    Nice! I have one that’s gotten bent too. You’ve encouraged me to try to bend it back than give the thing away👏🏼🤞🏼

    That is a pretty beefy spindle I bet it fell out of a truck bed or something.
    Respect... Very clever way of bending it back.

      I’m thinking you are right about that, it’s a fact there treated terribly bad and they try to destroy them in a month

      My Nieghbor just gave me one but she said the spindle locked up. I think it’s a common issue with these if they hit a rock or something I don’t know she said that’s the second one that’s done it. She thought the spindle seized up

    How do you tighten the v-belt ?

    • @EverydayJourney
      @EverydayJourney  Рік тому

      There is a tension pulley that is spring loaded. It takes up the slack in the belt to tighten it

      Chances are good that the carb jets are dirty. Once clean it will probably run right

      There might be a quality issue with the brand. It’s a shame that companies don’t build things to last anymore

    Worked on alot of them and was carb problems and fuel issues
    Never seen one that looked like it ever had a oil change
    People really abuse them badly

    @ 13:20...
    Persuasion! Persuasion!
    Never force a tool past its safe, recommended, fully engineered ability...with out proper safety equipment.
    I would had suggested using 2 clamps...oh, there it comes! And a third for good measure.
    You have that board strapped to...?
    All right. lets see the performance quality of that ratchet strap.
    ....@13:50...
    Let me figure what popped.
    Was it the strap at the end? Or what it was fastened too? That doesn't make sense...hmmm.
    It seems that once you had it bent back some, your vertical 2 x 4 could had been lowered some for the new position...current position of the spindle.
    Onward...
    @14:27
    ahhh yes...the welds...cold bending.
    Sometimes making that decision between heating metal or not before bending, or bending back is a call from the metallurgy gods.
    Conclusion...
    Belt wear, yeah. What about bearing wear?
    I'm curious as to the direction of the bend after the reassembly. I would had put it forward to account for the belt tension.
    But then that is just my conclusion after watching your fine fix.
    New Spindle cost would had been more than what was paid.
    Well, your buddy knows which machine to let the new guy use.
    I didn't find what what I was searching for but this was still a good piece of knowledge here. Thank you.
    I am trying to determine if I should disassemble the spindle, (new machine) and clean then repack the bearing/s myself.
    I have noticed that doing this with riding mowers, the spindle bearings last much, much longer. The factory just don't want your machine to last that long without some thing breaking or wearing out. Usually the bearing goes dry and by then the bolts are seized to the spindle, thus breaking when trying to remove them.
    Aren't engineers the best?
    Oh. What was that strap fastened too?

      If you have the time, greasing the spindle bearings is the way to go. Also, the strap was only wrapped around the board on one side and the spindle on the other
