having hall effect sensors would be really cool because my pro controller has been having weird drift issues and the d-pad is borderline unusable in 2d games even after applying some "fixes" to it. Also having support for features like gyro is definitely a plus. So it is tempting.
it's important to note that only the Switch version has gyro, so for anyone who wants to use motion controls on their emulators, do not make the mistake of getting the cheaper one.
@@blue-cloud-studios Works for what? I’m legitimately curious. If it works for simple stuff like that then whatever but if you’re able to get it working in any meaningful capacity, please tell me, it’d be very useful
I gave it to my best friend as a gift and she loves it on PC. She has a lot of hand pain, so she’s VERY picky about which controllers feel nice. This one is by far the comfiest controller she’s ever used that also has 2 paddles (she needs 2 paddles desperately). She also really loves the charging dock, it’s much easier to remember to charge the thing with it there, and switching between her PC and switch is seamless.
I loved my pro 2 when I first got it but after about a year of use, I've had to set like 20% deadzones on both sticks and even the triggers to avoid drift also after 200 hours of playing elden ring on it, the right bumper has gone completely spongey and lost its tactile clickiness after this, I dunno if I would go 8bitdo again
I would recommend to contact their customer support. I don't have any experience with their support myself, but from what I've heard on their subreddit (/r/8bitdo) their support is very helpful and often willing to send replacement-parts.
What pisses me off about the pro controller is that it costs so much and they can't even fix the fucking Dpad. Even when I bought the Xenoblade 2 version because I heard it had a better Dpad, I still had problems with it. When I try pressing down on the dpad it goes to the right instead, so I have to press it just right every time which is almost impossible during very hardcore gaming sessions where you have to press on the dpad fast and precisely. I'm definitely getting this controller. Fuck Nintendo for charging so much for their controllers but don't want to fix the dpad.
fun fact about the dock: The spot inside the dock for the dongle is actually a functioning USB 2.0 port that gets passed through to whatever the dock is plugged into
I’m definitely tempted by this controller. I want a wireless controller, but I’m drawn to the 8bitdo because of the dock, the Hall effect joysticks, the battery life, macros, and the price. If anyone finds a better deal on a wireless Hall effect docking controller, let me know lol. Thanks for the vid, I’ve been waiting for more channels I trust to cover the controller
@@THEpicND the paddles are amazing! I will wait to buy God Of War Ragnerok until I can buy a Duelsense Edge for my PS5 this controller is amazing on pc and Switch

these are so precise, and due to magnetic field being directly affected by ambient temperature that might be it too, recalibration is needed a lot. it doesn't mean they are actually "worn"
I'd be curious to know more about the gyro performance on this controller. I have a Gulikit King Kong and it's great for a bunch of games, but been playing Splatoon 3 recetnly and it's Gyro is *fine* but not on par with the pro controller or joycons at all, so with my first party pro-controller certainly on it's final days I'm trying to look at all my options, but this thing would need 1:1 quality gyro with the first party controller for me to consider it right now
Try the Binbok RGB controller. Its gyro is even better than the gyro of the Joy-Cons or the Pro Controller. It has 2 back buttons, turbo, and higher quality thumbsticks than the Pro Controller. It's currently the best controller for Splatoon 3.
a note on this controller: the switch on the back to toggle between 2.4 GHz mode and Bluetooth will get loose after some time and will randomly toggle modes despite not physically "switching" This will cause your controller to disconnect mid-game. One solution is to cover it over with a piece of painters tape. Another solution is to open the controller up and put something under the plastic switch piece (maybe a piece of cardstock) to make the switch stiffer.
I really dislike how some companies choose to give their Pro Controllers analog triggers even though the original version never supported it. If you're playing a shooter that requires a ton of speed such as Splatoon, the extra travel time to hit ZR makes a huge difference.
A 8BitDo controller with the classic Nintendo Style DPad, Xbox buttons and PS4-esque buttons? I would seriously buy this in a heartbeat over the "official" controller.
The two biggest issues I've come across with third-party controllers are motion control and vibration. I have never found a third-party controller that has rumble as good as the first-party pro controller. In fact, most of them don't have any sort of rumble at all! I need to know this thing's rumble capabilities before I make my purchase.
This is my all-time favorite controller, and I know that probably no one cares, but I love my setup, so here it is: Bluetooth is paired with my Switch and 2.4Ghz is paired with my PC, so I can swap device with the switch on the back, and since I do tons of emulation on PC, I have a control profile for Xbox button layout, Nintendo button layout, and then one for GameCube too. I typically map my back-paddles to save load state. Very, very handy.
If literally anyone is doubting getting this controller, get it right now it is so good. It’s one of the best controllers I’ve ever used and I am definitely going to keep this for so many years to come.
My job involves touring, so carrying multiple controllers for my Laptop and Switch is less than ideal when space in your suitcase is limited; So having one controller that's easy to switch back and forth between my PC and Switch without having to re-sync all the time would be well worth the investment. The deal breaker for me would be if the controller only charged via the dock - as that would be quite a bulky item to pack. In an at-home setting, this looks like a perfect minimalist option too for someone that doesn't want multiple controllers for too many devices.
Kind of bummed there's no option to swap out the battery pack for your own AAA batteries like with the past 8bitdo Pro controllers. I have a ton of rechargeable AA/AAA batteries so when I need a new set for my Series X or 8bitdo Pros I just swap them out with ones in the charger and don't have to worry about docking it and having a dock take up space on a desk or coffee table.
Yeah, swappable batteries are so much more convenient than integrated ones, I can't wrap my mind around why they're so uncommon nowadays. I have to hide a long USB-C cable between the cushions of my couch, so I can quickly plug in my Switch Pro controller and continue to play without having to fall back on the Joycons. Before I got the Pro controller I did have to quit/pause my gaming session earlier than I planned to several times, just to charge the darn controller 🤦♂️
Someone: What's your superpower? Me: Buying a product only to find out a day or two later that a new amazing even better version is now available. Someone: Dude, that's not a superpower. Me: I know. But I still have it... For the context, I like my 8BitDo Pro 2 a lot, but MAAAAN! That Ultimate is on a whole new league! This also happens pretty much with every product I buy. The newer, better version is always around the corner. Except when I don't buy one. The there won't be a new one of course...
I'll probably get this as my 4th controller (got the 2 joy-cons, an official Pro controller and a PowerA Bluetooth where one of the triggers just dies). It might even replace the Pro-controller as the main one IF I can justify the need for extra buttons and turbo/macro (could probably be useful for Smash) :D But how is the battery time?
I am the person this was made for. Had the Pro Controller since launce - Hated the D-Pad since launce. Also the grips become loose and once they start moving a bit, I can't "not" twist them while using it. Always wanted an 8bitdo but hated the alt layout (I don't like the PS style of dual joysticks at the bottom). This thing retaining the official layout, giving me the functional D-Pad, and a charging stand.. the literally only thing it doesn't have is the NFC reader but meh.. it's a rarely used feature. It really became obvious how bad the official pro controller was once I started using my XBOX Elite 2 as my primary PC controller.. omg that thing is a joy to hold.. Now I can and will have both.
I actually prefer the way it's done with the Xbox controllers. I like that the chargeable battery pack just slots in to where the AAs go, so if it fails over time, I can just throw some AAs in it and still be fine or buy a new battery pack and easily swap it out. I hate when rechargeable batteries are built into expensive controllers that would be a pain to disassemble and replace.
You actually can just connect dock to your PC and not even touch the 2.4 dongle cause it will work without any problems in this mode - your pc will recognize 2.4 dongle and use dock just as cable extension
I have switch and 0 Nintendo pro controllers. I wanted to save some money and went for 8bitdo Pro. Instantly fell in love. I then got Pro 2 and Ultimate on release. I'm planning to get the 2nd Ultimate. I have put my Pro and Pro 2 through some heavy use and there is no sign of wear. These controllers work with literally everything and comfy to use. Fun fact: if you connect Ultimate dock via USB C to your PC it will also connect 2.4G dongle plugged inside the base. It's a working USB connection.

I really appreciate how cinematic you make these reviews. All the little clips you make for these must take FOREVER! Hats off.
The lighting setup is also pretty good! Impressive. Not everyone puts in the effort.
If you keep the dongle inside the charging dock, and plug the dock to the switch dock, then the dongle will work as if it's plugged to the switch dock
I also love the ingenuity of it since it literally is just a pass throu for the dongle.
Is this an issue on Pro 2 as well?
I turned down vibration on mine all the way down to 1
@@Hathos9 i can't play games without vibration (except those without a vibration built in obviously) but i not use motion too much. sucks there's no option tho
Whaaaaaaat??? I wonder if the vibration can me lower and the gyro sensors repositioned away from the vibrators
I've heard that you can't use gyro while also using rumble? Like, it causes the gyro to act weird
Have you experienced that?
@@TheLuckster I haven't experienced that. The little bit of Splatoon 3 that I played using gyro didn't really have too much of an effect when rumble feedback was going off.
@@baldlyrudy Interesting, I wonder if that is a fault in some models
What do you mean slower? Like input lag?
@@r1pperduck yes. There's a bit of lag with the gyro in comparison to the Switch Pro Controller.

Also, you can wake the system remotely with this by shaking it.
does that also give you the 2.4g quicker rate/conection as well?
@@alexnicolaou3579 My experience is that the 2.4g mode is somewhat slower than the bluetooth connection, because the input has to go through the switch wired port. But it should have better range.
Also, you cannot wake the console with the controller if its set to 2.4g
Ive been using the Bluetooth mostly, but the dock is really nice for charging.
I absolutely lost it when I found out the wake from sleep thing, it's so cute

I got this controller so I didn't need 2 different controllers on my desk for my Switch and PC. One of the best purchases I've made in a while. The customization through software and paddles on the back are nice touch and didn't think I'd use them as much as I ended up doing. Being able to switch control between my PC and Switch by just flipping a switch (lots of 'switches') is amazing! Overall, I'm very satisfied and would recommend it to anyone in the same situation.

I read somewhere that when in Dongle mode u cant use gyro, is it true?
The need this solves for me is easily switching back and forth between Switch and PC whilst only having one controller on my desk. And I’m used to Nintendo style buttons. I might even do the heresy of using hair triggers. At least on the Switch.
The only thing I would miss about the ultimate controller is the easily accessible battery
This and way more device profiles.
as I sat here playing Pokemon at 4 am with my 8bitdo ultimate wireless controller, i agreed with every point you made here. I can't believe i didn't realize the 2.4 GHz dongle was in there!! now I can play PC and switch without having to reconnect Bluetooth every time.

The GuliKit controller has NFC. Both are good controllers. I'm thinking about picking up the 8bitdo controller too
Hey, may i know how is the condition of the controller so far?
I need help. I don’t know if to buy the Nintendo switch pro or 8bitdo controller. I’m looking at video but still undecided.
I definitively am going to pick up this controller. I've been looking for an alternative to the official Pro controller that has back buttons PLUS vibration and that is wireless. And this one seems to fit the bill just nicely.
Did you like the controller? I am looking at options to buy one and this seems like a good option to the Nintendo pro controller
This one looking more like an Xbox/Switch Pro controller, while coming from 8bitdo who I've never had problems with, along with the Hall sensor is enticing

THE DRIFT ! THE FING DRIFT ! That alone makes it a better controller than the official Nintendo stuff.
This video: use the official hardware. Me, using an 8bitdo adapter and an xbox one controller: ???
The thing I love most about this is that it’s able to wake the Switch! When you take it off the dock, a slight shake will wake up the console!
I really like 8bitdo products, and I also like wulff den reviews. But this time I'm a little bit surprised he didn't talk about (or maybe I missed it) gyro, rumble, and nfc compared to a pro controller.

Yeah, HD rumble is one of the main reasons I use official controllers for Switch. I have an SNES style 8bitdo controller that I really like, looks exactly like an original SNES controller.
The 2.4gHz model doesn't have Hall Effect sensors either to my knowledge.
I have this controller and i have to say its great but you _must_ set a deadzone. Hall effect sticks are so precise that they might sit in a 0.0002 location and cause drift. Said drift is not caused by the controllers being worn out but rather precision
how to do this?
@@Washington_Marques You can set the deadzone in the 8bitdo software, although if you for example use Steam Input, it already adds Deadzone by default. My recommendation would be to set a preffered deadzone in the app (it saves to the controller) and disable or set smaller deadzone in steam.
My hope for everyone is that they know what it's like to be loved as much as Bob loves clicky buttons. That is a pure, true love. :)
I really wish 8bitdo would make a more comfortable joy con already.

I really hope they put trigger stops on future controllers. Id also love to see the hall effect sensors on a pro 3 controller.
DOBE controllers are also durable. Mine is 3 years old already and still working perfectly fine. And the price is very affordable too.
I just love 8bitdo in general.
Just bought it replace a wired off-brand controller I've been using for a couple of years. I'm pretty excited for it
This one was a pretty easy buy for me since I only play PC and Switch, have a Pro 2, but no asymetrical controller since Switch Pro I did have started to have drifting issues. So, I love that the buttons on the back feel even better than the Pro 2.
yo i woke up today wishing there was a switch controller with paddles.. bam your video gets recommended to me
Just a bit of production feedback: It seems that your noise gate is set a bit too high when you're in the dark room with the white light.

Someone to Bob's right just sitting there smoking a blunt the whole time
This at least looks like it solves all my issues with the pro controller. So it is tempting.
somebody should put up a no smoking sign in the studio, its a hazard and I advise you fire that employee
it's important to note that only the Switch version has gyro, so for anyone who wants to use motion controls on their emulators, do not make the mistake of getting the cheaper one.
The cheaper one also doesn't have Hal sensor sticks, which is kind of the selling point.

This one is by far the comfiest controller she’s ever used that also has 2 paddles (she needs 2 paddles desperately).
She also really loves the charging dock, it’s much easier to remember to charge the thing with it there, and switching between her PC and switch is seamless.
The Xbox Adaptive Controller has many options if there is pain or mobility issues. She could even use foot pedals.
I loved my pro 2 when I first got it
but after about a year of use, I've had to set like 20% deadzones on both sticks and even the triggers to avoid drift
also after 200 hours of playing elden ring on it, the right bumper has gone completely spongey and lost its tactile clickiness
after this, I dunno if I would go 8bitdo again

I want a wireless controller, but I’m drawn to the 8bitdo because of the dock, the Hall effect joysticks, the battery life, macros, and the price. these are so precise, and due to magnetic field being directly affected by ambient temperature that might be it too, recalibration is needed a lot. it doesn't mean they are actually "worn"
I have no idea how u stretched the video out to 15 mins, and yet there's still zero mention of the rumble. Come on.
DggL?
This video is so well made. Informative and fun to watch.

I love their controllers
Got two Pro2, amazon accidentally sent me two!
It does say 2 in the name
@@gomichow Maybe they were slicker than I thought
You actually can just connect dock to your PC and not even touch the 2.4 dongle cause it will work without any problems in this mode - your pc will recognize 2.4 dongle and use dock just as cable extension
dggL everyone ❤
In the beginning Bob is looking like he’s in the basement of that 70s show.
8bitdoo? I feel like its 8bitdoe, like nintendo? Please pronounce it Nnintendoo from now on so we are less confused. Thanks Wulffy!
“Well, it’s a modified controller” really had to throw that in hahah
DGG
I have switch and 0 Nintendo pro controllers. I wanted to save some money and went for 8bitdo Pro. Instantly fell in love. I then got Pro 2 and Ultimate on release. I'm planning to get the 2nd Ultimate. I have put my Pro and Pro 2 through some heavy use and there is no sign of wear. These controllers work with literally everything and comfy to use.
Fun fact: if you connect Ultimate dock via USB C to your PC it will also connect 2.4G dongle plugged inside the base. It's a working USB connection.

Still waiting on a Gulikit v 8bitdU showdown!
It's not hard to out do Nintendo
Idk when it comes to controllers I rarely see a controller that is actually better than official pro controllers. For generations too, gamecube, wii, and wii u first party controllers are hard to beat.
@@soccerz222 The official pro controller has that terrible d pad, and no customization options. Nintendo kind of dropped the ball on it for the money.
GameCube is hard to beat but others are whatever
@@Droogie128 you know there are 2 versions of the pro controller? one with a better DPad?
the pro controller is hands down one of the best controllers available
@@markus1351 no there aren't. The "updated" dpad is supposedly on the Xenoblade controller. I own it. False inputs that can be fixed with the scotch tape mod, just like the regular one.
The dpad is terrible even with the fix, though. Feels horrible. Especially from the company that invented the dpad.
The snes dpad is the best ever made. That need to go back to that design.
I feel like Bob is about to get interrogated by Kylo Ren with that backdrop.
You watch Destiny too? dggL
cringe. destiny is centrist garbage
I'm mainly a PC gamer and rarely play the Switch. That's why I first bought the Elite Series 2 controller, which is really very premium, but I've noticed more and more negative things over time. The rubber coating smells and it sticks to my hands, it's really heavy, the control circle is made of metal, which is good quality, but somehow my thumb is always cold. xD
All in all, I was looking for another controller with at least 2 pedals on the back, so I decided to try the Bluetooth version of the 8bitdo. If it's significantly better, the Elite will be sent back. It's a real shame, because the Elite is really good quality, except for the problems I had with it.
Thanks for your video, that definitely confirmed my decision to test the controller. :)
