    Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.

    Our MTD w/ B&S engine, 6 yrs old, ran it until it stopped at the end of last season to get rid of all the gas, like always. This season, it won't start. Tested for spark, all good there. Swapped out a new plug, pulled 4x, removed the plug, it's dry as a bone and the gas tank is filled. Gotta be the carb is clogged. Now to do this work, and pop in a new air filter, too.

    I really like how you kept it simple (not a lot of chit chat and such) and still pointed out the important particulars like the jet cleaning and such. Not my first carb cleaning, by far, but my first with this particular carb model (used to working on my GY6 moped engine and carb).

      Gy6 has same basic components as any other carb.

      @skudmissal1418 2 роки тому

      @@smallengineguys Admittedly, it has been some years since I cracked one open and wanted to know what I was getting into before I did. This carb is actually a bit different than the carb on my GY6 (and most other carbs I've seen, which isn't many really). Plastic, for starters, and a different layout. The carb on my GY6 had all brass threaded jets, if I remember right. This one had a plastic mold in place for multiple jets. I guess it is possible that we could be thinking of two different carbs for the GY6. I know there was at least a few designs, but I only worked with the one.

And I think the replacement stainless needle got lost in the mail because it hasn't shown up yet for testing.
      Anyway, thanks for the video. I found a lawn mower on the side of the road yesterday and all this diagnostic stuff is a great hobby! I got it running in about 45 minutes and it too will need a fresh carb because of bad gaskets in the float bowl and priming bulb. Go figure. Leaks gas everywhere but it started up without to much of a fuss once fresh fluids had gotten everywhere. :)

    Not sure how to make it work better?

    • @smallengineguys

      so it should be set at full throttle at all times. spring is under gas tank. bogging out and stopping is carb. jet needs to be cleaner. or the little white piece in carb mouth fell out its round and white. or you forgot to install o ring between motor and carb in carb before putting carb back on.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  3 роки тому

      yes your needle valve under the float is stuck open. my guess is you didnt get it clicked all the way in. remove carb remove float rinse and reassemble making sure float is completely clicked in place. with carb off pull motor over many times it will eventualy dry out and fire up, shut off as soon as it fires. or remove plug pull over many times at least 20. rinse plug with carb cleaner reinstall. you may have to repeat this a few times.

      @@smallengineguys Well, I got it to pull start, again, and it runs, but it runs erratically... and the whole lawn mower lurches to one side, every 2 or 3 seconds. I suspect maybe it is that needle valve... if it is pushed a little too far back, maybe it isn't opening enough. My other hypothesis is that maybe one of the jets isn't blown enough, yet. Not really certain... But here is a clue that makes me sure it is still a lean fuel issue: While it's running, I sprayed starter fluid onto the air box, and the lurching motion, and erratic running, both stop, for about 15-25 seconds, while the mower consumes the ether / petroleum distillate spray.

    I tried this, and it started but then ran weak and died. Now it won't start. Gonna tear it down again (maybe I messed something up) and replace the spark plug as well. Thanks for the video! Good work!

    Thanks for the great video! This was my girlfriends mower, it had bad gas and I cleaned the carb by watching your video. Quick question starts up great, but when it is running it has a wavering idle. Any suggestions and thanks again. Your mower on the video is the same one I have.

      Either needs jet cleaned again or white part jet is in is seperating and needs to be squezed back together with pliers (top to bottom) or rubber oring on intake wasnt reinstalled on the carb before putting carb back on engine or gas is old. Starts loosing its spunk after 2 weeks.

    The jet assembly is actually two pieces. Look close and separate the two. You’ll expose a nozzle with 3 holes. All 3 holes need to be cleaned or you’ll probably still have a surge.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  2 роки тому

      Found its best not to separate them. They dont always go back together properly and leak making it run rich.
