- You've seen his amazing artwork for years in magazines and other media but had no idea about his background with custom paint, pinstriping and lettering.
On this episode we sit down and talk to the guy behind the curtain who's influenced many an artist. He talks about his passion for all things artistic and what inspired him to go at things a bit differently. We also talk about his how he created his own style in both illustrations and slinging paint and why he chooses to play to the beat of a different drummer. Dear Mr Stanford, you are an awesome human being!
He is definitely a great human!
That was FREAKING AWESOME.
HUGE FAN of this guy, he's my all time favorite, there's lots of amazing car artists/illustrators out there but for me he's the BEST!!!! Thanks for doing this interview and sharing it.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it...
Steve is amazing. I’m always blown away with his stuff. I wish he would come out with a book of his great ideas.
Steve is very much amazing! Can you imagine how great that book would be?!
Great interview. Huge fan of Steve's. Have enjoyed his work for years.
Thank you!
MAN!!!
Total and complete awesomeness!
I was a 12 or 13 year old kid, when that letter to Pat Ganahl came out in print, and the following article he did on mild customs in '78. I've been a fan ever since! He said here he can't draw people, but this kid fell HARD for the cute little Latina that was sitting on the fender of the '57 Plymouth he drew for that article!
Honestly, few people in this deal have set the car world on it's ear quite like Steve has over the years, and I think you captured this in an amazing way...
Thanks as always!
Thank you! Steve was a huge inspiration for me doing what I did for so many years...
Great to see you again Steve, haven’t seen you since the Rat Fink Reunions years ago, with Big Daddy, always bragged about knowing you to my friends…
Always a major influence for me. Great interview!!!!
Thank you!
Awwwwwwww!!
Love it, Love it, Love it!
Such a huge fan of the gentleman's outstanding work!
Thank you! His stuff has inspired every artistic car guy!
I remember back in the 1990s seeing Steve's work in some of the trade magazines. Of course I was blown away. I still have kept those old magazines that have featured Steve. His designs still
look good in today's world. Glad to see him. As far as how people perceive you,,, many years a go I was lettering a truck at a customer's house. His little daughter asked me if I was an artist. I said "No, I'm a sign painter" And then she said, "Oh, that's all".
Lol that's all! Steve is one talented Dude!
Legend! Thank you Brad, and thank you Steve!!!
You are very welcome! Thank you!
Another good one. I'm one more fan of his work for as long as I have seen it. Thank you.
Thank you, I'm glad you're digging these!

I just learned chris dunlop visits you.. lucky kid he is
--‘’DITCH’’ the hat,,
Why did you let him finish his conversation about Larry watching without interrupting him
Like everybody, when you get to talking you just get into it and you get sidetracked, other things pop into your head, you get reminded of things. It's just something we all do. It sure was a great interview though.
Great interview! Really enjoyed the nuts and bolts of his designs, thanks for sharing it!
If I recall, that conversation went down the rabbit hole and got off topic so that's where it ended up.
