I appreciate your video. I used to polish my dad’s boots as part of my chores for my allowance. I lost that knowledge over the last five decades. I was an Army brat. Great refresher course. Thank you. -Rick , Phoenix AZ.
Used to get my boots from the surplus store in town at the beginning of the school year and then since I woke up early I added this to my morning routine to pass all the extra time
It's easy to get a mirror shine so for the most part this video just shoes how to get the boots somewhat "shined" the best way is to use 1 part isopropyl alcohol mixed with three parts water and use a soft cotton cloth keep the part of the cloth you use damp not wet and use a very small amount of polish and rub with medium heavy pressure in small circles and repeat over the same area
Hell yea. I wear and LOVE my Nike SFS. Been hammering my pair for two years and I think they could use a nice cleaning but I just bought four more pairs lol.
Yea I only realized after becoming a C/SSgt that we r supposed to shine them -_- Btw did u use a washcloth instead of the smooth cotton one he uses? If so, how did it go?
This is how not to polish your boots unless you want them looking dull and getting yelled at during inspection. You gotta use some serious shimmying with a soft cloth and a crap ton of polish. Use a blow dryer for the heat.
Back in the 90s there used to be a black dye we used, when we would strip and repolish our boots after field exercises. Came in a glass bottle, and was just a dye to blacken the leather (BEFORE) we put the kiwi on.(NOT the quick shine stuff that dudes would use instead of kiwi) Does anyone know what that liquid was? Or if it can ve substituted with RIT dye or alcohol ink? It was just black leather boot dye, but i have no clue what the actual chemicals were. I wanted to restore an old pair but cant find the dye we used back then..Scared to destroy my old pair if, use the wrong stuff before shining em.
This is a pretty good tutorial but you missed some "critical" points. 1. Boots must always be polished using saliva. Water is NEVER to be used !!! 2. When polishing boots you must, and I mean must, be wearing a tank top, "wife-beater" style shirt. NO Exceptions! Other than that, great video. Peace Laz
Congrats, you now have dirt in your buffing brush. Save yourself hours of work. remove laces, clean boots, apply several coats of polish(try Lincoln stain), take a hand held torch(not a lighter) and melt the wax into the boots, add another coat of polish, torch and buff. All done in less than 30min.
If you know how to shine your boots, you don’t need a lighter, you dont need a toothbrush. You can do it with wax, cloth and water/spit and get a great shine. We all have out method of shining. Just because yours works for you, doesnt meant ours doesn’t work for us.
Times has changed. Many different & effective techniques out there to save time & get the same or better results. The again, a simple polish shine outlast an mirror shine on a "daily" tactical/patrol boots.

When I went through EMT school we didn't have to polish our boots. The police academy is a different story.

What’s with the sanding the boot before applying conditioner using a heat gun to help increase absorption of the conditioner into leather
Here from police academy
Nice boots man nice job
How often should you be cleaning/polishing tactical boots? Everyday or every week?
Every other day I reckon
It is best to polish them whenever you plan to wear them. I polish them every night before wearing them.
Whenever they look a bit dirty or not polished
Everytime you want to look pretty.
Mostly when the shine has dulled

Invest in a cheap heat gun. You’re welcome.
This is very basic, using heat will speed up the process.
Using this for Civil Air Patrol

No ripped up skivee shirt, Copenhagen spit and cigarette lighter? Wtf over?
Mf accidentally shined his boots brushing off the dirt
Terrible. Where is the lighter, the toothbrush, where is the mirror finish on the toe. smh.
Hey man. How about you make your own tutorial instead of bashing this one.
You obviously know what you’re talking about.
