I agree on clubby axes. My axes are all 40* year old True Temper axes that inrehung a couple of years ago. My favorite out of the bunch is my 4.5 single bit with a 31.5 inch does leg handle. I ran over it with a tractor and cracked the eye over 25 years ago. I had it MIG welded and it is as good as new. I have all my True Temper axes painted in their original candy apple red color after I sanded off all the rust. They are as good as when new. They all have new leather sheaths that I made for them.

Nice vid on the rot thing. Chamber size can be offset by how the tube is inserted before it's welded. Insert a tube(s) back to about 1/2" from the rear so the exhaust comes forward, expands, and the pressure wave pulses back packing the cylinder - and then blows out the pipe. Chamber size also effects torque in that bigger chambers pulse back batter at lower RPM. So it depends on where you want to run your saw ...

Tighten them up if you want(unless I can find one Ive already done that with) it works but maybe not where you want it too, that becomes subjective to where you need the power.

Liking that 372 for sure. It is my next saw. Back in March they were 100 bucks off, last (2) at the dealer. I snoozed & loozed, snapped up real quick! Been looking at the 572XP, looking pretty good but will probably order up a 372 & go with a 22" bar & chain, more than suitable for my neck of the woods here in VT... One question Buckin' Billy Ray: Did you bring enough axes?

I have been using archer for a couple of years now and can honestly say it's great value for money. I cut mainly dead Aussie Ironbark for firewood and let me tell you like most things here in Aus it's hard as to cut. The archer holds its edge well and not a lot of stretch. As for life going fast it sure does, I turned 55 back in April (our birthdays are one day apart) and I am trying to work out where the last 35 years have gone as it only seems like a couple of years ago I was 20.

Yes, that's absolutely true. I'm 62 and I feel like the '90's were last year. 🙂

Don't you think that with the advent of chain saws people have forgotten the usefulness of axes. I had a guy tell me I was stupid for sharpening my axe.

Seems like the policy in commercial logging in Sweden now is to leave all the snags for the biodiversity they support.
