They do have weights in there (this one probably does too) to add to the premium feeling which is... kinda cheap... but *BUT* the sticks, triggers etc are very, very good. And the smooth gliding sticks are a huge upgrade over 99% of controllers to be honest. Oh yeah little tip: if you don't use all the paddles -> remove the lower ones and put the top ones in the bottom slot. This way it feels much more like the bottom paddles on an Xbox Elite controller and I personally prefer that in most cases where I use only 2 paddles.
I play RoCo and vigor extensively as I only have a switch at the moment and being able to use the paddles is really helpful with rolling and and pivoting the camera. Reloading, swapping weapons, jumping, rolling, melee attacks all on the paddles depending on the game and your thumbs never leave the sticks ever. I also got this on sale at target for 65 bucks so that helped the decision a little.
10:20 That might be a BIG deal actually. On the official Pro Controller, enabling Wired Mode through the Switch’s OS adds a TON of input delay. This makes the controller useless for Smash tournaments because you have to choose between much higher latency or signal interferences. If this controller somehow circumvent the added latency then it might be a serious contender for serious Smash players who prefer Pro over GC.
I'm more impressed by the sponsorship than the actual controller. Real talk, I think the 8bitdo Pro+ is the best controller all around for me. I prefer the Dualshock style control layout. This is neat, but it wouldn't be my first choice with all the other alternatives available.
paddles are a big help in games like monster hunter rise where i need to map the triggers to the paddles. range weapons like bow require thousands of clicks and can really put a strain on my trigger finger after a few hunts, plus it allows me to keep my index finger on the shoulders buttons so I can easily cycle through my items while in the middle of shooting.
I like back buttons on a controller, even on RPG's. It's handy to be able to control the camera even while fighting or interacting with the environment. Especially on a game like Breath of the Wild where the camera doesn't follow the player so you have to constantly switch between the right joystick and the face buttons. That being said, I wont drop money on this just for that. I really like the standard Switch controllers. I hold one in each hand and just chill in any position I want.
I really like how you made the high five between cool Bob and normal Bob, I figured how you did it, and the clap sound was really convincing, but damn, that's hard. Great job!
The switch for wired and wireless mode are there so you can charge your controller from somewhere else while remaining wirelessly controlled to your console.
paddles are perfect for Dark Souls. Being able to control the sticks while rolling is a god send. That said, I only play Dark Souls on my switch in portable mode, otherwise I'll play on my pc lol
I've beaten all the darksouls on playstation, Xbox, and now just darksouls 1 on Nintendo switch. I don't see a use with the paddles. I do prefer the Xbox model to PlayStations model. But I've beaten all 3 with no hit challenges with both consoles. So it's not an objective opinion. It's always lovely to meet another dark souls fan outside of the darksouls videos. And besides Dark Spuls allows you to remap so it's not too much an issue.
@@kindredlebel9175 it's mainly for rolling while running/sprinting and moving the camera, so you don't have to move your thumb from the stick to the roll button. That intro showing off the controller really highlights how that style of finish gets marred the second you lay a finger on it. I suppose you are supposed to handle it with gloves to keep every fingerprint and smear from your palms off of it.
This could actually be really helpful from an accessibility standpoint. Someone who maybe has trouble pulling triggers or clicking thumbsticks could use the paddles instead. There’s a massive amount of gamers out there that struggle to use a regular controller. Any kind of alternative option for them is great thing.
8bitdo Pro 2, more than half the price but no NFC, no waking up the console nor HD rumble, but i think if you really wanted those features you could just keep a joy con at hand
@@Josuhyes but that doesn’t have customisation which is important with this controller. many people need that and it’s anyways good to have for everyone. of course this controller is very expensive for most people but it’s nice that it exists for those who specifically need it
I've got this and use it exclusively for PC fps type games. The motion control can be used to augment stick looking for fine tuned aiming without aim assist. The paddles are absolutely perfect for playing hectic shooters like Doom Eternal without having to take your thumbs off the sticks. Now if they could just add actual macros.
The back paddles would be mapped to the thumb stick clicks for me, I struggle to click the sticks without moving the stick, and this would feel so good for the speed booster in Metroid Dread.
People always miss the point with having more. Controller with 4 paddles does not mean you need to use all of them. It means you can choose 2 or 3 that are in the most comfortable position for you to press them. Its the same with MMO mouses that have 12 thumb buttons. It's ok to leave some of them unbound.
The thing you can be missing is accessibility. I use Xbox Elite (original one, and now version 2), because I can remap face buttons to paddles and stress my hurty (that’s a medical term) right thumb less. Yes, it’s bleeping expensive, but what can you do. There are ways to use Elite with Switch too, btw. And, if you don’t have Xbox or PC, PowerA can be cheaper option.
@@valentds Doesn't change the fact that they (Wulff Den) call it "luxury pro controller" while it is lacking pretty good features. “Keto-Friendly” Jesus man, you can’t escape those guys, even on gaming channels 😅. And I get that Nintendo didn’t implement voice chat on the switch. It’s not a technological problem, it’s a societal one. They just don’t want kids trash talking on their console.
Bob could sell me anything at this point. Your ads are so well done. I've always been impressed with the quality of your videos overall, but that editing was fantastic.
For $100 I could just commission a custom pro controller. And as someone who currently plays Pokemon Sword frequently, I should get a controller that has a turbo function. Especially when it comes to grinding for special items, mashing a button for hours on end is not fun lol.
I love paddles. I’m not even close to a “try-hard” in games, it’s just so much more comfortable than moving your thumb to press buttons. Obviously it would be good for splatoon, but I can also see this being great for 3D platformers, holding two buttons at the same time comfortably while also being able to control the camera would be cool. The lack of rumble is a deal breaker though. If I’m gonna be holding a controller, I need that rumble.
As a trucker/gamer this thing seems very interesting. I have the xbox wired variant, and it sucks not being able to easily use it on the switch. The less i can carry the better, and being able to run it on my laptop and switch (I dont own other consoles) sounds perfect. Its a buy for me
I am very happy that Sony started putting rings around the analog sticks on their controllers, namely on the DualSense, it is something you really feel immediately. Nintendo and Microsoft must do this for their next iterations, even though the analog sticks on the Xbox controllers slide very well on the plastic around them already.
Money is an issues that everyone has for a better and luxurious life. life was hard for me until I started trading Bitcoin and now earning $8,435 per week
I feel like one of the biggest compliments that can be given this is, "It's 100 bucks but I don't feel ripped off". I wouldn't spring for it, personally, but if someone has the means and all, or there's some kind of sale, maybe it's not the worst idea.
One thing I've seen some people do with these controllers that have replaceable face plates is that they draw/ paint on them in order to give them custom designs.
My dream controller: analog/digital triggers (like the gamecube controllers), oktagon (directional) analog stick sockets, HD rumble, Gyroscopic control support (gyro-aim), USB type-C charging, AUX headphone jack and the general button layout of the X-box controller, all in the casing of a Gamecube controller, with a surface texture similar to the PS5 controller.
Everyone’s looking at this $100 version but Power A has what’s pretty much a $50 version of this controller that’s basically the same thing. It doesn’t have the back paddles but it does have 2 programmable buttons on the back. And it doesn’t even have the weird syncing issue that Bob was talking about. Yeah it doesn’t have Rumble or NFC (though that’s more Nintendo’s fault) but for $50 it’s a pretty good secondary controller
Actually, The great minds for the Original Xbox in 2003 solved the chat issue by having the same slot thing plug into the top in one of its two memory card slots. It had the on off button as well as a volume wheel.
It baffles me that PowerA shipped this controller without rumble. It doesn't seem like there will ever be a definitive Switch controller that offers all the features of Nintendo's Pro Controller AND back buttons.
Cool Bob. Buddy. Your opening sequence glam shots were fantastic. Your sponsor spot genius as per usual. And your perspective is always spot-on, brother. Good work outta you, as per usual.
As someone who once bought a Nacon controller with four paddles on the back for my PS4, four back pads is nice and it’s hard to go back once you get used to them. If I played Warframe on Switch I’d def use this. I’d also use it in breath of the wild. Honestly in general being able to keep my thumb on the right joystick is always a plus except for games like Smash where it’s specifically not for me
In my opinion every 3d game benefits from the paddles, and I say this because my thumb can not press both the right stick to move the camera and the buttons at the same time, this is one of the benefits of paddles. another thing is if you have big hands, sometimes pressing certain buttons will hurt your hands, for instance for me pressing and hold rb or lb will hurt my index finger a ton, but a good amount of games have that set to run, so I make that a paddle button instead so it hurts my hands less. For this I have used 2 pdp controllers I believe in the past? the afterglow and the wired one that has a headphone jack as well. The wired one I have set to the pc now and the afterglow has gotten old and the sticks wore out, so I went back to the normal pro controlle (which originally I didn't do cuz my first one drifted) so I might consider getting this as the rb thing has started up again.
If it wasn't for the pro controller I would be a lot more s*** at Ghost runner The amount of speed and having to look and jump and instantly die makes the paddles amazing
For me, back paddles main purpose are for replacing L3 and R3 clicking, which is the most error prone part of any controller, accidental presses happen as much as accidental misses. This makes my elite priceless on PC, If you can't remap to this, there's no point.
With back paddle button, Splatoon 2, you can jump and aim camera AND shot all at the same time. Tha would be HUGE. Any time u want to use face button and camera at the same time too.
people always say that missing NFC support isn't a big deal but I consider the main thing that you lose on third party controllers over the switch pro controller is NFC.
I feel like this isn't so bad if you compare it to a customised Switch Pro controller - different colour housing, buttons, etc. Being able to change the face-plate is so much easier than messing around with a screwdriver and ribbon cables.
If it still connects to a pc like a standard pro controller, then it's possibly a nice price point and controller to use with pc, as that would absolutely take advantage of the paddles. That said, if you're taking it to pc, you probably want real analogue triggers
I had one ( i had one because drif ) I used it for saying booyah in splatoon because than I can jump shoot and when some one has a boyish bomb I can do all at once with out touching d pad that really what the back paddles or for to make it where you don't have to take your thumbs off of the joystick so for most cases you can jump shoot and do something else

What are RoCo and vigor.....sorry for my lack of knowledge?
I don’t have the fusion, but on my acnh power a, I use the back buttons for jump and map in splatoon.
Claw grip gang 4 lyf
I've beaten all the darksouls on playstation, Xbox, and now just darksouls 1 on Nintendo switch. I don't see a use with the paddles. I do prefer the Xbox model to PlayStations model. But I've beaten all 3 with no hit challenges with both consoles. So it's not an objective opinion. It's always lovely to meet another dark souls fan outside of the darksouls videos. What's your next excited project from fromsoftware?
@@MansBestFriend_ Yeah I just claw grip that shit. I use my index finger to hold the run button and my thumbs are free to look while running. Over long periods of time, your finger can be irritated but if you just wanna play for like 2 or 3 hours, it's not a bad way to play. And besides Dark Spuls allows you to remap so it's not too much an issue.
@@kindredlebel9175 it's mainly for rolling while running/sprinting and moving the camera, so you don't have to move your thumb from the stick to the roll button. Same for using items, though it's not quite as critical. I beat it for the first time on the switch without them, it's obviously more than doable, but they're a great thing to have.
I just want to say thank you! Not only are you very funny and informative. But you're real. Calling out the kinds of people who do wear big stupid watches. Lol. You know what I'm talking about.
That intro showing off the controller really highlights how that style of finish gets marred the second you lay a finger on it. I suppose you are supposed to handle it with gloves to keep every fingerprint and smear from your palms off of it.
yeah im greasy af. I'm keeping the white shell on from now on lol
The effort you put into some of your sponsors is refreshing. Cool Bob seems like he knows what he's doing. Love the videos, very entertaining. Cheers.
This could actually be really helpful from an accessibility standpoint. Someone who maybe has trouble pulling triggers or clicking thumbsticks could use the paddles instead. There’s a massive amount of gamers out there that struggle to use a regular controller. Any kind of alternative option for them is great thing.
8bitdo Pro 2, more than half the price but no NFC, no waking up the console nor HD rumble, but i think if you really wanted those features you could just keep a joy con at hand
nvm this doesn't even have NFC or Rumble, that's sad lol
@@Josuhyes but that doesn’t have customisation which is important with this controller. many people need that and it’s anyways good to have for everyone.
of course this controller is very expensive for most people but it’s nice that it exists for those who specifically need it
Only switch game I could imagine using paddles on: Dark souls Remastered. But again, if you're that into dark souls you're not playing on switch.
Here for the content, but also here for the ads, which is impressive
I've got this and use it exclusively for PC fps type games. The motion control can be used to augment stick looking for fine tuned aiming without aim assist. The paddles are absolutely perfect for playing hectic shooters like Doom Eternal without having to take your thumbs off the sticks. Now if they could just add actual macros.
I’d pay 70 dollars for this if I was having a bad judgement day
Buy their regular Enhanced Controller instead if you need one
Our just buy the pro controller lol
You're literally the only UA-camr who's sponsored segments I don't skip.
I use this controller for Monster Hunter Rise. I take out the bottom paddles and just use the top to scroll through my items on the run.
If you're taking out the bottom 2 maybe should've gotten the updated Enhanced Controller for half the price. Basically the same thing
The back paddles would be mapped to the thumb stick clicks for me, I struggle to click the sticks without moving the stick, and this would feel so good for the speed booster in Metroid Dread.
12:39 as an optimistic Activision Blizzard employee once said.. "Do you guys not have phones?"
optimistic? i'd call him desperate lol
Your ads just keep getting better and better!! Honestly you should be freaking employed to make official ads for some of these controllers etc. !
Your ads are sublime.
People always miss the point with having more. Controller with 4 paddles does not mean you need to use all of them. It means you can choose 2 or 3 that are in the most comfortable position for you to press them. Its the same with MMO mouses that have 12 thumb buttons. It's ok to leave some of them unbound.
No rumble? No NFC? That's a HUGE downgrade considering it's asking $40 extra
NFC is not really used much and I’m used to having no rumble so I may get it when it has a sale but still yeah it kinda is a very bad downgrade
@@albinobanana8186 I guess so, but still, rumble being excluded is a massivr downgrade
Cool jacket, bob
I love how you take serious about the ads in your videos. Nice job, really
Your fight pad should be called the “key stick”
i think I'll call it the slam daddy
@@WulffDen 8bitkeyd arcade board
Or "wasd pad?" "Daws pad?" "Sawd pad?" I'll just show myself out...
your sarcasm is what i love about you lol. you are very sarcastic, witty and interesting. which i like and can relate lol.
"The Luxury Pro Controller" that doesn't even have rumble (and no NFC too).
like the HORI controllers, 3rd party sponsorized by nintendo
@@valentds
Doesn't change the fact that they (Wulff Den) call it "luxury pro controller" while it is lacking pretty good features. It's like the Hori Split Pad Pro, which costs 50 bucks, but doesn't have Rumble, Gyro, NFC, no battery (which results in no wireless capabilities).
ps: i think "sponsorized" is the wrong word here. 3rd party controllers are licensed by Nintendo, but not sponsored.
And they probably drift worse than Pro controllers too.
competitive smash player checking in
i bought the controller specifically bc it has a wired only mode so that it doesn't suffer from bluetooth interference when playing in big tournaments
i also love that it has the headphone jack so that i don't have to strain my neck at tournaments if the setup is too far away when i use in game audio
happy customer here ngl
I’d probably use this for Subnautica, so I don’t have to take my fingers off the sticks to switch tools while I’m trying to get away from a leviathan.
- $100
- No rumble
You gotta be joking lmao
I didn't understand how or why the elite controller costed so much until I actually held it in my hands.
3:28 Epic sound effect sells the shot. Amazing film making broski!
“Keto-Friendly” Jesus man, you can’t escape those guys, even on gaming channels 😅.
And I get that Nintendo didn’t implement voice chat on the switch. It’s not a technological problem, it’s a societal one. They just don’t want kids trash talking on their console.
So have it as something you turn on and is only allowed on 18+ accounts.
@@danielmurray3871 you are acting as if you have never lied about your age on the internet
@@PandaHeadGuy No because by the time I had access to the internetI was 19
@@danielmurray3871 Well let me tell you, everyone lies about their age on the internet
@@danielmurray3871 Because children would NEVER lie and say they're an age they aren't
Especially when it comes to grinding for special items, mashing a button for hours on end is not fun lol.
im a type 1 diabetic and i greatly thank you for introducing Magic Spoon. did not expect to find something like that in a fancy controller video.
Just call the fight stick “The Key-Switch”
I love paddles. I’m not even close to a “try-hard” in games, it’s just so much more comfortable than moving your thumb to press buttons. Obviously it would be good for splatoon, but I can also see this being great for 3D platformers, holding two buttons at the same time comfortably while also being able to control the camera would be cool. The lack of rumble is a deal breaker though. If I’m gonna be holding a controller, I need that rumble.
This is....missing a lot to be worth $100......wow
Ikr? Like wow
Crypto is the new gold
I wanted to trade Crypto but got discouraged by the fluctuations in price
That won't bother you if you trade with a professional like Mr Daniel James
Yeah, My first investment with Mr Daniel James earned me profit of over $25,530 US dollars, and ever since then he has been delivering
Daniel James has been managing my trade for months and I keep making profits every week, I made $9,130 last week
I feel like one of the biggest compliments that can be given this is, "It's 100 bucks but I don't feel ripped off". I wouldn't spring for it, personally, but if someone has the means and all, or there's some kind of sale, maybe it's not the worst idea.
Thank you, for always putting subtitles in your videos!
Love from your fans in Japan ✌️
I picked one up last week. I love it. I use the back paddles for both attack buttons for monster hunter rise. It actually works really well.
Also, those "frictionless" analogstick sockets and rubber grips om the back of the handles are also dreamy features
3:33 your welcome for giving you the stamp for skipping that ad
The sponsored segment is awesome, i love the silence at the beginning of it
Thanks for the review. Wasn't going to make my final decision until this video was made.
This is the only channel where the adds are intertaining
Everyone’s looking at this $100 version but Power A has what’s pretty much a $50 version of this controller that’s basically the same thing. It doesn’t have the back paddles but it does have 2 programmable buttons on the back. And it doesn’t even have the weird syncing issue that Bob was talking about. Yeah it doesn’t have Rumble or NFC (though that’s more Nintendo’s fault) but for $50 it’s a pretty good secondary controller
Broooo! You and littleZ make the BEST absolutely BEST sponsors! I always watch them 🤣
Actually, The great minds for the Original Xbox in 2003 solved the chat issue by having the same slot thing plug into the top in one of its two memory card slots. It had the on off button as well as a volume wheel.
I don't always watch ads, but when I do, it's coming from Bob.
I seriously look forward to them, they're wonderful!
It baffles me that PowerA shipped this controller without rumble. It doesn't seem like there will ever be a definitive Switch controller that offers all the features of Nintendo's Pro Controller AND back buttons.
You finally made the vid I have been wanting to see u do this for a while since it came out.
Cool Bob.
Honestly in general being able to keep my thumb on the right joystick is always a plus except for games like Smash where it’s specifically not for me
Loving your intros. Jazzy and classy. Keep it up dude!
UA-cam showed me an ad for the new Boss Baby movie during this video. Really helped with the overall vibe.
Dude, The things you do in your videos (especially the sponsor part) are the best.
Map grab and shield onto the back, for smash, makes mashing out of grabs and shit waaaaay easier then relying everything on one finger
Sometimes I’m more excited about your sponsor video than the video itself tbh
I'm convinced bob has no roommates other than the dog and all of his clones from the ad spots.
Honestly those long bottom paddles would probably be best for racing games. Easy to hit gas and brake.
