Ah Peter Ustinov, how we still miss him; superb storyteller, great actor, incredible imitator, comedian and humorist and so on and so on. Thank God he made numerous movies so we can still enjoy him and besides we can also read his books.
If this was indeed Peter's last interview, I'm glad that he got a standing ovation. He seemed quite touched by that. And he also seemed rather taken with the host of the show. No wonder, she's great.
Peter Ustinov belongs to the artists who made us dream and improve, somehow, as an example of genius, tremendous work and always, real modesty. And he was very charming till the end. At 82, he looks here better than anytime before. No?
A wonderful show of love for a remarkable and great Actor/gentleman. I spoke German when I lived there in 1990. I no longer speak it, I'm sorry to say.
kieran Taylor. Wouldn't we all,Kieran? I think if you or I were to send him an invitation we would find ourselves on a waiting list of at least ten years.
Happy Birthday Peter Usinov. My favourite movie is logan't run and Around the world in 80days.He is one of my top ten favourite actors of all times.I know he is dead. But, i still watch his films.Oh, i love Quo Vadis.they just showed it today.
3sat is a german television transmitter of the two biggest german public tv programs ARD and ZDF with partners ORF (Austria) and SRF (Switzerland). This is the reason why the hosts in this interview speaks german with an austrian accent. The fourth person at the table, Jenny Jürgens, was born in Munich and her late father was the great singer Udo Jürgens, who was born in Klagenfurt/Austria, but I think he lived mostly of his adult life in Germany.
Subtitles would be nice wouldn't they or we'll just have to learn German but doesn't he look marvellous for his age and forget exercise regimes and diets too, he's an absolutely stirling example of living your life the way you want to live it; not the way you think you should live it. Vale Sir Peter Ustinov long may your memory live.
You make a very arresting observation when you say that Sir Peter was 'an absolute product of Halcyon days' ; that is exactly it - such people were produced by that uniquely marvellous era in which they grew up, and in a way that can never be replicated. He was among the last of the great vintages - and there can never be the sunshine and shadow to grow his like again.
What a spirit. i really hope there is a god or two and that souls like that get a chance to roam and come back one day. the world... any world.... need spirits like him.
They seemed to understand each other. :) His German is very good, but his accent became more pronounced as he got older. Only a few little grammatical errors. A wonderful actor, a wonderful man, a wonderful wit, and a dying breed.
SIR PETER USTINOV LOOKS VERY GOOD IN THIS INTERVIEW. OTHER THAN HIM BEING SKINNIER THAN HIS USUAL WEIGHT. I SEE NO WRINKLES!I THINK HE HAS LOVELY SMILE, AND I LIKE THE WAY HE LAUGHS! HOPE SOMEONE CAN LET ME KNOW WHAT IS BEING SAID IN ENGLISH? HE IS SOMEONE I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE MET OR KNOWN HIM IN PERSON! SIR PETER IS QUITE A MULTI-TALENTED PERSON AND ACTOR. This was the year that this great man died. A genius on so many levels. Rip.
It used to be said that if people were to have a “fantasy” dinner party for 10, Peter Ustinov was more often on the guest list than anyone else.
Add Orson Wells to that dinner guest list as well. Groucho Marx and Ronald Reagan.
I'm not sure where you saw that factoid, but I certainly would invite him to mine!
Well, he could be all the guests.
