Tyler! Just wanted to thank you. I just recently got back into fishing. And more specifically large mouth. Everything I’ve learned about fishing in the last 2 months has been from you except the FG knot lol. I even bought a mach smash because everything else you’ve sworn by has worked. From rigs to chatterbaits and everything in between your channel is by far the best. Being extremely new to the sport and learning all I have from you has been really amazing and has given me a productive, healthy, and most importantly safe hobby. Please keep up use content. 100 ponds is amazing. The whole reason I bought the smash and the old thunder chicken. Fish on man and seriously thank you again

Love river fishing! I fish that area almost every weekend once the water levels drop. You’ll actually be surprised how shallow they can be! We’ve caught a lot of 3-4lbers there in a foot of water. That area has a decent population of muskies too. Anything BFS/downsized tends to be my best producers on any stretch of the river really. Jigs along lay down and boulders are also a great call! Tight lines man!

Great to see even more variety! I'm in a huge river area here in north Florida so this was great to see. I watch your channel because of the reality involved. The good, the bad and the ugly LOL! Keep it coming and thanks for responding to my e-mails!

Love the video, I've done my fair share of smallmouth fishing on the James in Virginia and 1 tip I would have is to try and cast up river and work the lure back to you down river. The fish are used to food heading down river and they know they have 1 shot to strike or the it will be gone with the current. When the water is fairly still it doesn matter as much but when fishing moving water it really helps. Addtionally the fish may sense something isn't right if an object is moving upriver. Lastly "foam is home" when looking for smallies in a river.

Hey brotha, I’m also on this river kick. I picked myself up a Shoalie.
These are a few changes I made
-Paddling PFD: NRS Schnook or Stohlquist Pieces are my go tos. Try to stay away from inflatable, due to water level and cost (obviously).
-footwear: summer- Crocks. fall- NRS Boundary Boots. Winter- Neoprene Wetsuit/waders. I broke my reefs day one. Then at the ramp we found needles and condoms (it was a happenin spot!)
-If using an anchor system, get a dive knife for your PFD. Also have one off your PFD but make sure you have one accessible on your person. I like NRS. Also have your states mandatory items like a whistle and such.
-(to me) river fishing should be minimal. Minimal rods, baits, and gear. It should be able to access skinny waters and it’s about the adventure. Dragging a lot!
-Drag Strap. Look at the Shoalie setup. It’s daily easy to recreate and it was so nice! This is even nice to wade or cool off and not lose your stuff.
-Horizontal rod storage: it’s easy to say yak attack pro rod stager. I’m not sure if that’s my setup or not. I have it and I used it, but I’m afraid for my rod tips life 😂
    - make a plan. Rivers can become unpredictable. Tell the wife and a buddy your plans. If it’s cold, don’t go without a dry bag with a change of warm clothes, fire source, emergency blankets for shelter and warmth. It’s easy to overlook and even easier to shove in a hatch.
-bike lock: for those days you launch and don’t want to peddle back. Easy to shove your kayak in the woods, lock it up, and get an Uber back to the truck.
    Is this a start of a 100 rivers 👀?!
You need some stickers made for your rig. Something to make it yours

Just a helpful tip, but you’re paddling with your paddle upside down. The tapered edge goes down
Almost paddles it where you can read the lettering while you’re in the boat it will help you
And if you put your scupper plugs in your boat will float higher in the water column

Tyler this was a really enjoyable video to watch watching you kayak fishing in a very large river water system brings up my question! What do you think of a good teaching video on the big differences, pros and cons of river fishing to lake fishing? Since this was your first experience on a river what did you learn from it and how different it is to lake fishing! Tyler your videos are so brilliant every video content is so relative to fully obtain the right knowledge of bass fishing! If beginner anglers want to begin to learn bass fishing correctly should be directed to your channel! Thank you for sharing with us your day on the river and teaching us and giving us some real s life skills for bass fishing! Tight lines take care and God bless!

Trust me, that main river section is anything but featureless and boring when you learn the details of it. The water was a tad low, but there is still some absolute money in that part of the river. They tend to relate a lot more to current features instead of visual cover in that part of the Mississippi in my experience. Something to keep in mind for next time 👊

Yeah, I noticed some of the paddle guide boats floating down were fishing out in the middle on obviously deeper current seams. Just something I didn't have time, nor willingness to figure out on this trip
