What's the secret to work/life balance?
It doesn't exist. But if you want to make time for your family (you really should), then you'll have to create that time for yourself.
If you own a business or are starting a new project, the work will never be "done". Accept that as a fact. There will always be more work to do tomorrow.
In this video, I talk about honoring time with your family and friends by setting a 'quitting time'. Parkinson's Law states that work expands to fill the amount of time given to it, which means that if you never set your own boundaries, you'll literally ALWAYS be working. And that not only wears you down, it wears other people in your life down, too.
Instead of endlessly working and being addicted to your phone from sunrise to sunset, try this: Set a time today that you will absolutely stop working. No emails, no phone calls, no texts, and no social media scrolling. Pick an hour or two to be completely present with the people you love or working on a fun hobby or trip planning that has nothing to do with work.
This method isn't foolproof, but it works a majority of the time. Not only will picking a quitting time give you back personal time, but you'll actually get sh*t done quicker than ever before.

Another great video! I struggle to turn my brain off and most of what I am trying to focus my career direction on, UA-cam videos and social media involving goats, I have to be on my phone or computer. Even though I am working, to the family, "I am always on my phone." I have been trying to take the time to put the phone down and focus on what is in front of me more. Thank you for the video!

How do you even... Perfect timing. Always. I mean, I struggle to find the balance a lot, I was to write an email to you on this in next days and I just got the answer to half of my questions. Amazing. My quitting time just came so I think I'm gonna leave what I'm doing and go bake a pie as I planned. Love!

Sammy and Gabby Chit-Chatting Yeah, and for me the main problem is that I like what I do. Because of this I cannot sometimes even tell if what I am doing is work or hobby so sometimes I feel like I have done nothing and sometimes I'm working all day long (i.e. 6 hours lessons and then like 10 hours doing other things that I like but have deadlines soon). I live alone so it's even more difficult to set that moment when I should quit working and what to do then.

I work with Small Business Owners. For most of my clients, work-life balance is hard. They have fewer resources to manage essential tasks and a finite amount of daily energy to manage them. To those who can onboard staff I teach process development and effective delegation. Overall though, your business simply cannot override your self-care. When your business is your output, knowing what is worth committing your energy to is essential!

This advice is hardly applicable to the vast majority of the working population, i.e. people who don't have strong enough seniority or tenure to put aside work without endangering their employment.
How about this: how to have a work-life balance in the midst of an extremely competitive and precarious economic environment that has a glut of peers willing to have no balance in order to just to have a job?
