Sent to live with the man she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee, Winfrey landed a job in radio while still in high school. Her emotional ad-lib delivery eventually got her transferred to the daytime talk show arena. She's thought to have popularized and revolutionized the tabloid talk show genre pioneered by Phil Donahue. By the mid-1990s, she had reinvented her show with a focus on literature, self-improvement, and spirituality. From 2006 to 2008, her endorsement of Obama, by one estimate, delivered over a million votes. In 2013, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama. The viewership for The Oprah Winfrey Show was highest during the 1991-92 season, when about 13.1 million U.S. viewers were watching each day. The power of Winfrey's opinions and endorsement to influence public opinion has been dubbed "The Oprah Effect".

The most precious life that you touch, is yourself. So, touch yourself as often as possible. If it's good enough for Oprah, then it's good for me. I hope it's good for you.
Your legacy is also every life that you help to smile. Or, laugh. If you can't see humour or have the desire to touch yourself, then your legacy is untouchable.
So, that statement can work both ways. Meaning, it doesn't necessarily mean the lives you touch will have a positive effect. The result of your legacy and the effect on the lives it touches also requires further refinement, employing either a positive or negative approach.
I suppose this attests my belief in humour, as I wouldn't have reached this conclusion had I chose a serious form of expression. Touching myself FTW! =P

Oprah will never know what she means to me. She has been a teacher and a comforter to me since I was a teenager. I remember being so miserable at school but knowing that when I got home her show would come on at 4 pm and I could lie on my bed and watch my tiny black and white tv and hear her voice and I’d be ok.

Considering I only just conceived this thought as I wrote my comment, I have no doubt its profundity carries validity. =P
When I experienced the first job I had, I felt so grateful and excited for things about to come, I said "Yes" to whatever things they asked me to do and I did it well ( Finding a first job that fit my major was so hard, I could be a waiter instead of being an English tutor, I'm a future English teacher ) and then I realized everything became out of my control, I just spent the time to solve the things I agreed to finish, even I had no time for my study at school, no time for family and no time for friends, it sucked. I was an "yes man " at that time! " I have to say no" that's what I thought. and when I took all the courages to say NO, nothing bad happened to me, they even found another one to ask for, I'm not important as I thought haha, It took me 1 year to say NO =)))

Oh "How do You Set Boundaries?" #1 ..... Ask God to help you ... Lol and this is my journey personally.....as I asked Fodnto help me......I ended up getting housing in a very trying time in my life.....after coming Out of homelessness.....I was Very Grateful and Still am.....However, the atmosphere for that "lesson" of setting up boundaries....became one of passion EVERYDAY since the "place" God opened up for me to have a room to rent......was 'transitional" housing.... of rules where my roommate had a list of "Dos and Donts" that limited their freedoms.......When I saw Not setting up bounderies the same as Not being free financially, Not being free to make decisions to go Anywhere....unlike my roommate.....I Quickly looked at that time in my life to be "Determined and Demand the Best for Myself" so I wouldn't "repeat this lesson" of Not setting up boundaries......Oprah has and is My Mother and I call her My Mama.....because during the toughest time in my life, releasing My best friend, My Mother Sara whom I came back from New York to Atlanta, Ga to be her Caregiver for 5 years...2010 thru 2016...Mama Oprah's WISDOM, Love, Continue to Give through her Life's Decision to Forgive Everyday to "use her light to help someone else" and know that " everybody's story is the same and connected"....to realize I wasn't the Only One struggling with homelessness, No car and No job.....But Now through applying alot of Mama Oprah's WISDOM & seeing Masters who have "successfully Overcome struggles"
I See Myself In A Different "Light"
And alot closer to Being and Growing "As One" with the "Creator of the Universe" where I can "Be Myself" and trust my "Inner Voice" that's Guided me to Greatness.....
I can't wait to cry in Mama Oprah's arms and Thank her for being "Used By God" for the life's work that has changed My Life.....For the Better.....And Soon Mama Oprah can read My Story....and I'd Love to Share Back to Society .....through my experiences....that pushed me forward as a "Human, Being....." How I got Here....to "This Day"

Turn your wounds into wisdom. Sometimes we get kicked down, and at the end of the day they are nothing more than character builders. Lost my MMA fight this weekend, but will come back as a stronger version of myself. Doubt will sometimes try to creep in and get the best of you, but you have to soar above that and be the very best version of yourself that you can be. Enjoy the the journey to the very fullest! 👍

It's funny when you've been a doormat for so long when you suddenly say no to someone they start to cry. Lol now I'm viewed as a b because I was always afraid of people not liking me, now I don't care.

I have the "disease to please" I'm working on the power to say no without explanation.

a good thing is to practice in the mirror with yourself, or get a friend to practice with. like ask yourself stuff "Can i have $100?" and just say no. or "I have tickets to the concert tonight, wanna go?" and just say no. etc.
The hardest thing I ever had to learn was to say no. Once I done it the first time I was so relieved that I felt like I had lost 100 pounds. I had invited an acquaintance to Sunday dinner the Thursday before and she agreed to come along with her 2 daughters.(we attended the same church also) I got up extra early before leaving for church and finished up all the food I would be serving. We had agreed on a time of 2pm so I also came back home from church and got everything ready. At 2:30 no one had shown up yet, I tried to call and got no answer. After 3:30 rolled around I called it quits of waiting for anyone, although I was really concerned that something had happened to my friend and her daughters. I never heard from her until 4 days later . I asked her if she had forgotten about the Dinner plans and her response was "Oh no I never forgot, we just decided to go to the mall instead" Then she added " So could we just shoot for next Sunday and you could also make me a desert" I told her NO, and that I would not be offering again. That was the same day that I decided to delete anyone from my phone contacts who were not positive about things.
Dear Susan, you're very fortunate to have that Tendency/Disease. It's our Natural attribute as a Soul or Conscious beings. At present it's just misdirected. We want to Love, Serve and please God, but we are here like a fish out of water. We are all put here to learn and discover our real Self. We are here in sub-conscious or confused state, God is trying wake up gently and slowly.
We all need to put God/Lord in the center, then there will be Harmony/Happiness, joy, want we all want and looking for.
I have had same disease, but I learned from a little girl, she used to say gently, no thank you. It doesn't bother her or me, a very smart and gentle way to it. We do want to please, but I am also learning how discriminate properly and then do it.
I hope and pray that it help you to sort out things.

Personally, I'm hoping it's the latter. Sister/mother relationships with their offspring tend to be oedipal. This inevitably results in your sister/mother giving birth to your son/brother or daughter/sister.
Now. THAT's diversity.
