Nice Shooting Drew! Good luck in Vegas and your match against Anthony you both put out great content. I appreciate the time you take in editing and showing layouts nobody is doing that and it really does make your content the best. Keep that content up you help make me a better player and if I can take one thing from your match into my matches maybe that would be one less mistake I make. I subscribe and try to like every video but the extra attention you give I should take the extra minute and leave you a comment.

      Thank you very much man!!!
I spend 10-15 hours (sometimes more ha) on each of these, just to try and enrich it and make it a cool experience. As an aid, seeing the cue ball path drawn out for a newer play [i feel] is immensely helpful, too!

@@d4nd31i0n Well said. Drew probably has some of the best video editing of anyone in the amateur pool playing genre, for sure! Excellent visuals that are particularly useful for players trying to learn cue ball path/position play and avoids crossing the line into being too over the top or excessive with graphics.

    Hey Drew,
In your game w Mark, at 29:53 he’s up and trying to pot the 4 and get shape on the 8.
I’m an APA 4 and this shot got me considering all outcomes.
    Here’s my list;
He pots the 4 and gets shape on 8
He pots 4 and get hooked on 8
    He misses shot
He misses and breaks out opponents balls
He misses and early pots the 8
He misses, breaks out opponents ball, and then scratches and that’s exactly what happened!
I’ve concluded that there’s at least 5 bad outcomes vs one success. So why bother with the pot?
Plan B would be hitting the 4 ball w 1/2 or 3/4 ball hit and allow the cue ball to roll to the lower right bottom of the screen.
Now your opponent has to worry about those 5 bad outcomes.
I’d like to see you comment more on plan B selections especially at the end of a game

This is def advanced player thinking Ron!! Although, you aren’t factoring percentages to each of these options, ya know. If the make + shape is 80% and the rest is minimal, you shoot it, right?
Practice, training, all increase your positive outcome chances and decrease your negative outcomes.
Endgame 8-ball is it’s own beast, and honestly Ron, It’s something I feel like I talk about, A LOT!! It’s the most interesting part to me, and where mid-range players can be ABSOLUTELY LETHAL without needing to have too much talent…. Just strategy and understanding.

Drew, I wanted to check your level. I have a certain way I determine players skill level. After analyzing your game, you are in fact a 5, BUT, you have an advanced mindseye. You just having synced up yet. Syncing is what I call something when a player is about to get better. In short words…
You have an advanced mind, but it doesn’t show on the table quite yet. Keep it up and you’ll sync up soon. Keep trying the impossible and your creativity will shine.
There will come a point when you sync that you won’t have to think about how to control the cue ball or table. You’ll just get down and will be able to do anything possible with your shot that you need from anywhere. I tell my students, “always practice on getting shape from any spot on the table to any spot you need to be. This is more possible than you think.
I quote the matrix a lot with pool bc it just works, but when Morpheus says, “when you’re ready, you won’t have to”…..and I add “to think about your shape anymore. You’ll be able to bend the cue ball to your will. Then pool becomes fun”. Keep putting in the work.

So I've never played in the APA or any American League, does anybody know how long you would stay at a specific skill level? I don't sandbag, unless I'm playing with someone I personally know or am trying to chat up a girl. I know they'll start me as a three, but I don't need the handicap. I can run racks, and usually my games are 2 innings. I come from a league overseas, where we play with WPA Rules, but more strict. Everyball is called and all that. But I'm just trying to get my foot in the door, and it's the hardest thing ever. In my old league you just walked into a bar played a game and asked if you could join their team, and pay them $15 and you were good. Over here it's insane how it works.

    • @drewvonporte
      @drewvonporte  5 місяців тому

Well, as far as APA goes, a computer algorithm will make your SL what is appropriate. Theres not much subjectivity about it, but you can start higher than a 3 if you think it’s appropriate.
I have found the APA is incredibly easy to get into. Rumor has it, if you walk into a pool hall by yourself with a pool cue, you will leave on an APA team. Not sure what insanity you’ve come across 🫥🤣

Hey bud hope you did well in Vegas....bubba I think you rush to much...I personally believe if you dedicated yourself to a better pre-shot routine you do better bro rarely do you look at the shot line and rarely do you line up your next shot or even your shot after I believe if you slow down you'd win many more matches but that's just me what do I know

What's up with the tip on your cue? looks terrible.
Mark didn't play rack 2 very well. you can't leave the 2 on the rail.
I played SW challenge many times when I played in the santa clara apa league. awesome tournament. loved it.
Rack 3, 8 ball goes in the low left corner. no need to break it out. just play the 14 with draw for the 10 in the side. then a stun or draw for the 8 in the corner.
rack 4, can't you draw off the 4 ball past the 13 for the 5 in the side or corner??
    nice win.

Love southwest, def a fun time!
8-ball did not go in either of the lower pockets, I can say that with 99% certainty! My plan was to just get down there and bank it but……. I foiled that for myself…
Rack 4, that WAS the plan…. I just hit it like an idiot… shoulda committed to just send it down table to ensure i got the 5 in the side. Decision error man 😔
      Thanks as always Fuggles!!
